AFTER LOOKING OVER THE LS ENGINE AND WEIGHING MY OPTIONS....I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO COME UP WITH A BACK UP PLAN. I BELIEVE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE IS REBUILDABLE....IS IT GOING TO BE COST EFFECTIVE.....PROBABLY NOT. IS A FULL REBUILD WHAT I MIGHT DO....MAYBE. REGARDLESS, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A BACK UP ....AND I FOUND ONE.

Glad you were able to get that parts truck so quickly. Seeing 40psi of oil pressure at startup is a good sign. Hope everything is smooth sailing from here on out👍

When you get that motor out, it’s a good idea to replace the o-ring on that oil pick up tube. It’s cheap insurance. Edit… I see in earlier comments you already plan on replacing the oil pump, so you’re good.

Gotta love everytime you can confirm the typical stereotypes that shady ass sellers lie about.😔 Some of these people get so desperate that they'll have no problem 'stretching the truth,' to get anyone whos a potential buyer to show up with a stack of money. They always try any last ditch effort which is usually pretty pathetic. 😂 Sucks that there isn't anywhere near the same honestly/ loyalty/ honor, etc left in the world today. Its disappointing, but this is the world we live in. Im glad you found yourself a nice roller/ canidate for the swap J.C.! Although you lose some of your time towards the labor you'll end up gaining back some money in whatever you manage to sell in your part out, so at least this isn't a total wash. That 80k LS definitely sounds like a good runner. Can't wait to see the next one sir! 😁👍

I would highly recommend a Melling 10296 oil pump on those engines. It provides an extra volume of oil to the top end.

No need. I looked fourm posts again, and it said road racing conditions. Please disregard the bad info for this application. I personally went with a high-pressure pump because of my smaller oil pan, and again, not this application.

High volume is totally unnecessary and causes more problems than anything. When you have perfect oil pressure stop changing parts lol... They only run by the millions for hundreds of thousands of miles with the stock volume pump... naw let's try and ram some more oil through it for no reason instead

Personally I wouldn’t hesitate to put that motor in…it should easily go another 150k if serviced and used properly….exhaust manifolds are always an issue as well as the bolts . You’d be surprised what your return on selling parts would be….transmission will bring good money….diffs too if the right gear ratio . I search marketplace often…I see boxes for sale so rusty and/or dented with asking prices $600 and up…stuff I’d send for scrap….rear bumpers in good shape are like gold . Good luck with the project

I agree about people being dishonest. It's so much easier to just be honest and then people don't have to come up with terrible lies to deceive others. Even not mentioning things that are wrong that people would later find out about is a bad thing. Like I recently bought a car and it wasn't registered or anything, so I let it idle for a while at the guys house then took it around the street briefly. Seemed ok, but once I drove it home I realized it has some pretty serious lifter tick once it got warmed up fully. The guy would have known this too and didn't mention it to me :(

Copart is a good option can find wrecked ones with low mileage. there is a good $2000 in parts there after you take the engine out would be money ahead and time just to swap that engine into other truck and be done with it. But it's your project do what you do and I will watch

@@j.c.smithprojects Yeah. In order for Copart to be worth it, you have to either be a professional dismantler, high volume rebuilder (i.e. scummy used car lot), or exporter or looking for something not marketable to professional dismantlers, high volume rebuilders and exporters - and basically no truck made in the past 30 years fits that bill.
