What an experience! These kids may not realize it, but to replicate this would cost tens of thousands of dollars. My brother and I are renting a Cat in BVI and that's over $15k for just one week. These kids have a captain, a chef, entertainment and they're in a unique part of the world. So lucky! One of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Amazing!! :)

I really like that you posted this observation here. I've made comments about this for years how I think Kate has paid the biggest price for being on the water all these years with her family. When they first started out she was an incredibly bubbly, gregarious, lively little girl and over time she's just become more subdued, more to herself. Of course we don't see her all the time so you know that might be different but certainly she has changed a lot and gotten really quiet and she was always hit really really hard emotionally when they would leave a port that they had stayed at for several weeks or a month where she got to know other young people and she's just very social and I know it's taking a big toll on her all these years to be isolated with just her family and not have social interaction with kids her own age. So I'm very happy to see her with these young people for the next month!

This is something her parents have talked about already in other video's. They said themselves that they're not sure what choice to make, but they are at least trying things. And in my opinion that is more than what many other parents have done. Even if I don't agree with their opinions on other topics. lol I still have to respect the fact they are exploring options for their kids. Even if some are hard set against other options and beliefs in other topics. As they said before, they'll find out how the experiment goes in about 10 years or so. lol Their 20's will be a time of growth as well. So it's not like damage is being done here. Does it shape a person? Sure. Every experience in life has a down side. But you have to look at what they gain as well.

You can just see Ethan and Bella are go getters, I was surprised when you chose Coleman, you kinda got a sense from the kids videos their personalities. You also realise how kids now have such a bond with their phones, very sad and to want to crave wifi is a modern drug. I sailed without family when I was 13, only two weeks on a 44ft ketch rig yacht with four other kids and two adults, it made me and I loved it so much I did it again the following two years and for longer. You look back at what you achieve and it’s so character building, to give up after a week is weak but it’s a different world now, safe spaces etc, not good for future.

There were a couple things I caught about Coleman’s situation. Keith greeted him onboard by saying hey “Big Man” and slapping his shoulders. One small remark we saw but we also saw him given the smallest berth in the peak because he was short. I can imagine it felt claustrophobic and being hot and seasick in that captain’s peak was no doubt miserable. The accommodations were not equal and just because Coleman looks like a tough young man who knows if he’s been bullied about his height in the past. Renee alluded to drama on the boat. We will never know the complete story but it pains me to see the type of remarks being made about Coleman. He made a decision and that probably wasn’t easy. We don’t know what his circumstances were at home. I would think there is a normal attrition rate on a trip like this and his leaving will make it easier to handle logistics. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe Rene and Kieth. Can pick up another young male in Saudi for example. Bon Voyage Zatara and all the kids left. Thank you Keith and Rene for giving this opportunity to these young people. Generous and kind.

"What team oriented activities were you involved in at school such as sports, marching band, scholastic clubs, etc.?" "What part-time jobs did you have after school in your junior & senior years and during summer break where there was a boss or manager over you?" "What specific expectations and chores are expected of you in your parents' house?" (yard work, car washing, babysitting, etc.) Just some random thoughts. But as a parent of three boys, all about the same age as Coleman, Ethan, et al, I would have strongly encouraged them to stick it out - not because I was "punishing" them for having normal human emotions but because it is very important for young adults to learn how to struggle through their emotions in order to fulfill a commitment. So I think what an excellent opportunity you are giving these young adults to have an experience of a lifetime. I also think that kids benefit from both the good and bad interactions ... getting along in tight quarters isn't easy and your doing an excellent job with so far! At this age they really haven't had this kind of freedom. When I heard about this my first thought was there would likely be some going home early, but for those who stay ... its probably the biggest reward because the journey has only just begun! It's nice that everyone is having a good time, but it's especially sweet to see Kate enjoying herself. We all get to know your kids a little bit( talking to Mom & Dad here,) and you've given them such a rich life filled with adventure and personal interactions as you hopscotch across the planet.

Out of all of the people that applied for this adventure, they all should realize that it's just a month or so. Anything at their homes should have been sat aside, and enjoy a vacation at the expense of the Host family. I know they are all very young but SO many others (that didn't get chosen) would have loved to be there. I hope the others will stick it out, after all, this episode ate up about a week of the experience.

The best thing about this episode is that with the excuse of the new guests experiencing some basic sailing for the first time, you did some gorgeous footage and shots that might otherwise appear mundane in your eyes after hundreds of videos. (the dolphins riding the bow, the scenic shot of the bow with the crew's backs facing the camera, as well as the other shots of the crew chilling on deck and at the bow, the slow-mo shots of the waves... Good stuff!

What a great experience for all these kids. I am very happy for the Zatara kids, Jack, Kate and Finn. They are the ones who will make the most out of interacting with boys and girls their age. They're all seem to be having a blast, and this is in a Marina in Saudi Arabia whilst doing boat work. Can't imagine a young crew like that in the South Pacific or island hopping in the Caribbean. Hey Keith and Renee, if you're ever back on the Dominican Republic, look me up and I'll take all you guys out to lunch and see the sights! Much love from the DR!

It is not for everyone. My husband was in the Navy for 4 years he can relate. But before that when he was 12 or so, a family from the church his parents attended had him go to Florida from Illinois and live on a boat with their son Brad for the entire summer. Greg had a blast and never wanted to come home according to my mother in law. My husband has very fond memories of the experience.

Our 14 year and 5 month old homeschooled son would L💓VE to take Cole's place ‼️😁🌊⛵💪He enjoys surfing, bodyboarding, scateboarding, scootering and soccer as activities. He sailed with a friend on a 2 man dinghy in April this year. His friend has been sailing for a while. It was our son's first time and he participated in a 24hr MILNERTON AQUATIC CLUB CHALLENGE sailing competition on Rietvlei dam in Table Bay Nature Reserve and loved it! Teams of 8-10 youngsters were competing and taking turns to sail. The dinghy's had to stop around midnight due to stormy winds and started again early the next morning. What an experience‼️

The best way to deal with nausea is to do things that are active, if that doesn't work, they do have Eat light, bland foods (such as saltine crackers or plain bread) Ginger ale, and if that doesn't work after a few weeks, consult a doctor. Might be stress related homesick, or a health problem like acid reflux or Gerd. Being on the sea is an incredible experience, I loved it.

What do they all do on such a small boat? Are they free to eat/drink anytime they want or it's rationed as the supplies would get low before the next port of call? So many little things to consider to be with others for a month. Boredom will likely settle in at some point for some of them. Looks like everyone is having a great time but that's what is being filmed to put up on YT. 1 girl said "there's been drama" but she doesn't say what the drama was. It can't be "fun" everyday on a small boat with a bunch of other teenagers lol

@@MissX905 The girl who said that was Kate (the daughter). So who knows what the "drama" was..But 5 strangers added to 3 siblings (& 2 adults) is quite the mix. My first thought, even at age 70, were memories of my crippling monthly cramps & all that went with it (tmi) so I wish the gals well just on that note!
