Congrats on catching your first cow But I must say swimming out in a wetsuit and flippers offshore at the tip of Montauk to go fishing is one of the craziest things I've ever seen anyone do LOL
I remember camping at hither hills in fall 1998 and 1999, it was super quiet and peaceful back then. Fast forward to 2010 when I had to stand at the top of hither hills at 3am on a Wednesday night to yell "shut up you retards, it's time to go to bed". Scenes changed big time from when I was a kid, and according to my family I've been around during the most drastic changes in the scene too. I feel like the progression of the 4wd brought a lot more people out as well, once they were more widely owned I noticed a huge increase in traffic out there. Between that and the internet I've literally watched the entire scene change out there
I grew up jetty-jumping the Jersey shore and it's all hairy: Montauk, Asbury, Spring Lake, Longbranch... I used to literally run up and down the jetties to get in shape for skiing. This year I'm gonna try to make the trip to the CCC, I think I can handle it. I'll leave Montauk to the "skishermen". Good video.
Lol,Ive been running and working 6 pack boats for 36 seasons in Montauk and these guys are googans.Anyone who swims out in a wet suit to fish the flood tide rip while we are dragging wire is a Googan
You can't fillet , glad you got to go with Alberto he is awesome , Toad is great too , and Paul well a big self promoter who couldn't catch a fish outside of montauk .
Paul wrote an awesome book as well. But I aint sure I would have gone out in shark invested waters on that crazy dudes word that ""Its safe" especially at night. But Alberto Whos Nickname is Crazy I would go lol
THERE WAS A TIME IN CALIFORNIA WHEN THE SURF FISHING FOR STRIPERS WAS FABULOUS, BUT THE GOVERNMENT MANAGED TO DESTROY IT WILL ALL THEIR DAMS, AND NOW INSTEAD TO DINNING ON FRESH COUGHT STRIPPERS AND SALMON WE ALL ENJOY EATING ALMONDS.
ABSOLUTELY TRUE......That's the toughest most critical part of the end game when fighting/ landing a bass from a rocky shoreline.....This is why your leader needs to be at least 50-80lbs lbs test line and at least 36" long (or a long handle gaff in the lip ONLY) also its important to try to pre-plan where to lead the fish for the best possible spot to land it and not have it get trapped between the rocks
Thank you for uploading this! Been looking all over. What is that vegetable you placed with your striped bass recipe over the fire? And where can I get "Slap yo mama" seasoning!?
fish there every october .... thank God that since they did the revitalization of the rocks and added a fishermans ledge, its not as dangerous as shown in this video anymore. great fishing in montauk
As crazy as it looks, it does look fun! I just wouldnt want my reel and all my equipment soaking in saltwater like that. Costs too much replacing and repairing gear amd lures.
Todd Spencer it’s like anything else if your not comfortable in the water don’t do it. No difference from those who surf dive or spearfish. Can’t knock people who found own way to have fun
Cool vid.i deff respect all the sharpies on montauk.but here in Rhody we actually try to find a rock to fish off of when were skishing.i think all the other guys do to on montauk.....except the toad..i dont think i could fish without earplugs around this guy....alberto will make most of these guys silly.theres something to be said about silence
Googan is actually the name of a freshwater soft lure brand. Googans belong at the pond 🤷 although the trout fishing is absolutely amazing at Lake Montauk 😎
am I the only one who called the bluff on that "cow" they lost on the rocks with Alberto..... is that a joke? that was a sound bite of a reel screaming drag...he didn't have a fish on.
lol everything is so over sized at the states.. the Japanese use half the size of the gear to catch the same fish, you dont need such giant lures and rods and reels to catch 10 pound stripers...
i watch japanese fishing videos for years.. they fish 10 pound seabass with a 5000 stella... they use the same size of reels you guys use for hiramasa which is yellowtail...
The host's personality is really obnoxious. The way he's telling them they're wrong and to shut up. I know he is joking, but it is still disrespectful to these guys that refined surfcasting and invented the sport of skishing. They were probably old enough to know the first guys to even wear a wetsuit to fish back in the 50s. These guys are hardcore.
