My family was there this past spring. I'm certainly not a shell expert, but it is somewhat addicting to go looking for perfect specimens. And wow you can really find them. It's very soothing and satisfying. This video really makes me want to go back now.

Until 5 years ago I lived on that beach and walked it every morning from Dela Park Place. I have the most amazing collection from over 30 years of shelling on Marco Island. Miss it but life changes and we moved on to be close to our children. I love your videos and imagine walking along with you. Thank you.

Thank you so much for taking us all along on your beach treasure hunts! I love that you know the names of all the shells and most of the critters. and what a find, finally a wenteltrap! And while I love the sounds of the beach when the water crashes on the sand, and the sights of the dolphins cavorting in the surf, I don't mind the jack hammers and other sounds because it means repairs are being made, and livelihoods are being restored. You're having a pretty nice day after all! I know what you mean about the thrill of the hunt, as I spent the summers of my youth hunched over a sluice looking for rubies in Western NC. Another rose murex for you! And then another! How wonderful! I'm almost sinning here, as envy is nibbling at my soul. It's been so very long since I saw the sea for myself! I'm getting better slowly, though I took a hard fall and injured the knee that was replaced twenty years ago. It's giving me some trouble and may drive me to go to my orthopedic surgeon, who is going to fuss at me. I'm resting it as much as I can and letting my husband do the housework. I think that's fair, since it was his feet I tripped over. Why he decided to stick them in front of my walking feet, I don't know. Anyway, I don't have anything else to convey except my joy at seeing you happy again, finding shells and enjoying the islands. Love to you and the Gulf of Mexico! The Lost Mermaid

The little Hermit Crabs were funny but that big Red Hermit Crab was awesome. You are right about needing a big strong crab to carry around the Florida Fighting Conch shell, they are substantial. Loved the dolphins playing so close to shore for the beach time. Seeing the dolphins, pelicans, herons and hermit crabs all acting normal shows nature's resilience after a cataclysmic event. I believe that Sanibel will do their best to maintain their charm and limit the size of new buildings. We've stayed in some small boutique hotels on the beach there and the atmosphere is so much more enjoyable than a huge resort. Hopefully Ft Meyers Beach will do the same.

Back at the end of June, my husband, myself and our kids vacationed there in Marco Island…we stayed in a condo at the Apollo, right by those jettys! My son and I did a beach walk every morning we were there and went down to the jettys, but unfortunately we didn’t make it to this special spot, (I think the negative low tide was after dark each night and we just couldn’t go)…So after that trip and seeing all of your videos at Marco, it has developed into a special place for me! I hope to make it back one day soon! Thanks for sharing!

I love when you said “it’s a slow day for shelling, I’m going to appreciate what I can find.”😂 that was me this weekend in Mexico. Absolutely no wind, so nothing was being kicked onto the beach. So spoiled after that hurricane lol. I got an abundance of calico clams, and if I wanted something special I had to REALLY hunt in the rocks and reefs. Got lucky with some olives, and a whelk I’ve never seen before. But wow, I was a little bummed 😫 or a lot bummed. I think us shellers can relate to that feeling haha

I’ve been watching your videos for months! We took our girls to Marco for Christmas, and was on South Beach this Morning I am disappointed I missed you! We left for ky this afternoon. Thank you for your informative and lovely videos, I went out yesterday morning at low tide and found a HUGE Shark eye as big as my hand! Robb from South west Florida television was on the beach as well and another Sheller (Kathy) told me to show him. Anyway thank you we had an amazing time and we can’t wait to go back!!

I adore the tiny shells. Tiny little perfections! It’s fun to find the bigger shells, too! OMG! That wentletrap! I called them lacy augers because I always found the tiny ones. I have never seen on that big! Your rose murexes! Lucky you!

My wife and I love your videos. We’re new to Florida and live near Tampa. We went out to a beach yesterday afternoon and for the great sunset after spending Christmas in northern Minnesota and Nebraska. Came home after that and enjoyed your latest video, what a treat! Thank you! You also mentioned you’ve only found a couple love apple murex, and I found one yesterday. Crazy. Keep up the great videos and shelling tour recommendations. We used one a few weeks ago to Dickmans Island and it was great!

Those recycled shells were mine 😊. We stayed there for 4 weeks And as I was packing up I realized I had too many shells so we put the extras back for others to enjoy! Sorry we didn’t get to meet up. Maybe on my next trip down there..

We finally have made our way down to Fort Myers again and I have been just appalled at the devastation yall have endured from the hurricane. It just breaks my heart!!! A person just can't wrap their mind around it till they see it. The little signs here and there about 'staying strong' have warmed my heart over and over again. My 70 year old mother and my 2 girls ages 12 and 8 are with me and we went shelling yesterday. Thank you so much for all the info and names you have taught us! Shelling wouldn't be as fun if it wasn't for all the teaching you have done for us;) my girls and myself would love to be able to meet up with you sometime!

The small shells would make really cute earrings; even with the chips or broken pieces. It'd make them a natural specialty; even if they weren't perfect matches. I'd definitely make and wear real shell earrings.

The Wentletrap was so cool!! I thought it was an albino one, it was so white. Seeing the Toad Fish was cool too and of course Beach Time with the dolphins was fantastic!!!🐬🐬 Loved the shells you found. What a gorgeous day to be out at the beach!! More people showing up on the beaches now. 🏖️ Let’s hope that Ft. Myers will be on its way to recovery with some new buildings by next summer. I was at my pain Dr's for a refill appointment when I noticed the pattern on their carpet was exactly like a Sunray Venus. I couldn't stop giggling over that. 😁 Hope you had an amazing Christmas. I did. My Husbunny got me The Encyclopedia of Shells, the life size one. He's thinking that vacations in FL and GA and TX would be fun. LOL I agree but I'd like to go gemstone hunting in SC as well. 😊

Fun haul! I was able to travel down to Treasure Island and Anna Maria last weekend and had some great bucket list finds including an octopus! Definitely see what you mean when you collect the fighting conchs last, they are heavy. Thank you for posting!

Love your videos. I too found a wentletrap on beach in Englewood back in 2017...just standing there watching the sunset and it was at my feet. (I'm from Canada and try to head to that area yearly)
