It's wild to see how much the fashion industry has changed in my lifetime. A hardcover catalog, unfathomable now. Thank you Cole! I'll be dreaming of shoulder pads and bend over jeans tonight!

I think its charming that Sears anticipated their customers really treasuring this catalog, so much so that they hardbound it in advance. Legacy mindset!

Mushrooms??!? I remember having that exact pair pictured, the one on the foot. And YES they were super comfy and lasted forever! Payless did knock offs of that and other styles from the Mushroom brand. Man, I wish they would bring those back 😢

@@ColeChickering White… low heel ugly white shoes. (#3 on 359!!) When it comes to wide and large shoes you take what you can get. Even now that hasn’t really changed much. Pantyhose were mandatory!

i love vintage nightgowns and i have slept in them but yes i noticed really quickly you have to wear underwear or undergarments like leggings or shirts because it rides up and night and gets super annoying, But they cute and can be very warm especially the winter ones :)

They are so much cuter than pretty much any other pajama situation I can think of. Maybe the cuteness trumps the twisty tangly sleeping problems!

Sears was a slightly more upscale than Kmart (duh) or Jcpenneys at the time. If you notice the prices aren’t all that cheap, quite a few of those dressed are $45 or so. My wage in 1986 was $5.26. Average was $7

Yes, I did notice these prices are not so far off from clothing prices we see today! But I'm sure these were way better quality.
