Without Boost mode enabled on either machine, does the X7 (with Boost mode) adjust better to carpet than the X4 (boost mode version)?

I replaced our 7 year old Dyson DC40 Animal erp that was beginning to fail with a Sebo Felix back in February, and I absolutely love the Felix, have been very impressed with it, and always look forward to vacuuming with the Sebo 😁 The suction and airflow the Felix has is far better than any Dyson upright, I've had it for a month and 6 days now, still on the bag it came fitted with, it's about 3 quarters full, and the machine still has more suction/Airflow than the DC40 ever did. Our carpets always look brand new after running the Sebo over them, and I bought the extension hose and a Dyson tool converter kit for the machine, so I could clean to the top of the stairs and use the tangle free turbine and Dusting brush with it. And I know what you mean about them falling over, our Felix has fallen over several times whilst I've been using the extension hose, I always hold onto the machine when I'm not using the extension hose, but I now lie the Felix on it's side at the bottom of the stairs to prevent it falling. We've had bagless and bagged vacs and like yourself I much prefer bagged vacs, Bagged Vacuums are the best, they're definitely not old fashioned and tend to be the longest lasting. Sebo vacuums are the best, I love ours lots ❤️

Before switching the machine off you should actually put it in the upright position. Then the brush roller will rise to the highest position. That protects the floor and when you use it the next time on a different floor, it will lower to the best height.

I have a Miele upright that is beautiful but I love my Felix more. I love the floor in your house. The carpet looks so nice and the tile floor looks so nice. I have tiles on my floor that look like wood and large area rugs. They definitely need to put a switch on that machine to give you the option of turning the brush roll off. How much money could that cost them.

The company I work for is now in shared office and the lovely handyman guy who looks after the communal areas uses a couple of Sebo X1s, I’m always a little jealous when I see him using them. We used to have an X4 at our old premises before, and on Friday afternoon when we’d all clean up I’d rush to get to the Sebo first. The guy now also uses shake ‘n’ vac (I assume, if not he buys his cocaine from Lush) which I’m not keen on, but the cleaning and filtration is unsurpassed, totally agree ref the Sebo filter and bag solution…

I have used Sebo uprights on many different hard floors without damage. If this is a concern, then yes buy a dedicated hard floor nozzle or look at the Sebo Felix with a powerhead that can be turned off for hard floors or a parquet floor nozzle can be fitted in place of the power nozzle.

Roger, have Sebo improved the boost setting. Compared to the Felix (I have an X7 pet bought in 2017 and both the 1300 watt and current 875 watt Felix) on boost the X7 does not deep clean as well as the Felix. ( In fact the new Felix performs equally as well in Eco guise compared to my 12 year old original.) Given your plush carpet in your lounge I would definitely recommend the X7 model as it can adjust to such a plush carpet. I must admit the X7 is one of my all time favourite machines behind the Electrolux 500 and Twin Turbo machines but I remain disappointed that it does not perform as well as the Felix despite both machines sharing the same brush bar. What are your thoughts?
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic Год назад
The X7 is better for longer and plusher pile but the Felix is best for shorter pile carpets and hard floors.
@MarthaMansbridge
@MarthaMansbridge Год назад
If you really want a Sebo but not the Felix (though I think Felix is their best machine) then the commercial Evolution 300 is the best bet - it’s basically the same sort of machine as the X and XP ranges but has a manually adjustable brush bar like the Felix. Our Automatic X1 just never has the right height for our carpets - so it seems to skim over them without much in the way of pile grooming. I don’t believe the X4 or X7 range is really any different in terms of what’s under the fancy colours and badges.

There are two X7 models in graphite as far as I know. One exclusive to John Lewis and one exclusive to Euronics stores, so you would need to specify which one. In my opinion if you have mainly hard floors I wouldn’t buy an upright of any make, especially a Sebo X7.

You don’t need a rotating brush to clean a hard floor. Most uprights scatter dirt on a hard floor unless you can turn off the brushroll which you can’t with an X7. If you want an upright, I would suggest the Felix rather than the X7.

I think Sebo is probably the best brand of vacuums that are still being made, and I agree, the Felix is probably the best upright available. Bagged vacuums are definitely not old fashioned, what all of the bagless marketing doesn't tell you is that when you dump out a bagless vacuum, dust goes everywhere, and the filters must be washed or replaced much more frequently, I think bagged vacuums are better by far.

I owned my Sebo X7 for about 9 months. While using the **hose** today the vacuum cord was sucked up into the brush and it destroyed the cord. I wouldn't think that could happen when using the hose. I'm extremely disappointed. I watched several RU-vid videos before make my purchase and one of those videos demonstrated that the you could run over the hose and it would not get sucked up into the brush. Don't believe it folks, it's not true. My vacuum is useless now.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 11 месяцев назад
Your vacuum is not useless. You would need to buy a handle and cord assembly available from Sebo and it will work again. The instructions warn you not to run over the power cable and to keep the machine upright when using the hose. Any upright vacuum cleaner can damage the cord if you run over it or it gets sucked up into the machine. The Sebo will cut off power to the brush roller if anything gets sucked into the rotating brush, but damage may still happen to the cord. In this video I warn that the brush continues to rotate when using the hose and care must be taken that nothing gets sucked into the machine and to keep children away from the moving parts.

Most vacuums never lose suction. They do, however, lose airflow. The only machine not losing airflow while operating is anything that uses the Newcombe Separator and water bath system, the most recognizable brand is Rainbow by Rexair. They also don't stink like bagged systems do. There is also one thing they can do that even the Eurovacs like Sebo, Lindhaus or Miele can't is the pick up of water, so they double as a wet cleaner as well, mopping floors, washing carpets and upholstery. Unlike the various Numatic wet and dry machines, little is done to go from wet to dry or dry to wet, with the exception of emptying the water pan. That being said, Sebo's machines are made to be high quality, but it bothers me that they don't include a dusting brush and the optional one isn't made with natural fibres like horsehair. The newest Rainbow model comes with a box full of standard attachments but the Sebo doesn't is very strange to me. The brushroll design on Sebo machines, albeit convenient, but one problem stands out to me: When it comes to the point that when it comes time to replace the brush roll, there's a lot of plastic in it, it also looks like the power head is 4" tall, limiting the areas like under furniture for effective cleaning. The shortest brushrolls I can think of are on Shark, but like you said, when it comes to replacing the brushroll, you have to replace the whole head, literally like throwing the baby, water and tub out. The other problem with the brushroll on Sebo and those offered in similar configurations you are still using the same bushings and bearings. Looking at some other cleaners, you can change out only the brush strips, like the Eureka Vibra-Groom Rainbow PN2 and PN3 designs. The Rainbow PN3 and Eureka as well as other similar brushrolls are made of steel (stainless with Rainbow PN3) can be recycled. The bag design seems unusually small, like other Eurovacs, on this machine. The filter tube that runs up the side of the machine actually has the same problem as the bottom filters, as the air coming in the bag as well as the dirt, are automatically pulled to that side of the cleaner blocking off airflow. If it was a little more compartmentalized that may not be so much of an issue. The other problem with modern HEPA bags is that they are ultimately made of plastic fibre, being a bit more detrimental to the environment than the conventional paper bag. I still think if you were to purchase a vacuum cleaner your best option for a dry bagged machine is a Henry canister with its generous bag size, simple build without microcontroller boards and the ability of attaching a power nozzle. I would probably choose the Wessel-Werk EBK340 or EBK360, both relatively simple nozzles from a country that tends to go overboard in engineering products.

Okay, so I bought a SEEBO 7 ... and here's my review without the waffle: MADE IN GERMANY - pah! ON THE WHOLE: I think a number of reviewers or comments are from people who having bought the vacuum, feel obliged to say it's wonderful because they feel stupid otherwise... I don't. You may get a vacuum that lasts for years but who want's one that's fiddly and downright awkward to use, expensive and has limited functionality? I think SEEBO are churning out this vacuum because people buy it regardless. Made in Germany - You'll hear a great deal about 'made in germany coming from these reviews, don't fall for it ! Just remember, made in germany gave us a mercedes most built by parts from China, so it's a redundant misleading feature. Yes, the vacuum may last longer but then it also costs a good deal more and probably as a result, is not looked after. SEEBO has large amounts of plastic just like any other. SUCTION Amount of suction: SEEBO does have a good amount of suction. It's not excessive, it jus picks up most dirt, though it will stick to a carpet under certain conditions. But by and large, any reasonable vacuum should accomplish this and even the author of this video is 'surprised' by the dirt suction from a Dyson roller-ball, which is much the same price (200). REAL WORLD SITUATIONS You'll see lots of videos of large amounts of trash deposited on the carpet, this is not a very good way to tell you if the machine works well, you simply won't ever come up against that kind of trash unless you're some kind of hermit nut, so forget about it, - SEEBO picks up enough that you won't care anyway. OTHER BELLS AND WHISTLES? Apart from the 'made in germany' what else is good about the SEEBO? Well, probably not a lot. ... For a start, what this video does not show you, is the amount of pushing and pulling you have to do with a vacuum in the course of an hour or so. SEEBO may be made in germany, but it's pushed in all sorts of homes, and frankly, because SEEBO have not altered their machines in a long while, probably because it's expensive and not a money spinner, they have not looked into how you the customer uses them. The hand grip for instance is badly made from formed plastic, you will find that after an hour pushing, your hand will be numb with the badly formed grip, and after two hours, you'll want to rest - a completely avoidable design fault. STUPID WAND!! The there is the hose connection, or wand, This. wand looks good sitting in the side of the vacuum ready for action, however, no, it's not, The hose to the wand gets wrapped around the handle and makes it very awkward to use. It's heavy and unwieldy, and moreover, it does not extend very far at all ! I've seen a number of vacuums which have an extending tube to give you a further reach, but no, SEEBO were asleep when that particular feature rolled out. I found myself getting very frustrated with this wand, which got entangled in the handle or which required a lot of 'pull' to keep it extended. Absolutely pointless. BRUSH ACCESSORY The brush accessory is also pretty dumb. It clips onto the main handle (and gets in the way). You have to rotate the brush to the surface you're ...brushing (?) and it's not an easy thing to guess, meaning, yes, you're fiddling with the brush on the wand once again. WASTE BAG Waste bag. Well, all I can think is that the girl on the video must have had a lot of practise. When you close the bag it naturally pushes out of the panel and needs to be pushed back in. If you take the bag out, it is again, difficult to put back in (and it's only disposable! you can't reuse it. However a week odd later and I still have not used the maximum capacity. BRUSH ROLLERS. FAULTS - the brush rollers stick, they are also fiddly to get out and any hair gets tangled around them. POWER CORD FAULTS - I don't know about the power cord being a quality product, it looks thinner than many I've seen and there's no labelling to say the rating, like you'd have on a quality product. The cable feels cheap to me. CABLE EATING VACUUMS Cabling Eater Be Ware!! One thing the SEEBO excels at is cabling of any sort - much of today's wiring consists of chargers and telephone cables and SEEBO manages to eat them, churn them round in the roller and grind to a halt. I don't like that. FORM FACTOR Form factor - SEEBO make a range of vacuum cleaners all with the same dull 'X17' moniker - you can go on their site to try and see what vacuum you want but soon get lost which I find personally annoying. especially as I hoped that a floor extension vacuum was not just a tube which you push fitted to the extension but otherwise was a large floppy hose that you hato put somewhere. It's simply ridiculous to have so many versions and colours. AUTOMATIC level sensing for carpets. - We've got a great fanfare about this 'microprocessor' but in reality it seems to be more marketing. The level sensing works but works pretty slowly perhaps triggered in about 5 seconds ? I don't want to wait to watch it level down to the harder floor or taller carpet, a manual device would have been much better and probably less of something to go wrong. So. that's my gripe about this vacuum. I wanted a SEEBO because of all the hype and it looks like I'm stuck with one, it's boring, it's functional and for most people, it's fiddly and trying to use. Would I have a SEEBO again? - nah! it's a lot of dosh for a marketing ploy and even if I chose a cheaper machine, I'd still have several years worth or be able to return it. (I wonder if the SEEB refuse warranty's if the machine is old? QUIET MOTOR The motor is quite - a plus! and the head does go down to the ground level (plus) but the vacuum is unwieldy and has not been designed for a modern house with furniture to get around. I think perhaps that a good cylinder vacuum would have been better. I don't rate the SEEBO just because it's 'made in germany - that's hype. I Don't think that a lot of these reviews have anything to do with real world situations. I would suggest that we review videos need to stop pandering to a formulated video and get real, Unboxing is not real, deposing trash on a carpet is not real, hovering up a pile of carpet is not real, Customers need to know exactly what's going to be difficult in a in around their home. Note however, that SEEBO in their wisdom, do not stop the motor when you are using the it to clean the car. you therefore suck up all sorts of dirt from the ground... how daft is that? HOME USE: SEEBO vacuums are difficult to use in a home environment where the ergonomics make it difficult to navigate around objects. STAIR EXTENSION I cannot fault the stari extension enough. This is truly a heath robinson accessory that has been cobbled together a the a last minute. Your 40 pounds (or whatever) buys you a large unwieldy plastic tube. Totally inexcusably rubbish. WEIGHT When you're pushing this vacuum around, the suction makes it feel heavy - there's not vent to reduce the vacuum. As noted, be careful. If you get a model with a stair extension, you simply get a large corrugated pipe that is a pain to lug around.There are several vacuums with stair extensions. So why can't SEEBO make something better? and without the cost? SUMMARY - SEEBO is a good machine with limited functionality. It may be German but that is no reason to assume it will last. SEEBO vacuums are badly designed for the modern home. SEEBO have poor functionality, and are not ergonomic. i.e, they can be tiring to use and there are more capable machines out there. Ensure that whatever vaccuumm you buy has a good warranty including labour.

Well I’m thinking of getting a Seebo XP. I think it will be fine on my wool Persian carpets in my very large old historic Victorian house, with big airy rooms, and plenty of space between furniture, and NO plastic laminate flooring. I can’t use canister vacuums as I am tall, and bending over those short sticks, and tugging away at them dislodges a disc in my spine. I got fed up with cutting my fingers on pieces of vulgar ‘purple’ plastic which kept breaking of the 4 ball Dysons I’ve had, and which had to be disposed of before two years. If I don’t get the Sebo, I will try a second hand Kirby which are still made in America I think.
