Great hunt, nice largies and a sweet eagle button. The hook with loop is from a single tree yoke used commonly on horses and mules. One commentor identified it as a swingle tree, a less common term for single tree. Your videos are getting better and better, the pics are clear and shots of finds are easy to make out.
Y'all found the party spot. Yee-Haa! Good old jam sessions. People playing spoons and tossing money at the music makers. If they got to rough with the ladies, they'd drag out the shotguns. Oh yea!😂😊 Great finds.
That was 🔥🔥🔥as always, guys!!!!!!! Beautiful large cents, and sweet eagle button, WOW💥💥💥 It gives me chills to see those amazing relics come out of the ground and imagine what was there. Epic job!!!!!!! Thank You, Jerry & Shawn💖💖 I'm sure you get plenty of spoon action, Shawn, it's just never enough, is it? 😉😆👍
Awesome recoveries. The piece of iron with the hook @19:50 is one end of whats called in the south a "Swingle Tree",it was a three foot or so hewn cut of wood with a fitted band and hook on both ends and a middle single eye hook, the middle iron band/eye was attached to the chest harness of the animal while the ends which you have held the reighs and extended just past the shoulders of the animal and served to turn its direction.I have a couple from my grandparents which used mules at the time.I've actually found that they make an excellent hoist for swinging up deer for skinning.Clearly all the fittings were hand forged to fit the dimensions of their wooden blank which was thicker in the middle and narrowed towards the ends.Cool old pieces of history.
Hey Shawn and Jerry, Congrats on the Largies, buttons (especially the eagle), relics, and always love all the picturesque footage. You guys are killing it out in the woods! If you ever want to get together to make a reunion video: "Detecting PA Relic Hunters" seems like a fitting title. Cheers!
Thanks Zach! Yes, we all need to get out together! I heard of a good spot loaded with capped bust coins and lots of other great relics! We could hit that spot lol! Just kidding but we do need to get out sometime and I’m sure we will. Maybe sometime this spring.
Being a virgin site is still unknown. 90% of the finds were just in that small 12x12 foot area. Crazy. Thanks for watching as always guys! Good luck out there.
💥💥💥💥You guys have been killing it lately!! I didn't get much time for cellar holes last season. Spent what time I had making the rounds on local parks and swimming holes. Found a lot of rings and blings, clad coins and late silvers. You guys are doing much better. I would trade everything I found for everything you found. I like the olde' things better than gold rings. Keep up the great work! Look forward to Saturday mornings with you guys. Lee
Thanks Lee, we have always preferred to be in the forest. It’s a different feeling pulling the history from there. You can look around and wonder about what it would have looked like so long ago. Thanks and we always look forward to your comments!
In my opinion, the videos get better each week! Keep up the hard work ,much enjoyed from watching way down in southwest Tennessee 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Congratulations on all the finds.
Thanks James! We are trying to improve each week. We are grateful that people write such great comments because it drives us to continue to improve. Thanks again!!
@@detectingpa8968 Definitely A LOT of people researching and pillaging sites. Usually just making a complete mess and leaving dug up junk and disregard relics behind they have no clue is a relic. You guys are doing it the right way and all most all your finds are noice.
Nice finds guys, Shawn, I have the same finds box as you, I really like it, it's a great little box that doesn't take up too much room in the finds bag and holds a bunch of coins and jewelry. Good luck with your spooning outside of detecting... lol That's always fun... Great find on the button Jerry!! That was awesome!! Imagine the history behind that button! Wow... Amazing.. Happy Hunting!!
@@detectingpa8968 I will pray that things get better for you Shawn... Your time will come with the Awesome buttons, hang in there... and if not, you could probably build a lantern with all the parts you are finding for them... lol Keep up the good work guys!! Happy Hunting!!
@@detectingpa8968 I will. I'm in south central Indiana. Been looking at some 1860s and 70s topo and parcel maps. Looks like there was a couple old places on my sisters place probably was there before 1860. We celebrated the counties 200th anniversary probably 4 or 5 years ago .Was pretty close to the first county seat before they moved it. Might get lucky and find something on my 3 acres i have.
The pouch is Penka. Here is the eBay link: www.ebay.com/itm/256401490122?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KT8WiO3aTEm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=6wg_fLzkSGW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Also, I bought a duty belt so I didn’t have to always weave my belt through the pouch loops. Just wrap around waist and click.
According the the 1860 map, it was a homesite. That’s not saying that they weren’t trading at their homesite though. Often times we wonder if business was conducted at the home. Massive amounts of buttons etc being found seem to trend in that direction. Thanks for watching. 😁
Hey Josh. If you look for our video that has the thumbnail that says “secrets revealed” we show some of the maps we use. Your best bet to find friends to detect with is to join Facebook groups for metal detecting Pennsylvania or try joining a metal detecting club in your area. Thanks for checking us out!
