Black Box Revelation is a Belgian garage rock band. It was formed in 2005 by vocalist and guitarist Jan Paternoster and drummer Dries Van Dijck. Well done guys!! On stage with Seasick Steve!! Legends!
122Music, I am hoping to God that this virus isolation tragedy has taught us all to look at what's important & what we been wasting our time paying attention to. I hope my 22 yr old daughter's generation feels the same & I can tell she does. Her & her Boyfriend went fishing & camping & when they got to go out, they've only been hanging out with us or his relatives.
I’ve watched Steve talk to a crowd of thousands in a field in summer while he pulls up a lady to serenade and the whole field didn’t have a problem. There was plenty of talking in the crowd but it was a festival. Fair enough. I’m not a full time musician but if the music’s good and the banter from performer, particularly someone like Steve, is part of the show then, yeah it’s cool. Normally at a decent venue you’d just have a word with the door staff and tell them about the prick making the noise. Normally works. Sometimes you just tell them to shut the fuck up if you can be bothered with hassle that night. But I love and live for it so I tend try both.
I like the Kustom amp, reminds me of John Fogerty. Why do people bother going to concerts if they want to talk, and demonstrate how witty they are-some folks are just fucked in the head.
On Glen's tv show there was a running gag where he tried to get John to talk. There was apocryphal folklore about John not joining some union. But then there was: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jsTLgqXxPl4.html
Had never heard of Seasick Steve till the New Year of 2016/17 (31/12/16) - and was mesmerised by his playing. And have always thought Glenn Campbell's version of Gentle on My Mind couldn't be beaten - although Dean Martin's version is a close 2nd. But Steve's version has so much feeling and pathos - I'm going to have to have a re-think! And whereas Glenn's Roadies/Security would have kicked that loudmouth right outta the show, I truly believe Steve would have done it himself, had it become necessary! :-)
I'm sure it's down there in the belly of the comments but "Gentle on My Mind" is by John Hartford. Glenn Campbell may have sung it but he didn't write it.
The same thing happened when we saw him at third man records in Nashville a few years back! If people want to get drunk, I wish they’d just go to a bar.
I’m thinking that not to many “dime a dozen” artists get to work with John Paul Jones and they definitely don’t play didley bows @ Royal Albert Hall. Steve’s a musical fookin’ genius! Sure woulda liked to see Steve whoop that boy’s ass. Go get’em Steve! You the man!
This was in the old Tivoli in Utrecht one cold evening, Steve was fabulous, the few arseholes at the bar not so. Never seen such a humble man on stage, made it large at a late stage in his life but has quickly become many a person's musical hero in that short time.
Glenn Campbell, Dean Martin, Patti Page, Lenny Dee, Bill Anderson, Aretha Franklin along with Seasick Steve and many others also covered the song, John Hartford WROTE & RECORDED it April of 1967. Glenn Campbell covered it June of 1967. Glen Campbell had the hit, but completely secondary to the conversation 3 years ago
Hey ya Steve When u next playing in Cornwall, I know you like to surf but have you tried kayak fishing yet? I have two yaks and jackets if you fancy a trip? Actual catching of fish not garuanteed😂 but there will always be a backup dinner dude👍
Men and women used to be able to reinvent themselves with great success before the advent of the great and wonderful computer age. The funny thing is, a whole lot on the internet is BS. I'm listed as having lived in several places I've never been by some of the so-called "information gathering sites". Long live Steve Wold, a throwback to a better era!
No he's not. He is a studio musician who came up with this gimmick of being a hobo. He was never homeless - always lived in a house. In fact, he was a disco performer in the day.
It's always odd when people throw out a question like that, expecting someone to reply. Should they be posting tabs for the song You don't know that tabs for every song you can think of are just one Google search away?
It's a good job he made those people shut up so he could tell his story. It was such a great story. Think it's the best story I've ever heard. In fact it might be the best story ever told in the world ever. Imagine if those people hadn't shut up - we might never have heard seasick steve's story. Can you even begin to imagine how awful that would have been?
Damn, I'm embarrassed to be Dutch sometimes. We literally don't know how to shut the fuck when someone's playing. They don't call it The Dutch Disease for nothing.
Never understood people talking so much during a show. I saw Prince in a small club and was way up front. Bitch besides me decided this was the place to have a discussion. That didn't last too long.
Except he never was a hobo. The whole act was invented - every part of his story is a made up character. Just a dime a dozen musician who came up with this angle to build his act.
"By 1982 he was a member of the splendidly named Clean Athletic and Talented (or CAT for short), writing and singing on their Woman and Sports album and their awkwardly titled single I Love to Touch Young Girls." LOL
If he was walking down a road towards the where the car was coming from out of the haze, then the car was travelling in the opposite direction so why would it stop to pick up a hitchhiker... I always thought this man was a fraud and he has been exposed as such by the media,
YES THAT'S PRETTY LIKELY ESPECIALLY IF THERE WEREN'T MANY CARS AND YOU WERE HOPING TO GET A RIDE....CAN YOU IMAGINE JUST CARRYING ON WALKING AS THOUGH YOU DIDN'T NEED A LIFT?
