JJ McCarthy is not better now. Drake Maye threw 38 TDs and 7 INTs as a redshirt freshman. I mean, what is Tom relying on for his assessment? Hearsay it seems. Curran is a nice guy who sucks at evaluating players.

McCarthy isn't a first round talent he just got talked into being a safe high floor player, I'd be surprised if the Vikings can't make him look good for a while, Maye is far far more talented and people talking about him having a low floor either are just saying that because no one is perfect or lost in the sauce of it all he's a lot closer to Herbert as a rookie than Allen as a rookie

This is the first time in YEARS I felt really good about the Patriots draft. Other years I tried to be optimistic but my gut feeling at the time wasn't good. The teams greatest need was a change at GM!! A new leader in charge of personnel (including coaching hires).

Love your enthusiasm, Tyler and Brian. However, I would start Brissett, and then once Drake Maye shows he ready, then you put him in and keep him there. I'm not starting Maye because he excels against other teams' 2nd and 3rd stringers. Hopefully, Maye is good to go by week 7, maybe? This team lost a lot of games because poor qb play. With Brissett, you should get competent QB play. It's hard to be aggressive with only seven draft picks. You don't want a four win team trading future pucks either.

Minnesota wanted New England pick since February. The Vikings was trying to send the Patriots 3 1st round picks and New England didn't want it, so they settled for JJ. Everyone had Minnesota traded up with New England in their mocks draft, and now Drake isn't good... yeah ok

Enough talk about Maye! The stardard is Mac Jones: as the 3rd pick in the draft, there is an expectation that Maye shows himself as ready to start game 1 as Mac did as the 15th pick in the draft his rookie year!! This idea of coddling Maye is a joke! Mayo and Wolf covered their asses by picking up Milton who played better competition in college and is athletic like Maye. Now that the draft is over, Mayo is pivoting to getting this team ready for next season and he wants to win with whatever QB makes the offense go! Mayo is smart; he saw Belichick get canned for not winning & he knows Pete Carroll got canned for not winning enough and Mayo knows he will get canned if he does not not win so Maye better get that play book now and sleep at Foxboro if plans on being the guy to QB this team this season and beyond .

Draft being done and Tom not being able to proselytize about moving down is one of my favorite parts of the draft being over. I like Tom and don’t always agree on his takes, but this one just got annoying. We can revisit this in couple years, time to move on folks.

Your telltale sign is that Commanders & Bears (who had UNC QB's before) both skipped. But it's OK, you have Joe Milton and he'll end up being a top 3 QB od this draft. Just build a team around him.

Guess we have to see if Drake can win role as starter. If he can't Brissette is 18-30 as a starter and the line is still questionable. Basically they still suck if Maye can't step in.

Why does Tom say Polk and Baker are safe picks? No draft pick is without risk. Polk and Baker have a lower ceiling in my estimation than AD Mitchell based on lack of speed, explosiveness and height.

I think both Maye and McCarthy are gambles. If we're just comparing the two I'd take Maye over McCarthy but if you add in one or two more 1st round picks it's hard for me to argue against. There were apparently two offers. I believe the Giants were offering #6 this year and another pick next year. If that were their #1 that would likely be a top 10 so Pats would likely have gotten their next choice at QB (McCarthy or Penix) and a top pick next year. I'm not sure Maye is a better bet than that. On the other hand the Vikings were offering #11, 23 and their first rounder in 2025 (plus a number of pick swaps). In this case the Pats likely end up with McCarthy at 11, Jordan Morgan (or maybe Brian Thomas) plus whatever is available next year. This is clearly better IMO (as much as a hate to agree with TC since he literally spent a whole month saying to trade down). Currans mentions LeGette and Coleman as options but they are poor options (for 23). LeGette has one good year and it was in year 5. He also only excelled again zone. That's not an X. Coleman has the same problem.

Please give the JJ McCarthy argument a rest. You should learn from your buddy P. Perry. He has been in Maye's corner since the beginning. Not just him, but the Giants, Vikings, and Patriots as well. He is a much better prospect. If not, these teams wouldn't have offered all of them picks.

I don't agree with trading back, Maye was the guy. I do agree that Tyquan Thornton could be salvaged this year.

McCarthy wouldn't even have been available at 11. Curran acts like the Jets would have made the swap with the Pats. Denver or LV would have ended up with McCarthy. The Pats would have ended up with Nix or nothing.

AD Mitchell sucks he’s a bum that doesn’t block or run his routes with any conviction unless he is getting the ball He will give you a 140yds and a TD one week and then 3 weeks of 2 catches for 30 yds. Jaylynn Polk is being undervalued. He has some of the best hands in the draft and is good after the catch as well. According to his Head coach Polk was the leader of that wide receiver group the guy that everyone else looked to for motivation, not Rome Odunze I really like the player. Everyone saying they should have taken Mitchell or Ladd McConkey would have found something about them to bitch about anyways. Maybe we could wait until they actually get on the field for a week to declare him a bust
