It’s finally time for me to search for a new home! And a drive in Texas isn’t complete without a stop at Bucees (Rooting for the Mexican one tbh)

If you haven’t already done so, try making a list of the most important features that you want in your new home. This way, you can compare each option. Also, check out the average cost to maintain each vehicle. (Things like new tires when needed,etc. can vary widely from one to the next.) I’m sure whatever you choose will be perfect for you. Happy Hunting! 😊

I know it’s best for you to take your time but the cliffhangers are killing me. LOL!! 😁 I really liked that Dodge, it looked like it had a good amount of head room, cargo space and the tint was definitely an added bonus. I think I remember you saying you wanted to add tint to stevie ray van when you were planning to do some upgrades. Already having the tint would be an added bonus! I can’t wait to see what pick, happy hunting and good luck! 😊

@@hatdowntight maybe you got lucky - I always seen people and also mechanics telling me that they are not good cars. They are always in the shop or needing repairs. Even the towing guy said that he always sees the car I have always needing towing. I’ve taken care of my dodge well, but the repairs are super dumb like my clutch getting broken which is a recall and getting stuck in the middle of a parking lot. I called them and they say it’s not a hazard but because it’s an older model they don’t want to acknowledge it. From my personal experience once I’m done with my dodge I’m never getting Chrysler car.

Really rooting for you. So far, so good. In my opinion, you have done the right thing each time. Hold your head high, there were a bunch of traps you could have fallen into, and you didn't. The NV200 being sold within a day of you seeing it, after it was on the market for 3 weeks, was just bad luck, not a mistake on your part. Shit happens. Walking away is actually one of the best bargaining tactics there is. You'll almost never get their best price without doing that after the first day's negotiations. You did GREAT to do that. It's not your fault that someone, maybe with less strength, or maybe a more specific need (like a plumber who has 6 of them and needs a 7th) bought it the next day. Maybe your walking away convinced them to soften up on the price, and someone scooped it up right before they would have called you with the new price. There's no way to tell, and it doesn't matter. It was not the last van on the planet, not the last NV200 on the planet, not the best buy on the planet. Losing it leaves you able to scoop up some better deal whenever that shows up. Please don't let one bit of bad luck like that, convince you to jump at the next similar deal, for fear of losing it. A good salesman knows when someone is dead set on buying something, and they will then absolutely hold out for extra profit and extra commission. It's their job, regardless of whether they're the nicest person ever. There will PBJ and tuna money for their kid's lunch on any sale. Don't pay for their kid to have a trip to Disney to have lobster for lunch. Let them trick someone else into that. For every van that gets sold out from under you, a new one will be put up for sale. Remember that the number of vans for sale tomorrow, next week, or next month, is very close to the same number as today. It fluctuates up and down a little, but don't think for a moment that used vans are disappearing from the face of the Earth. Maybe the one for you will show up in 4 days, maybe in 15 days. Hang in there, and do check out what is out there. It can take time to get a clear picture of availability and what price they'll actually take. When I was around your age, I realized that what I thought was pretty good patience and waiting for exactly what I wanted, fell far short of that. I told myself that the first 20 vehicles I looked at, first 20 houses I looked at, or whatever, I would not buy until I had finished looking at 20. If one I wanted was gone by then, I then wouldn't buy anything until I found a deal as good as the one I'd missed. After my divorce, I even applied it to dating, lol. It is so easy to feel that something/someone is great/perfect for you, but then it turns out they were a decent choice but one where a bit more looking around, might have been worth it. I've owned probably 40 vehicles. Now, I usually know exactly what I want, unless a test drive makes me want to veto my own choice. So, it then just comes down to getting as close to the options, color, and price that I want, as is possible. Having done the dance so many times, it becomes easier after you've had your way with them a few times, instead of the reverse. Stay strong until you can put a big success under your belt now with patience and being unaffected emotionally by disappointments. Don't let them wear you down. Tell yourself, that this is the vehicle where you will not be taken advantage of by any salesman or dealer. The one that sets the tone for a long series of successful purchases throughout your life.

Still watching, but the NV200 was my first choice when I started hunting for vans!! I don’t see many people in the van life community consider that van. I think the only reason I got a ford instead was because Nissan was discontinuing this vehicle, so it might not be as easy to get parts for and fix in the future. Awww, I miss the excitement of searching for a new van home…but not the stress of it, lol. Best of luck 😊.

Last time I looked for a vehicle I researched the hell out of things. I looked into reviews, complaints and there were some surprises...like some cars have problems like specifics not working right...like the air conditioning malfunctioning on many of them and other things. It can look good but it's way more important to know the mechanics. I think if you want to travel on dirt roads and places maybe that a regular car can go then getting the cars/trucks/vans/suv's capable of that is VERY important! Happy home shopping...and I will be doing the same soon...my 1st minivan...but I have WAY less money...I'll probably end up like you did with Stevie but maybe by then I can afford way better!

For buying or inspiration, I suggest you look for the "Humble Road" and watch his Mini Me van series. They have a line of mini campers on 2 brands of minivans. It may have gone up but for a professional conversion of the minivan, he was charging $30K. He uses the best quality products and the guy is a maniac or obsessed to detail and practicality. You could do a non-build conversion and when he can build your minivan, you take it or deliver the vehicle to him. Either you can get a mini me or custom build your own minivan with similar features. The only thing I wish I could add to a mini me is an outside shower.

I have a 2022 Jeep Wrangler High-Tide Xtreme Recon (has the removable hard top roof and I can place the soft top on if I want). I did an East-West-East cross-country road trip in it last year (45 days) and lived completely out of it. I am 6'2 and had plenty of room in the back to sleep and work. I I also have a two hitch on it. What I appreciate about my Jeep Wrangler is that it has plenty of power to navigate and climb steep ascents in the mountains and I could go offroad with it if I chose. It is very versatile and no-nonsense. No drama with them. Before my next road trip, am Installing a lockable sleek roof-top carrier. That way I can keep stuff I take on my trips in it and free up space in the jeep. Just my two cents. Appreciating your content.

@EfficientRVer
@EfficientRVer Год назад
I love Toyotas, but the situation with Siennas forces you to pay very high prices for what everyone wants, or to accept a beater. Hopefully the death of her beloved beater has convinced her not to go that route again. Also, older Siennas have a timing belt in an "interference" engine where breaking the belt destroys the engine. Not sure what year they stopped that, but an ex girlfriend's 2005 Sienna had that. Unacceptable. The new Siennas which are all hybrids, are superb but way out of what appears to be her price range. If she goes the minivan route, she might have to go Kia Sedona. Or a Chrysler product with generally poor reliabiity. If she could find a Pacifica with low mileage, zero mechanical problems, owned by a little old lady only driving it to church on Sundays, maybe I'd consider it. One that I rented from Hertz in 2019, was pretty superb. Rode great, had good tech, got great mpg. Driving it NH to IN at 70mph with 1000 pounds of cargo (after stowing all rear seats under the floor) it got 28mpg. Driving back IN to NH empty at 55mph, it got 38mpg, likely with a tailwind but still shockingly good. I'd pumped the tires up to "max load at max pressure" listed on the tire sidewall, not the door jamb number, before the trip. It has a huge amount of space. The 1000 pounds of boxed household stuff just reached the bottoms of the windows. And if you remove rather than stow all the rear seats, you could fit a huge amount of stuff in the seat-storage wells also.
@anggaros1
@anggaros1 Год назад
@@EfficientRVerolder Sienna up to 2006 has 1MZ-FE engine with timing belt but non interference so I have to correct you. Starting 2006 Toyota also offered SIenna with 2GR-FE with timing chain, better power but both are reliable. These vans are mostly used to haul kids and very often they don't look pretty but mechanically sound. Stay away from Chrysler products unless she prefers camping at the auto shop.

I've heard terrible things about Jeeps and those who have purchased one will never purchase another. I lean towards GMC vehicles myself. I did own a Nissan many moons ago and it was a loyal vehicle. Whatever you end up with, make sure it's at least a 6 cylinder. With your out in the wild ways a reasonable ground clearance is also important. I'm currently driving a 2001 GMC Yukon XL that I purchased from my daughter, who purchased it from her Dad, my ex. It's been very well maintained and with the bench third row seat out is ready for an emergency temporary, light weight, home on wheels or vacation set up. I have all the stuff. It's also surprisingly great on gas mileage for being an 8 cylinder. I think the reduced weight, third row seat was heavy af, made a difference. Praying you find the perfect reliable new home on wheels. PS, please be respectful to your Mom. God is watching as are your subscibers. God bless.

Alyssa take your time and do your research or review of vehicle.If used ask for the Carfax of vehicle. Also if used have checked out by reliable mechanic. It is a big investment. Probably better to get AWD or 4x4. Good luck to you in your search. God Bless you. ♥️♥️

I looked at “city vans” for my business and the Dodge was the best overall. I still think about getting one and I think it would be a good choice. You know yourself better than anyone so go with your instincts!

Have you tried Toyota mini van? If you can store seats, there is more room. I think some are 4wd or all wheel drive which may be handy in remote places (but more to fix if break). Do any have security system? That would be the downfall of softsided like the jeep. Happy hunting!

I think you should get something you can stand up in. Like a Van or a small RV. You'll have heat and AC.

I could cry. I had a Promaster City and loved it before it broke down on me (it was a salvage vehicle and I wasn't told that when I bought it - so check). I still actively mourn for that van. MOURN.

I kept looking around Ash you were driving through your city wondering what city in Texas is she at because I just thought it was too familiar. I started recognizing things and then when you drove past those breaking jumbo cowboy boots are sank in my chair, I immediately knew what street and city and ZIP Code you were in LOL I am a Texan transplanted in Ohio. I came up for work and ended up staying because my son and his family live here I do go back to Waco, Austin, San Antonio and of course, my beloved South padre island every two years. Good luck on your vehicle. Search take your time get exactly what you need. That’s what I try to do when I buy something new sometimes it works and sometimes my watch takes control but your hometown is mine too. Pretty cool.

I imagined that you would decide on a van. However, having a 4x4 seems important to navigate some of the difficult terrain. I can’t wait to see what you choose! I’m super excited for you.

Yes girl you need to jump on buying the vehicle fast. That's how the market has been for a while, ruthless. Maybe you're better off without the nv. As far as I knew, all new Nissan's have transmission problems. The jeeps were nice and the dodge vans cool too. No transits yet? Can't wait to see which one you get
