This is one of the best live performance in mtv history in world history been listening to this since i heard it on mtv as a kid im 32 now still as good seal is so good it is insane
What is absolutely amazing is that Seal is playing a right-handed guitar, held upside down so he can play it left-handed, AND he's learned to play chords totally inverted. . . . . .that takes time, patience and talent!!!!
Hirath Ghori You'll notice that his backing Guitar player plays like that also. I'm a lefty Bassist and tried that years ago. Felt too unnatural so I played a re-strung righty til I got a proper Lefty.
Megadeth6633 Who's Will, is he a friend of yours? lol!!! Seriously though, I think I had the will but I just did not like the feel of it, whereas the standard feel felt more natural, so I stuck to it. Sure it limited my choice of Basses, but why suffer for your Art :-D... also with Guys like Paul McCartney and a few others releasing albums at the time, I knew I wasn't alone, so that helped I think.
This video will always be my reference point as to why Seal is great. Wrote the lyrics and music, sang it great AND played a right-handed guitar upside-down. Give this man his due respect.
Son...playing a guitar as a left-handed player isn't any harder than right-handers playing a guitar. Seal is awsome. This is a great acoustic performance. But don't over-reach. Lots of left-handed people play guitar.
You're totally right. He's playing chords upside down. But that's not any harder than playing guitar right-handed, or rightside-up Whatever way you learn chords becomes automatic for you, Many of us play guitar and also mandolin. The chording and thinking is very different for the two instruments, but it's just a matter of repetition to master both. Same for left-handed guitarists, whether they play right-side up or upside-down! @@counciousstream
Every time I look at that dude, I know that's exactly how I look when my buddy and I are playing guitar. We make fun of each other's faces when we're feeling it a bit too much.
Remember the first time I heard Seal. What an iconic talent. First Heard "Kiss from a Rose" album front to back. Don't think people appreciated him, Phoebe Snow, Maria Muldaur, Valerie Carter like they should have. Keep this music alive for future generations.
The unplugged phenomenon was excellent, and caught so many great performances, there’s a nuanced feeling that’s totally missing today.. it’s most likely the inverse of technology, it gives, and it takes.
I'm 27 now and have been loving and listening to Seal since I was 5 years old. My big sister is 12 years older than me so since she's been 17 she has been exposing me to Seal as she was and still is a huge fan. I always thought his scars were beautiful and never understood why some people thought they were so ugly. never understood why ppl make fun of things people can't help but I always thought he was very handsome even when I was little. So happy an artist like him excist! fan4life
I'm left handed also. Learned to play a right handed guitar upside down because I couldn't afford a left handed one. I improvised .it can be done.⛵ left handed people are very creative and versatile. 🙂
Man this takes me back to high school days rolling a fat joint and just forgetting all problems in the world just peace in my mind never thought we would have the problems the world is facing today
Talented and crazy.....'They' say there's a thin line between madness and genius. This acoustic performance is pure genius. 'I see you my friend, and touch your face again'. I was sent this song by a dear friend, but he lives 5000 miles away. Can't ever touch his face, but I can envoke memories with this song. Makes it all the more beautiful, and I wouldn't have thought that possible... Love the bass players mojo too ;)
Best acoustic live performance ever this is so good year after year listened to this 24 years now never gets old just better every time this is perfection
This very gifted black guy can sing. He gives me goosebumps. Loved him on top of the pops. AAAAnd I swore that it was this lovely fine. guy on the mask singer. This tall guy can absolutely sing. Crazy is my favourite record from 1991. 1992 a black beauty came out with .... Sleeping satellite. I say no more.
I thought this might be hard to learn. It's the producer of the original release that makes it so fantastic on record but yes, when it gets down to guitar only, it's so not complicated (as good songs arent), it's his passion, lyrics and vocal texture that delivers it on time.
And he and his guitarist plays right handed guitars, strung right handed upside down and lefthanded. That is CRAZY. Best version of this song I've ever heard!!!
Esse cara com certeza é de outro planeta e com certeza também de um lugar bem mais evoluído que a nossa amada terra ,os musicos que o acompanha e de uma qualidade gigantesca também !!!🙏🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
"A man decides after 70 years, that's what he goes there for, to unlock the door"- Reference to Aldous Huxley, who died aged 69 in his 70th year. Huxley wrote "The Doors of Perception" (which the band "The Doors" were named after), a book which popularized LSD usage. When he was dying, he requested to be given a ridiculously large amount of LSD- showing a key purpose of his life was LSD- why he took it was to "unlock the door" to his creative potential. Many people criticized his encouragement of the drug in the early 60s.
I started listening to Seal in the early-90’s. I was (and still am) a huge fan of David Copperfield and he has used Seal’s music for a few of his illusions. I turned my Mom onto him way back then and when his (I believe his second?) album came out in 1994, she purchased it and would listen to it in the car with my two younger brothers and I. Every time I hear his voice it brings me back to those times and makes me smile. Crazy was always one of my favorites.
