I'm fortunate to have experienced two flights off Loch Lomond as a passenger, one around the Loch Katrine, Stirling etc and another over the west coast, Mull of Kintyre, Inner Hebrides. Both were amazing.
I certainly agree with your comments about this experience reinvigorating your love of flying. Seaplane flying is such an aesthetic and hands-on kind of aviation. The EASA logbooks don't have anywhere to specifically log water landings either, so you just have to put them down as normal landings! Would love to show you around the Biscarrosse club, seaplane museum (excellent) and local area... maybe a project for your next trip abroad?

Just brilliant Jon - that’s another goal added to my flying bucket list for after I qualify (& build some hours). Like others, I’ve had the privilege of flying from Loch Lomond a couple of times when I worked for Bentley. We had journalists driving one of our new car models and, with us as hosts, they got to drive from the hotel down the Mull to the old RAF airfield at Macrihanish, from where we were all picked up in one of the Cameron House seaplanes (Cessna 208s) and flown back to the loch. Very cool, but now I want to top that ….
Superb videos Jon on a fascinating aspect of aviation. You also flew right above my office at The Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria on your approach to the loch !! We're quite used to hearing the seaplanes buzzing about in our area.
So what are the rules and regulations regarding landing a float plane in Scottish Lochs? As a boat owner, I know that a boat permit is required for boating on loch lomond for example.
Currently no permit is required of Loch Lomond but with some changes underway to the use of the loch more generally that might change. But for us so far no indication that it will

Currently going tru my Ppl but as soon as il be looking to add as many ratings as possible, but given Loch Lomond is 1 of my favorite places ever and im very well travelled hopefully a lot sooner then i plan i can possibly be in your shoes with Stuart giving it a bash 👌👌🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞👌👌 im working a long time in aviation but only recently tried flying and became hooked ❤ my first light aircraft flight was in a cesna 172 at national flight centre in Dublin/Kildare Ireland but hopefully get to go for a run from Glasgow flying club soon 🤞🤞🤞😎
