Coin roll hunting is my favorite besides metal detecting what we call “tot lots”. There can be all sorts of things to find. I’ve found 1916 D mercury dime, and also got lucky to find the 1914 d wheat cent variant. Coin roll hunting used to be something I would do after I got home from working my 12hr shift in law enforcement. My ex wife and I loved doing it. Funny that the most rarest coins I’ve ever found is metal detecting.I miss working for the coin shop as a numismatist part time. Getting very old coins and having to open the book of knowledge and the use the magnifier it sure was fun. Especially the hand made City tokens or store tokens. I had an entire collection of ghost town tokens, as well as being able to collect damn near every coin or cent ever made
Thank you for this information! I saw this video a couple of weeks ago and you have started an obsessive treasure hunt. Because of your one video, I have spent every moment available going through all of my quarters and so far I have found 25 'W' mint quarters, 3 1964 silver quarters, 7 'S' quarters, a few possible die chip errors, and a few possible unclad quarters! I just subscribed. THANK YOU!
I just came across your channel. I use to be an avid coin and note collector until a few yesrs ago and watching this video has inspired me to collect again. As a monies collector, i learn new things all the time . I just checked my change and your not going to believe this. I had 5 quarters in my change and one of the quarters is a 2019 " W " mint and its in , really nice shape. Im excited, what are the odds of finding a " W " mint , in only 5 quarters ...whooo-hooo ! ! I gave you a thumbs 👍 and i subscribed. Thank you.
Started roll searching in Ormond Beach Florida three weeks ago. Found 8 W mint marks and also found a 1951D, 1953D, 1958D and 1962D silver! Incredible...also just found a ghost comet Sally Ride very defined in a solid unc roll. Enjoying your video!
Hey, Newbie here 👋🏽 I Recently started my Coin hunting / collecting Journey and I'm hooked. I found your Channel, and it is my go-to guide🙌🏾 Happy I caught this video because I'm literally sitting on a bunch of 2019 and 2020 quarters. The Hunt is on.... thanks ❤
My job has access to bank bags daily. For the two years of the "W" quarters, I wasn't in a position to check the bags of quarters. I am now, so I can only imagine how many of the "W" quarters I missed..... 🤦 Awesome vid... 👍
Enjoy your videos I never checked any of my coins till I watched one of your videos and then I subscribe now I check every coin I got but great videos buddy keep them coming
One of my friends works at Loomis n they have workers pull out all the silver coins they find. They also hand roll their coins but he said other locations use machine's
I really appreciate the time ⏲️ and dedication that you do when you are going through your coins 🪙 and I really appreciate the time you spent with the coins. I JUST was wondering if been collecting coins for a while. I love that you really inspected every single one and find the make sure that they are anything out of place on a coin. I really don't subscribe to coin collection but I really enjoyed your videos on coins so keep them coming and I will be watching and I have been looking for the WEST POINT AND I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THAT they are so hard to find. Good luck finding THE WEST POINT COINS.
I have one and have had it for three years…..inquired about it and actually called West Point and they told me I was very lucky and to hang on to it and that there was prizes given out ….never heard another word about it
Thx for sharing your knowledge I will start looking at all my coins when I go to the laundromat I will look at all the quarters before putting them in the machine
I have no idea why this video popped up in my recommendations bc I don't do any coin collecting or anything of the sort...BUT...I DID just cash in just under $2000 in almost all quarters a WEEK AGO! Wish it would've popped up a little SOONER! Thanks for all of the info.
I've found a total of 6 'W' mint marked quarters. 3 of them 2019s and the other three were 2020s with the v75 privy mark. My 1st 4 West Points came from 6 rolls from my local grocery store. I'm making up an extra P&D American Women's quarter set for the counter manager's daughter 😂. There's nothing like sharing this hobby with the younger generation.
If anyone would have said to me, "You're going to watch a 30 minute video of a guy opening quarter rolls," I would have told them they're nuts! But I was mesmerized watching your video (and I'm not a coin collector)! It was like I was on a treasure hunt with you! Fun! Are bicentennial quarters (1976) worth anything?
Love your channel. Been watching tgese coin channels for years.z I’m a searcher as well. I e yet to find a W mint mark quarter. Because of the desire to own some I purchase them on eBay. Put away for 10-15 years.
I love doing that! I got my first star note! I have a few good qauters with the w stamp. God bless and thank you for sharing your coins with us ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Tonight I found a fully filled D. This would be the first error coin I have ever found. Great condition and all the other letters on both sides are very distinct. So it can't be from wear. I don't even see marks on it (scratches ) or digs from other coins making it a really attractive example. unusual for pocket change on a coin this old. Happy I watched this episode as I was getting to roll these quarters and take them to the bank. I would have missed it. Thank you.
Loving your channel; I ALWAYS look to your channel for errors to look for. Ever since they announced the ‘coin shortage’ early pandemic time, I’ve hoarded change. Im at the point now where I can’t spend any of it, bc I don’t want to spend a valuable coin! It’s amazing to me that a lot of money is worth more than face value! I don’t have the time to sit down and go through a good amount of coins at once bc I want to be able to inspect each of them, and my young boys (7 and 9) only stay interested for a few minutes. If I find an old one, I can get some love from them haha. I should start with separating them, shouldn’t I? I also have a question: is a double die very common? I wear glasses, but I’d say I feel like I see a dd in at least half of the coins I have looked at. I’ve always said my retirement is in my change cup in the console of my car 😆 Love the channel; it’s exciting to hunt along with you. You’re on your last roll and haven’t found a W yet but you did find the nice die chip on the goggles🤩- I hope you find one!🎉
@@AtmxDawg24 PLEASE explain how you'd go about posting a picture here on youtube. It looks like I'm not the only one wanting to know. Thanks provided you actually respond. ✌️
@@susanserwatka931 There are videos of how to do it on RU-vid, or Google. When I wanted to learn things in school, I would ask the teacher. When I wanted to find out about doing things on the internet, I went on RU-vid and Goggle. NOBODY Taught me anything, Except the folks on these videos. It’s not my responsibility to teach you anything. If I do then you’ll NEVER learn how. Now Stop asking me, Because I won’t respond to this anymore. I responded, aren’t you glad that I did.? Learn for yourself or don’t learn for yourself, makes me no never mind. But consider this: If someone gives in a shows you how, You really didn’t learn anything.
Love your channel. Elderly neighbor who'd been saving coins many years ... now in hospital ... asked me to count, and check his coins. So far over $400. Tons of Indian pennies, regular pennies, quarters, dimes nickels, and a few half's. I'm not even 1/3rd way through. Fun checking. Thanks for your helpful advise. BTW, which video microscope (for coins) do you recommend? Anon, David
The only problem is finding a person to purchase error coins. But that is what I like about this hobby it only takes that 1 coin to make it all worth your time!!!
I could be wrong but a little bit more than halfway through the video you had a 1982 that are notorious for having a die chip mark directly in the middle of their chest.
I found a 2019w about a week ago. Not in the greatest condition, so probably not worth as much as you say. I see them on E-Bay for ~$11. Still, happy to finally add one to my collection.
Just ran into your channel. Subscribed. You give good information. Can I ask how you become so talented in knowing what quarters have value? I'm sure you do research but you make it seem so easy. If you do research can you tell me where to go so I can research also?
I still haven't got one. And I'm a cash person, iv never had plastic cards so everything I buy I get change ....I'll get one though...o yes.....I will !
A little over half way through the video the Wilma Mankiller quarter had a die chip in her hair. Look at the area between the one strand of hair that has a space between it and the rest of her hair on the back side of her head
About 15 years I was working the front desk at a hotel I used to manage. A guest needed quarters for the coin operated washer and dryer. I broke open a roll and dumped it in the till. When the coins fell into to till it had a completely different sound which surprised me. So I grabbed a few and kept dropping them in to figure out the sound. I looked closely a few and saw there were no rigges on any of them and no copper colored bands. They were all from around 1960s. I quickly grabbed another roll to give the guest change for the washers, and took all the coins from the first roll to the back office and got on Google. I wish I would have known to look for any from 1965.
I sold an old stand up jet ski to a random stranger off facebook market place back in 2018 for $900. The freaking buying shows up with a cardboard box. Opens in at its, I kid you not $900 in rolls of quarters. All in cardboard rolls in a yellow frail looking paper I had never seen I'm my life. Looked like they sat in a damp place. I counted the rolls then opened alot of them to make sure he wasn't scamming me. When I broke the rolls I was going quick and talking with the guy not listening to sounds or weights. Nor dates. Sure enough it was $900. Shook hands. Signed the title and off he went. My ex fiancé was gathering them to go to the bank along with a jar of quarters I had kept of pocket change. When she dumped the jar into the pile of quarters I had opened from the rolls. Sounded like aluminum. I was fuckingg passed until I looked at the quarters. Every one in every roll were silver. Tried to get ahold of the guy to let him know in case they were his grandfather's or something. Guy never messaged me back. Got them tested. All were real. Still have them. Now I have an ever growing silver and gold collection.
On the Wilma that had the 3 marks you were debating damage or crack, what did you determine. I've found a bunch of coins with the exact markings. Sometimes there's 2 marks others 3 marks. Always run in a line together. Curious what you decided. Thank you
That’s definitely a die chip on his goggles of the air man. Those quarters can also have died ships on the planes wing - what’s incidentally also called the burning plane. And also look for the chips on the parachute strap.
Love your videos, learned a few things from you. Do you still have a web address for dollar bills? I know I wrote it down when you were doing bills and I misplaced it. Thank you.
Also check the change pocket in the coin star. Coin star will reject silver. I’ve gotten quite a few mercury dimes and a couple silver quarters as I check the coin star every time I walk into a Walmart.
