I had one of these as a kid, this is a HUGE nostalgia bomb. I always thought 'minus' was pronounced 'vinus' because of this thing. But, uh, don't give up so easily friend! < = less than. So. 1 < ?? < 99 is choose a number between 1 and 99. It'll let you know if you're higher or lower and update the display. You have to guess the secret number...deduce it, you might say, in a certain number of turns. Also, uh, notice the number of lines in the display when doing the 'follow me' activity. I really appreciate showing off all of the manual in-depth at the end!
I absolutely LOVED this thing. I took it with me everywhere and played it all the time. The sounds brought a flood of memories back from the 80s. So much nostalgia.
I am 40 and I still have mine! My kids, now 18, played with it too.. Way ahead of its time! I love how sternly it scolded you "NO! TRY AGAIN!! THE CORRECT ANSWER IS.....!!!" I also remember that it pronounced the word "apple" like the word "pothole," and "oven" like "boogen."
So this is is one of my earliest and happiest memories I have. Probably the first Christmas present I remember getting. Def got me into my love of computers, and not at all surprising how well my "Santa" knew me even then, and loved me that much more.

It actually made it here to Australia! (But the cheeky sods sealed off the cartridge ports! I guess nobody wanted to make/sell them as competition to Game Boy, Game Gear, Lynx, etc.!)
I bought one of these"new old stock" today in a thrift store for 7 bucks! Couldn't find an appropriate adapter, but the 6 c batteries work. Its amazing to see how tech has evolved.
I loved this computer, I had one as a child and wish I still had it i don't know what happened to it to be honest but I had one and enjoyed every moment with it from the spelling B to the follow me, to math problems it was so much fun. 😉☺️😀😁😁

I remember this. Me and my cousin used to try teach Grandma English on this. Bring back so much memories. Can anyone tell me did anyone ever bought the cartridges? I remember mum said No, it was expensive, just stick with these default basics. I can't seem to find anyone on RU-vid really had those learning cartridges that slips in the slot
@@Brendan-Black OMG wow.....you guys had more than I remembered. We only had some thing in another language (Mandarine or Italian I think) and then there was maths and I think also...geographic cartridge (countries names etc) Man....so much memories.
Reminds me of when my brother's talking teacher,which had been in his bedroom closet for a good 25 years short circuited and said hello through the wall to my room in the middle of the night.
If I had this toy, I would probably have to stop everything that I was doing for the rest of my life and I would probably be playing with this little computer thing for hours and hours. I would probably play on that computer as much as I play on my actual computer. I wish there were games like that that I could put on my computer. This might sound really weird, but even though I am a full grown adult, I still absolutely love playing with toys. I don’t really know how popular of a toy this is and maybe you could even do a video about it but one of my favorite toys that I used to like playing with when I was a kid and I still enjoy playing with it is, the fisher price star stacker toy. It is basically like a little stick, and when you put these little plastic star shaped rings on it, it lights up and makes twinkling sounds and plays different songs. I always have mine under my desk.
"Please choose an activity" It's 2023 and I just randomly thought about this awesome little device from my childhood. I didn't realize, or perhaps forgot, that it was made by Sears. I played with that thing so much and loved the spelling and math tests. Probably why I grew up doing well with both in school and life. This device played such a major role in my education and is also why I love technology. Side note- this device would act all sorts of crazy when the batteries were starting to die. The voice would sound garbled like something from a horror movie 😂😂
Up to the first kids' computer toys used to get a text interphase, such as MS-DOS, Linux, etc. I believed that all the toy computers got a graphic interphase. 😮😅😊
