Your county Limerick provided Hibernian of Edinburgh FC 1875 with our founder, Canon Fr Edward Joseph Hannan who was from Ballingarry, Co Limerick and founded Hibernian FC in Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Irish. Never forgotten. Erin 's Alba go Bragh.

Seen those guys live a fair few times. Best ever was in Luxembourg of all places when Celtic played there. Wish I still had the video.. man we took over the place for the day xx
My mother was Limerick woman so hearing this played in our house all the time with other rebel songs living in England was pretty hard because we took some shit but it never stopped us, proud to be Irish
Dad was a Limerick man. (Mom was from Roscommon.) Dad and his brothers were accomplished hurlers in the 1930’s when they were, like now, great national champions (fivepeat, bhoys!). Hanging on my wall is a hurley carved by an uncle way back then. A beautiful relic, the grain running true through the curve. It is like a piece of flexible steel. In our house, Mick Mackey and Christy Ring were as well-known as Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. After Mass in Brooklyn of the 1960’s, we would head up to Gaelic Park in the Bronx for our junior hurling and Dad’s senior hurling team (St. Brendan’s). After a while, Dad relented and let us play easier sports like baseball and boxing and avoid that long, dreary ride up and back on the old Westside highway. The boxing lessons were taught to us by Dad and were very useful on the block where we were the only Irish. My teeth still grate if I ever hear the word “shanty.” Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all in Ireland and to all in our world-wide diaspora! As Mr. Yeats wrote, we are “Still the indomitable Irishry.”
Great song, I'm a protestant, been to the fellans club on the Andersonstown Road in Belfast, my ex is from the falls Road, Great night out, and decent people as well
Listening to this Irish folk song just now with the troopers, were you in the brit army? helluva lot of Celtic fans were/are and they still love that iconic song Sean South.
'Twas on a dreary New Year's Eve As the shades of night came down A lorry load of volunteers Approached a border town There were men from Dublin and from Cork Fermanagh and Tyrone And the leader was a Limerick man Sean South from Garryowen And as they moved along the street Up to the barracks door They scorned the danger they might face Their fate that lay in store They were fighting for old Ireland To claim their very own And the foremost of that gallant band Was South from Garryowen But the sergeant spied their daring plan He spied them through the door The Sten guns and the rifles A hail of death did pour And when that awful night was passed Two men lay as cold as stone There was one from near the border And one from Garryowen No more he will hear the seagull's cry Over the murmuring Shannon tide For he fell beneath a northern sky Brave Hanlon by his side They have gone to join that gallant band Of Plunkett, Pearse and Tone A martyr for Old Ireland Sean South from Garryowen
Up the irish all the way small island but the proudest in the world and greatest from Galway to Derry from Cork to Belfast irish all the way great rebel singers
I so love this! Irish - scottish music, and there's an Ikurriña (Basque Country flag) among the crowd!! Cheers from a Catalan, with Basque family and an irish girlfriend from Derry with a scottish last name! As rebel and proindependence as it gets!!!
James Connolly enough for you...Yes the traitorous scottish regiments are hated, they were among the worst,as a lot would come from the West Coast and Central belts of Scotland. The volunteers from the Liverpool brigade, hitting Brit movements in the run up to Easter Week.
Irish people have such a unique mentality, very cheerful and ferocious if needed at the same time, absolutely amazing. Kind regards from Serbia, we understand you struggle.
@@ryanlaird6447 Most celtic fans are of Irish descent REAL Scots support Rangers or most other teams except Hibs or celtic. Every man , woman, wean and every dug in the street knows this.
@@sansoucci5394 they the real scots who voted against their independence? I'd say 99% of Celtic fans voted for their independence while the majority of rangers voted to remain? I don't know but it seems to me that rangers rather be called british than scottish
@@Herewegoagain-tw8mb Was it not the late Cardinal Winning who TOLD the flock , who up till then had voted Labour ,to vote SNP.? I had always said that the "flock" were always Fascist and never" socialist".The snp are now a catholic Fascist party. Its nothing to do with the "good of Scotland" and everything to do with the ambitions of Rome and hatred of Protestantism and Britain. We have been together for hundreds of years. Scotland has its own parliament. Why the fuck do we need independence when we have a large say in how we are governed, Independence is for haters and no one else.
💔💚☹️💚🇮🇪 my brother on my shoulder om 2 nd Minot passed away 2 year ago Kevin brown Cochrane Paisley finest top boy of Paisley til we meet again watch ths all time xx
Glasgow’s finest Irish Bhoys - Right there.. God bless - Glasgow and Ireland - If you know - You know.. If you don’t - You ain’t 1 of us. God bless Scotland and Ireland... Forever..
'May God reward those gallant men, may heaven be their home' - This is not a song of conquest or plunder, this is not a song of imperialism or colonialism, this is a tale of brave young men standing up to tyranny and fighting for their land, God bless them
The best version of Sean South ever. My love for the Irish, Celtic and Palestine are always on fire in my heart. Gees I hate the crown!!! All my love to the Celts from Sydney.. we have the Bhoys here thanks to Ange
Hail Hail you don't have to be a Celtic fan to be bother about what the British army done to Ireland and the rest of their so called British empire bastard

Are you related to a peter lee's by any chance,in those day's you would remember Dalmarnock was a red hot blue area in fact all around Parkhead was a lot of Rangers fan's in Duke st,Bridgeton even Parkhead as my family came from Glamis rd Lilybank in Parkhead..
My family from Ennis Patrick. Slattery, Flynn (Ennis boxing) and lynch. Dardis (golden chip shop). Love Celtic, don't stay away from Ennis too long!! Born in Brixton but made in Ennis Co Clare. 🇮🇪☘️☘️
I wish you guys would come to the United States and perform. First it was the Clancy Brothers, than the Wolf Tones and now today it could be Charlie and the Bhoys bringing New York to a stand still!
ok MY NAN fearsome woman from Garryownen and in only 1 year we had to travel from Bristol to Limerick over 7 times. All packed in my car and I am a crap driver for funerals, weddings, baptisms. On and on ... before Hilary's wedding the priest got arrested down the pub ... as you do! SO GOOD ON YOU.
Classical Irish bravery are you having a laugh I don't know what's brave about shooting someone who's not armed and can't defend themselves in front of their wife and kids bravery funny when they came up against armed enemies they didn't do to well did they.
Love that rebel song. Always remember our great rebel Tommy Walsh belting out that song after beating Cork in 2006. Could not have a more appropriate song for Limerick's brilliant team/
@@truefalse207 OK They are an Irish folk band from Scotland ( Wiki). I stand by my statement. Much of the melodies of America's early folk songs and ballads originated in Ireland. Sean South is an Irish song.
@@blix101112 Crazy how you replied 5 days ago but I've came back to this video on my own accord, they're Scottish but. I'm Scottish if I spoke to one of them in the street they're same as me.
@@truefalse207 Never said they were Irish. Just a band that identifies as an Irish folk band. A band can identify as country western altho all its members are from NYC.
A wonderful song by CATB. I love it very much and especially the issue they´re mentioning. Thanks, Charlie and company for this and other marvelous songs dedicated to Celtic. Hail, hail.
As a Scottish nationalist Rangers fan, I have to say this is as good a version of this fine song I have heard, probably had a few Celtic pals in there amongst the enthusing multitudes. Without doubt, a great song, the Tims are lovin it & why not?
Why do Hibs not sing this song at their games then? In the 50’s they didn’t even defend Celtic the right to wave the Tricolor above Parkhead….instead took the side of the SFA
If ye couldnt isolate the Brits ,out in West Cork ,miles from their base ,make it so hostile that they wouldnt dare go near it ,never mind attacking their barracks which were also isolated ,never mind protecting your people an property ,then you are rebels only in drunken songs......
