My first trip to Florida was staying at Sebring, Florida, and I loved the town Yes, it was full of. elders that went there back and forth from their winter homes, their summer homes. But then if they can afford it, they worked for it. They have a right to go there and do that. I was fascinated with the old towns, especially when I spent a few nights at Sebring with my husband in the kennel words lodge. It was like going back in time to gone with the wind coming down that beautiful stair railing all polished up in the steer rug. Red is could be. I felt like I was in the movies are. rooms walked down long hallways with beautiful antique rugs covering the floors. The doors each had a number and each key had a number pad on it. It was wonderful. Each room had a open window above the room. I didn't. see anything falling apart with the rooms. I did note that domains were not happy with their job. Probably because they weren't paid enough, but they were accommodating the hotel. clerk was accommodating and the new bar they put in downstairs was OK, but I thought it was kind of trash in the hotel out, but I know it was needed to try to gain funds for the hotel., the elders that had bought space at the hotel first winter fun were getting up there and passing on. So leaving the open spaces for other people. But other people didn't want to pay the high cost of the summer spots. Arnold Palmer was one of them that stayed there. I met him on the patio. The hotel was covered in Rose Bush's and hydrandeans and beautiful flowers in their swimming pool was outstanding. I remember. my catching the geckos as they ran about at the pool, running back and forth, trying to touch your arm and then run away. I remember the little cabins around the pool where people rented and stayed in them. That was their summer spot for the winter. Then they would go back home. It's too bad them spots can't be rented out to save the motel. And I hate the way people are trashing it.
just got this camera this is called hyperview, and yes it is odd. i wanna drop a series of videos on this setting to see how the views do long term. it could be bad or good, will take a while to really know
I stayed in that hotel back in 2002 around there im 70 today, it was not haunted and it was wonderful like a Gone with the Wind moment and that's what it is i stood out on the outside patio with Arnould palmer, the elders would rent their summer places every year, and because it was locked in and the price was not kept up with the growing economy, Variander still have a picture of me standing on deck with him back then it was called a varanda I wish people wouldn't try **** der The hotel was a bar downstairs, hoping to save the hotel. I had some and I stayed there in 2010. We bought our brand new motorcycle. Two years after that, they closed. We loved it there. And it's so sad that something so beautiful and so historic. has gone to pots just because the town said they had to update, because it wasn't gonna stand. But look at her. She's still standing.
I always found Highlands County interesting because it's one of the only metro area's in Florida not covered by an interstate/expressway crossing through it, but unlike the panhandle coast there's no Beaches either. With a county of just barely 100,000 people, Avon Park and Lake Placid are just small towns while Sebring is a bit spread out, and then the rest is just unfinished lots where housing is supposed to go. Sebring is cool to visit but the area itself doesn't have much. There's very little to do and it's too far away from anything major in Florida for me to wanna move out there.
35:24 I kept waiting for the narrative. I love your videos. This drive-through of Sebring is nice, but in your other videos, you guys give great descriptions of the areas that you're making videos in.
