As someone who has read fanfiction (granted never of actual people) this is a real rough one to sit through boys, I gotta be honest. I kinda feel bad for the writers of those stories because they probably never intended for you guys to find these and many of them probably are/were teenagers at the time they wrote all that, exploring sexualities, fine tuning writing for their first audiences, etc. Yeah it's weird and it's public but that doesn't stop the second hand embarrassment for me. Especially if they're still fans. Only way I'm getting through this is prayer.

Im going to really out myself here, but i was one of the young teenagers (13-15) who wrote cringey youtuber fanfiction. I wrote like, superhero ones, one where one of them was an android type stuff (no smut, I was a kid w a dream) and it taught me for better or for worse how to write stories. Also I refuse to believe any youtuber has seen any of my old stuff, I refuse. (Edit: I'm 20 now, I know how weird it is to see people online as characters that you can write about, but I was 13 who figured out I can make my own stories so I just used what i knew at the time. Now I make my own characters and draw comics instead :] )

i am praying for the author of this story. as someone who used to write fanfic similar to this as a young teenager i can’t imagine the embarrassment this author could be going through with their story being read out loud by the boys.

I'm an avid fic writer (not of Septiplier or Crankiplier, I don't dabble in RPF) and every time someone who is outside of "the culture" (for lack of a better term) reads fic for content I always have to brace myself, because it's almost never done in good faith and it's usually done with either an overt or covert undertone of "let's make fun of this thing we think is cringey". It's like when Furries were the butt of every joke on the Internet. I'm not saying that Sean or Ethan were being intentionally malicious or anything like that, but still. Fanfic is written for fun. Nobody gets paid to write it and oftentimes it gets posted with bare minimum or zero editing, and considering that it's from Wattpad (which is considered, like, D-tier fic quality) odds are whoever wrote it was like 14 when they did. (Also when Ethan said he didn't know what 'AU' is I went "Aww, bless your heart" ❤)

flash games were the bombb i was devastated when flash got cut, when i was in primary school / elementary there were all these different online (i guess youd call them MMOs?) games like MSP and club penguin and animal jam OH AND MOSHI MONSTERS it was so much fun being like in the computer lab and playing together, or if u were playing from home it felt like magic that you could 'hang out' with your friend without actually having to be near each other. i wonder what this generation of kids will look back on in the same way we think of this stuff

Criminy, this brings me back to how much of my then-untreated mental illness I projected onto the Egos back in like 2016. I'm really glad I eventually got proper therapy, grew the hell up, and can just enjoy y'alls creativity without it being part of a poor coping mechanism.
