Really a bummer that the timed round with free buzzers for the category round was removed - it feels like it has much less agency for the players now 😓 I remember when it was possible to finish an entire six-category round if you were fast enough!

Absolutely love the new format of the category round. It has become a clearly distinct round from the buzzer rounds. It’s more like quiz bowl team questions and offers unique team conferring and strategy and is not just a buzz-fest by the 2-4 top players. Fantastic change.

I would change the point values for the category round from 10-15-20-25-30 (total=100) to 5-10-15-20-25 (total=75), so each team can earn up to 150 with their two categories, but there’s less risk of a 60-pt swing from incorrect response on a 30pt question. This would limit the impact from a bad category choice.
