There is something enigmatic in Haruno’s character, this is the reason i was hooked on her character (and probably I’ve known a person like this in real life). I’m glad i watched this after i finished Oregairu, Thank you.
I can’t believe how well you can express and explain a story, character or concept with an ability to go really in depth on things that wouldn’t ever be touched on by most viewers of the subject. I could really sing praises for you, and I can see your channel growing very steadily over this year, good luck and keep making this absolutely stunning content.
Yeah I played it! I love the vn, but for the sake of this video, I kept it anime only so that it would be more accessible to everyone. Thanks for watching!
I'll be honest I was that one person who watched the whole thing and didn't understand most of the subtext of the story I just watched it like any other and I wished I didn't because it was a slap in the face to the author. Luckily after watching many videos explaining the story I understand more and more about what really was going on. I would like to thank you personally because one of the lines that stayed with me was from haruno which was "you can't get drunk", that line was something that stayed with me even to this day and I finally understand why. Thank you!
It’s a very complex series. I won’t pretend I completely grasped everything my first time watching it. Thank you very much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed this and found it informative.
@@9LivesDeepDives I should thank you like I said before that line was something I always had in my mind when watching videos and amv's and you helped me understand the meaning of it. I hope to see more of your informative videos in the future.
5:50 Haruno was never stuco president That's actually a major plot point on why Yukino was miffed about 8man taking away her reason to be president, since it would have set her apart from her sister.
@@9LivesDeepDives Intj is our shadow personality, or u can say, everyone has dark personality when we are depress or extremely sad. And for ENTP it falls under the same personality as INTJ
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the sub! And yes I agree. I think she’s a fantastically well written character. Oregairu’s characters are its strongpoints, and although a lot of exposition was lost adapting it from the light novel, a handful of the side characters still possess quite a bit of substance and discussion points of their own. Haruno brings a lot of chaos to the series and with it a vital aspect of the narrative in order to flesh Yukino’s character out. She’s great! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed, hope you’ll subscribe for more content. Been slacking lately but I’ve got another Oregairu video in the works, another Bojack Horseman video, and an Arcane analysis coming too.
Wow! Wonderful analysis and review of Oregairu and Haruno Yukinoshita, even though you and I have opposite views of the woman. Any college student who enjoys hanging with High School kids is suspect! If there were an antagonist in this story, it would be Haruno, although I would agree that she probably understands Hachiman better than anyone, except possibly for her mother. The Yukinoshita woman have a thing for Hachiman because we are told that he is very much like Mr. Yukinoshita, their husband and father. As for subtext in the Anime, that results from a lack of time to tell this very complex story. In the actual text there is considerable detail about feelings, motivations, and inner thinking as causal factors for behavior! The Anime drops a lot of that explanation for character behavior into subtext due to limited narrative time.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed! As far as college students hanging around high schoolers, I agree that in real life it would be suspect but since it’s anime I’ll let it slide.
While I do like the ideas presented here, I think some more references would help out this video a lot. Like going over a moment where she causes chaos for the service club and how that chaos leads to Yukino developing in a way Haruno wanted all along. Also since you had a clip of the VN, what do you make of the Haruno route there? I couldn't wrap my head around why she said Hachiman was wasted on Yukino, proceeded to take him for herself, and the implication that she damaged the relationships between the service club trio. I was really confused by her motivations and why she was so attracted to him.
Thanks for commenting! I tried to keep this video strictly anime only to make it easier for people to watch(and I did use an image from the VN but mostly because at the time I was really lazy with how I put videos together and just saved a few pictures off Google), but I didn’t consider the light novel much or VN when writing this video. I’ll say that I’m not a huge fan of the Haruno route in the visual novel, mostly because it just seemed like the opportunity to add another path and because Haruno pursuing Hachiman seemed so drastically out of character. You are correct about Haruno pushing Yukino to develop in a way she wanted, and I didn’t really touch on that specifically. Maybe I should have expanded more, but a lot of the point of this analysis was that Haruno’s quirky antagonization of the Service Club and Yukino were in attempts to shelter Yukino from the lifestyle Haruno detested. In other words, I was trying to say exactly what you said here with less exposition. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
@@9LivesDeepDives no worries about the VN thing, I knew the video wasn't focusing on that, but I just wanted to ask because I really didn't get her mindset with how it was implied she messed up their friendships. I don't think it's impossible for Haruno to take a romantic interest in Hachiman, but the way she was implied to mess up their friendships was really confusing considering her original goals.
Yeah I think the bottom line of Haruno’s character is despite everything, she cares for and wants the best for Yukino. Her pursuing Hachiman romantically is so far from what she seems to want as a character that it’s jarring.
@@9LivesDeepDives That makes sense. At my most generous interpretation there are like 1 or 2 salvageable scenes in that route, but the way they tried to justify it overall doesn't really work.
I mean visual novels are mostly for romance lol. Having a Haruno path isn’t surprising, especially since she’s the attractive older sister of the main love interest. I try not to think of it as canon tbh, even though I love.
I am very sorry u gave a good explanation I could comprehend with most of them but thing that made me confused is when the baking cookies thing happened where they plan it so that the girls could give hayato cookies, while hachiman yui and yukino were happy enjoying cookies, suddenly haruno came and says ‘ is this what you were looking for hikkigayakun ?‘ and then they were all like stopped laughing and all, I don’t get the question haruno asked
There’s a lot to unpack in this scene alone. I’ll do my best to here in the comments. At this point in the story, feelings have begun to develop within the main trio. Hachiman is searching for his “genuine” thing, which will be his romantic relationship with either Yui or Yukino. Yui has fallen for Hachiman twice, first when he saved her dog, and another time after actually getting to know him. Yukino has begun to develop feelings for Hachiman romantically, but her platonic relationship with Yui as well is important to her. They are all aware of this, that their friend group that has been a sanctuary for them could crumble if their feelings are acted on. Haruno basically means that by maintaining this status quo instead of actually acting on their feelings and saying what they truly desire, both Hachiman and Yukino are embodying the falsities they claim to despise in their peers. “Is this what you were looking for, Hikigaya-Kun?” Basically means that this form of their group relationship is not the genuine thing he claimed to desire so strongly because no one there is really saying how they truly feel.
@@9LivesDeepDives omg for years I was unable to understand this due to my stupidity but thank you so much I understand clearly now, I watched a lot of explanation videos to figure out but still they rarely talk about this scene in particular so I really appreciate it man , and again thank you for this lovely video and explanation, and Oregairu was also my favourite anime, I wish you all the best for the upcoming videos!
Thank you! Sorry I didn’t list them in the description. I believe every OST used is from Oregairu in this video, here is a list of the OSTs I tend to use. I’ll double check the source file when I get home. Oregairu OST - Honne Ienakute Oregairu OST - Yasashii Onnanoko Oregairu OST - Kokoro Surechigau Oregairu Zoku OST - Fugouri na Kanjou
No problem! Hopefully this list has all of them. Glad you enjoyed and I hope you’ll subscribe if you want to see more. Been slacking lately but I’m working on a few videos right now.
In terms of what relationship path I would take, clearly Hiratsuka sensei is the best girl. I don’t really include Haruno when I think about potential romances but I do like her character quite a lot.
i find myself who has both brilliant crictical thinking and cant get drunk liike hachiman but not hypocritical. So i hate Haruno no caps, like who tell me to do but so many of people like her. I just hate people like her and leave them. No one will understand what i say “cause they did not listen
Yeah I find that I do not particularly like her, as in I don’t see myself associating with someone like Haruno in real life. But I do appreciate her as a character in one of my favorite stories, and how she is written to complement the main characters. Thanks for commenting!
Oregairu is objectively a great anime And this video is an amazing analysis But i personally I want to focus on the *""Personally""* part Didn't like it Is not because i want to be different Not because i didn't understand it I just didn't like it I didm't enjoy it I watched to the end And didn't like it You can love it And explain to me why it is a masterpiece But i just don't like it
