After a few trips to the Packery Channel Jetty, I am finally able to put a video together. In this video, we target anything that swims with my favorite live bait method that I use 99.99999999% of the time when at Packery! This trick is to keep it simple, let that live bait do the work for you! The first portion of the video will go over some catches, and the last few minutes I will break down rigging and why it can be such a deadly tactic! Packery Channel has held a special place in my heart for years when it comes to targeting multiple species on the Texas coast. I hope this video helps you catch some fish on your next visit!

What a great video. I have fished the packer jetties since I was a kid and I never fished from the beach toward the jetties. Wow, you just earned another sub. Thank you so much.

Thank you for the detailed info at the end! I fished on the other side by the bridge the other day and caught nothing. I'll be using your info and going back right away. Thanks again!

Just found your channel yesterday and am now subscribed. Great content ...thank you! Hey, my husband and I are pretty new to saltwater fishing & anytime we fish at Packery we constantly got hung up in the rocks. What's your advice? Especially when using shrimp and cut bait.

Thank you! If I’m being honest, If you aren’t fishing IN the rocks you aren’t fishing packery right. I’d suggest just simplifying your approach up, use minimal gear. I know in this video I only use a hook with a split shot above. Leave the heavy weights and double-triple drop rigs at home. Using just a hook and split shot it’s easy to re-tie, gives it a good natural presentation, and once you get the feel for it, it will save you on tackle. Also, I notice a lot of people set the hooks on rocks, I’m guilty of it too, but I try and keep a little bit of pressure between me and the bait when I let it drift so I can feel the rocks. Sometimes all you have to do it lightly pull and you can break free as compared to yanking it as hard as you can!

Well ...we'll have to try this out because it is definitely a whole new approach to jetty fishing from what I've seen. I guess simple is better! Thanks again!!

@kardiac outdoors whats a good time to fish the packery for Mangroves?
@KardiacOutdoors
@KardiacOutdoors 3 года назад
I catch them anywhere from May to October. I have had really good trips late August through September. If you can get live finger mullet or mojarra and find where they are congregated on the rocks, you can slay them!

Looks like a #4 maybe #5 Circle Hook.

Yes I’m horrible at sizing hooks but main takeaway is small enough to catch mangroves!

Wind man, if you can plan a weekend with low winds… water clears up and fishing can be red hot. September to mid-October will start to get good, mullet migration is upon us!

Nice video. What type of hook did you use?
@KardiacOutdoors
@KardiacOutdoors 3 года назад
I typically use small size circle hooks! Small enough to catch mangrove, but big enough to handle trouts and redfish!

What size braid and what do you use for a leader?
@KardiacOutdoors
@KardiacOutdoors 2 года назад
I typically use 15-20lb braid and anywhere from 30-50 fluorocarbon leader!
