Sears Kenmore 158.1625 convertible (free arm) sewing machine demonstration. Some people refer to these as Vintage sewing machines, these don't have a computer they use a built-in cam stack. These machines when sold came with a 25 years warranty they were very well made and continue to work fine with some basic care and cleaning.

I have this exact machine. Bought it in 1974, if my memory serves me correctly. I've always loved sewing on this machine. I have everything it came with...No troubles with it ever. I think I'll keep it!😁

I have the 158-1941. Virtually the same except for patterns and modifier on the stitch length control. For the money, these can't be beaten. I'm glad you expanded your videos. Thanks again and stay well 🙏

I started making the videos a few years ago to show people before they buy a machine how they work. Never thought this many people would be watching the videos so I'm trying to make them better than when I started.

I'm looking at the 158- 14310 looks almost the same as the 1625 but I don't know if it makes botton holes. I need one that makes them

Hello, Loved the demo video! Very well done! I have just recently "resurrected" a Kenmore 158.1641 (very similar machine), it was seized up when I started working on it. The machine is working perfectly except that the two large dials, stitch width and stitch length, are still very stiff and difficult to turn. I've tried to oil the internal portion of the dials and lay the machine on the front to allow gravity to move oil into the dial mechanism but that hasn't helped much. Is there a trick to lubricating these large dials, I noticed in the video that you are able to turn them easily. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Hair dryer inside machine while turning the dials don't force them.

Hello, I tried the hair dryer technique. Left the dryer on long enough to warm up the machine (7 or 8 minutes). It helped a lot. The dials are still a little bit stiff but they much more easily than before. They'll probably loosen up a bit more with regular use. Thank you so much for your help with this! I saw yesterday, when I left my reply, that I can buy you a cup of coffee via PayPal, I will do this, I'm a coffee addict as well!
