Welcome back to Lightning Springs Ranch. today we are out searching fo any stray cows that got left behind after our last round up. We come across a bull and a heifer that were hiding out. As we try to bring them back to the corrals they give us a little bit of a fight.

Glad you got out of the without injury. I don't know much of anything about Horses other than they get spooked easy sometimes without warning! I drove a mixer in Amish Country and some of their Horses would freak out over the drum on the truck turning! I don't know if they thought the truck was going to eat them or what, they would freeze up start stomping on the ground and bolt! Not good for the rider/ passengers in a buggy/cart! I also seen a video where a dumb Horse tried to eat a Prickly Pair (cactus) and didn't like the guy pulling it out of his lip so he reared up and kicked the guy in the shoulder. Glad he didn't trample him then the other Horse with rider got spooked and ran into a cactus and bolted. That would have been my last trip to a desert with Horses. They really have a mind of their own.

One question. Why don't you take bridles off when they are in the trailer and put on a halter? Seems like anything could happen and looks like a dangerous situation to me? Especially with a green colt. I'm not hating. Just wondering.
@lightningspringsranch

Thats a good question! Honestly that's just how we have always done it. Normally we try to let the young horses have their own stall. The older horses are experienced enough that a lot of times they will load themselves and never cause problems. We have never had a problem loading them this way, but I understand your concern!

@@lightningspringsranch Thank you. Having owned young horses in the past I have found out at high expense if it's at all possible they will do it. And sometimes the impossible. Lol

Real horsemen never use compression bits especially on green colts. In order to learn the principle of bend you have to use a snaffle or a hackamore and prepare him first at home.
@lightningspringsranch

I agree! That colt is actually in a hackamore. There is nothing in his mouth. And he has had plenty of preparation. He just got a little nervous in a new place.

A real horseman knows when he’s looking at a hackamore… 👀😂 Good try bud
@kathleenredick275

Might be a mechanical hackamore. Bosal is for training, not mechanical.

@beaulamb333 sometimes you can never tell I'm not good with bits becuase I'm 10 years old started lessons at 5 but never learned the bits but ik the one I use on my horse is a good bit becuase it has bronze medal that horses like to taste and it works well becuase my grandma's horse used it and he never likes the bit she has to ride bitless! But there are lots of bits that look like a hackamore you shouldn't just come to conclusions.

@@lynettedjdo4igjbnsoderquis467 not to be rude but there's no bit it's a hackamore
