AMJGreenspy I use to think this type of stuff was exaggerated when I saw ppl talk like this on TV & movies til I lived in North Jersey for a year lol this really is everyday speech.
My father grew up in Sam's, and he used to bring us to eat there when I was growing up. Lou is a really nice guy, perfect business owner, comes out and chats with the guests, and the pizza is truly amazing. We actually eat it with a knife and fork because it is one of the few pizza's worthy of being treated like an entree.
@@gijoey5912 "Italian accents"???!!!...Neither one of them sounds like anyone in Italy. FYI.. It's a New York accent and people from all ethnic backgrounds speak that way in NYC
Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool Neanderthals developed tools We built a wall (we built the pyramids) Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries That all started with the big bang! Hey! Since the dawn of man is really not that long As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song A fraction of a second and the elements were made The bipeds stood up straight, the dinosaurs all met their fate They tried to leap but they were late And they all died (they froze their asses off) The oceans and Pangea, see ya wouldn't wanna be ya Set in motion by the same big bang! It all started with the big bang!
Ok, One criticism.. Sean needs to show his reaction to the pizza he said almost nothing about it and they didn't even show him enjoying the pizza this seems to be the theme in these types of first we feast videos. otherwise good stuff.
Such an inspiring story. 54 years old and realizes his true passion and now living the dream, just look at how happy he is!! Most people after 35-40, just give up and continue working 9-5 that they hate and say they are too old to follow a passion or a dream. You are never too old.
I love the idea of taking someone proud of their food and confident enough to take you on a tour of their best competitors as part of the show before finishing at their place! Nice!
MauiWowieOwie focaccia is just an evolution of flatbread which was invented way before the Greeks. Italians invented the pizza we are familiar with today.
The actual pizza, was made in Marseille, south France. Original pizza was only bread tomato and oignon. There is a lot of italian immigrants from Napoli livin in Marseille, and the french added the cheese.
The modern pizza was invented in Naples, Italy. The precursor to pizza was focaccia or flatbread with variable toppings, close but not pizza. These flatbread concoctions have been dated back to 10,000BC. The Italians took an ancient recipe and made it a worldwide phenomenon, this is a cited fact.
The M.K.M. the third person that commented wasnt calling you fat he was talking about the person that called you fat. and he's a jerk anyway who hides behind a computer screen so dont worry.
that's what makes it so special though - FWF continue to make awesome content and Munchies, with a massive backing, seems to actually be going downhill in terms of good re-watchable content. For examples, the Chef's Nights Out used to be great and funny, now they're boring. They got rid of Eddie Huang, they barely do stuff with Matty Matheson... you can have all the backing you want, but if you can't get the people and make great content, it doesn't matter. Even the new Viceland "Fuck That's Delicious" is worse now, in my opinion. Hot Ones and really anything Sean Evans does is brilliant, and I found the channel through knowing Sean Evans from Complex.
Good show man but the editing could be better. Multiple moments where there is no sound briefly. Also maybe a summary at the end or something? Feels like it ended very abruptly
Agreed. The multiple cameras is nice. I thought it was only one camera with multiple takes, but the picture he took showed otherwise. Might want to emphasize that more by switching cameras mid stream. Also, it is weird that there's no overall end analysis. Like which one was better or what were the highlights of each if he didn't want to judge them side by side.
Please, start describing the flavours , texture all of that stuff you are eating so the audience can get a better understanding of the foods you're eating. Besides that, Im super stoked on the new series. I'm craving pizza so bad now .
I really REALLY enjoyed this video! A lot of value, interesting history and facts, overall the entertainment was amazing! Thank you so much for what you do and the hard work!
Paulie deserves every little bit of praise he receives. His pizza is unmatched and Paulie himself is a guy you just love to be around. Proud to call him a friend of mine. Way to go Paulie!
Some people can't go home as regularly as they want because of jobs or other important life situations that make it hard for them to choose where they live.
Is there a specific job which includes being the person who eats the rest of the food? All I could do is stare at those untouched slices. Hell, even the half-eaten ones. I'll take care of it. Where do I apply?
I remember Paulie from the forums on Serious Eats back in the day and how he got things together to open his restaurant. Super nice guy and has forgotten more about pizza than I'll ever know. And Sam and Nino's are legit and well worth the trip to Brooklyn.
I love this episode. I want Paulie Gee to be my grandpa. I had a smile the entire time watching this episode and made me wish I would have gone to Brooklyn last time I was in NYC.
LOOOL I felt like I was in a mixture of Soprano's and Goodfella's "lemme introduce you to my pal Lorenzo, anybody fucks wit this guys recipe he'll kneecap with no second thought"
Way better than anything thats available on cable tv. Great Show Sean and crew! Pauly is right when he says your gonna be big, been here since you had 50,000 subs and I thought the same thing then. So glad to see this channel getting the attention it deserves!
Loved this episode! So much of pop culture refers to NY pizza. it was awesome to hear somebody so passionate and knowledgable, yet accessible at the same time. And that high praise from Pauly about Sean going big places was awesome!
There is no perfect slice, no need to ask an expert. Really the perfect slice varies person to person. I like a good crust myself. Used to make pizzas myself.
I love Paulie Gee, but that shtick about pizza being made for 2,000 years in Italy is pure nonsense. We would have a hell of a lot more historical evidence for that if it was true. It's hard to even find any use of the word 'pizza' in the Italian language before the late 1700s, and tomatoes weren't even imported to Italy until the mid 16th century.
pardon my language.... but fuck: I learned so much about pizza in this episode. and its like street smarts pizza knowledge. not that discovery channel pizza bullshit either. genuine pizza facts
2:09 The woman in the background vanishes when Paulie says, "..and it's even better than it was back then," and Sean's "praying hands" magically unfold. Me thinks the pizza's haunted.
This dude opened up a pizza place late in his life. Think about that. Don’t ever think you missed an opportunity or that “open door.” If you have the will, then you’ll find the time. Keep pursuing. Keep dreaming. Keep being yourself and never doubt the true you. One foot in front of the other. One dream at a time. Everything will be fine.
