The Sechelt Rapids are sometimes mistakenly called the Skookumchuck Rapids. These rapids near Egmont, British Columbia are the result of tidal flow in and out of the Skookumchuck Narrows. Tugboats have been overturned in these waters which produce giant eddies and wave high enough for people to surf kayaks on. I spent a whole say out there in August 2012 with my wife Waltraut and dog Pinot to watch the tidal ebb and flow right at the Narrows. They are both gone now so this is a memorial to them.
