Draft geeks unite!!! It's time for the NFL Scouting Combine!!!!
On today's show I'll share my thoughts on which position groups I'll be watching the closest, including one that's of a particular need for the Seahawks - and some of the specific players to keep an eye on who may be a fit.
And I'll weigh in one John Schneider's comments yesterday about the QB position, and why I think it may shine a spotlight on one particular day 2 prospect.
Finally, a quick salary cap update - how the Seahawks can quickly gain enough cap space to resign some of their key free agents without doing anything too extreme.

John’s QB comments made me think of Bo Nix. Going to Auburn and getting decimated, everything goes wrong for him and he held the team together, goes to Oregon and immediately becomes a leader even when they loose he pulls the team together. Not to mention what he did with his adopted brother Tez Johnson. Kids dad kill’s himself after his mom dies and becomes an orphan over night, and Bo goes to his dad and says adopt him and his dad does. Tez goes to Oregon with Bo and becomes a legit receiver.

I would really like the Seahawks pick him up. It would be great to have him develop for a year under Geno and Lock.

Is there any possibility that BWagz could become a coach with the Hawks? He is such a leader and so football smart. I think Jordyn Brooks' play improved tremendously under Bobby's tutelage!

That would be awesome! However I suspect Bobby has other business ideas outside football he’s going to pursue.

Agree with both points. Would love to see B-Wags as a coach,think he'd be terrific, but he's already got a solid business mind, considering he's been his own agent for the last several years, and he may opt for that after he hangs up his cleats.

Good analysis. I have been picking Spencer rattler in the 3rd or 4th round or wait longer and get a Joe Milton. It really all depends on how we build from the inside out in our first few picks.

Dline: payne, oliver, q. Williams, simmons, madubuike, many dline players take 1,2, even three years to get rolling. Its a good class. No need to wait til you "need," dline.

Dan, another possibility is to draft a QB and keep him on the practice squad where you can then protect 4 players each week from being poached. You do not need to keep 3 QBs on the roster if you draft a QB.

Teams can still “poach” by offering a spot on their 53, so it’s still essentially being willing to devote a roster spot.

If we draft a QB then we will probably just have to have 3 QB’s on the active roster this year. Can’t risk him getting taken by another team if he’s on the practice squad. Need LB’s in a major way. Would love to clean house completely with that group. Tired of TE’s having career days against us.

Adams is cooked. He's set to be paid almost top 5 defender any position per cap hit. He's not even a top 30 safety.

Hey Dan. Just watched your podcast. Excellent as always. I knew before you said Spencer Rattler youd come up with him,troible is RAMS are fave to tale him. We'll see. I'm from the uk so you're podcast is very informative. I have a question... Do you think this year that as we don't have many picks (depending on what schneider does at the draft) that we may end up sigming a load of undrafted free agents instead to fill the many gaps?n

Really like Bralen Trice. Agreed! Also like Byron Murphy. Just rewatched the UW Longhorns game. More interested in Penix Jr also, if we develop and improve the O line beforehand and let him percolate under Geno. Also like Newton. Hope we get Queen in FA w/ Jordan.

Ypu can go through any roster the seahawks have put together over the last few years and come up with wasted roster spaces. To pretend you can't carry a third QB when you seemingly always have an extra receiver that cannot get on the field cause they didn't scout him properly... Fullback hybrid linebackers that never see the field because they're not impactful at either position. Defensive lineman drafted to trams to o line... I think the Schneider-Mscdonald braintrust are going to have a much more potent and deep roster and make room for a developmental QB..

Jordyn Brooks has allowed 13 touchdowns over the past three years while in coverage. The passer rating against him has never gone below 100. He’s not good in coverage.

Bobby Wagner should retire as a seahawk still a valuable player didn't he make the probowl until we find 2 linebackers that compliment each other Bobby can be used on running downs or rotation he's still a tackling machine

Here is what everyone needs to remember we are now in Mike MacDonald’s era and no longer can we assume that this college player will fit the Seahawks because you are looking at it from the perspective of Pete Carrol!

Good point! We really don't know how Coach Mike wants to draft; we also don't know how Herr Schneider drafts without PC by his side...can't wait to find out!
