FYI: An infrared thermometer is really useful to check battery, motor and brake heat after a ride and fits in the toolbox nicely. Great vid series! I got tired trying to convince people about the benefits of electric but your video's are doing it for me!
You need a horn since it's so quiet! 😂😂. Let people know you're coming thru, fast but stealthy. Awesome to see your videos on it. I'm enjoying seeing it in action.
I really like the bike and performance. For me, I would likely wear out before the battery. But, before going completely electric for mx (pro and amateur), the manufacturer's need to develop longer battery life or just make it easy (and reasonably affordable) to swap batteries. I might be wrong, but I think the other major manufacturer's have tentatively agreed on a common battery configuration. Make changing the battery a 2 minute job. For the skeptics, I get it. I love the feeling, smells, sounds and memories of 2 strokes and 4 strokes and I'm pro fossil fuels. It is the low maintenance, infinitely adjustable power and unrivaled performance of an electric mx bikes that just makes sense. Peace and go riding!
Dude you were flying and had great control on that bike. Can't believe the battery didn't get hot after all that riding. The average out of shape weekend warrior like me will EASILY be able to get a full ride moto out of this thing. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see what it will do when they send you that bug fix for the 89% battery issue. 😎
This is the best SV I have seen. I felt I was riding the bike and could get a good sensation of how the bike rides and reacts. The bike just kept on giving good power throughout. This is riding on new and different level.
Can you please do a TRAIL RIDE range test. I would love to know how it will handle a hare scramble on the east coast before I buy one. minutes, miles, elevation gain. thanks!
Congrats and thanks Bryan, been following you on the E Motos for a while! You are deserving for being the first US customer. Is there any type of subframe in the back under the seat? I have dreams of a Stark enduro. Drop the power off road and increase on the pavement. There is a battery manufacturer making pouch cells for airplanes up to about double the kWh/kg of what the Varg is running, ~500 Wh/kg. 5 more years of battery development and look out, E-Motos will be everywhere.
It looks good enough to switch to that bike. The way it rips out the corners and handles so well. I can’t imagine motives like to ride one. I think that would be a very fun experience.
MAn I' would like to see you do some single track and do a mileage run on that. I just rough calc I read that track is about 1 mile and about 2min/lap. That said 30 minutes should be around 15 miles or close to. That is at higher throttle, for me, at 65years old, I think I could make my 25 miles if I starrted with 100% and just used the 40hp setting. I have a 300XC-W and almost never open it up and seldom get above 3rd gear in the woods. At 25 miles I'm give out. Sure would be nice, no more kick starting, no more stalling on the side of a hill, no more pistons, no more cranks, no more premix, etc. Bring it home, spray it off, plug it in and done.
thats 737 ftlbs...Good Lord! how do you even hold onto to that at full power mode? mind also blown! what do most 450's do? about 50ft lbs more or less and maybe 55-60hp?
But power NOT 80HP/hrs it's + - 10.2HP/hrs you have; 8000watts/hrs power motor 72volts alim. motor. and at full throtle the charge of it's 112amps/hrs, and at full throtle impossible to go up a1hrs of autonomy. it's Mathematics. it's Nice, precise and easy. Ohm's law
Can we see a full beans hp ride? Interested to see what's that like cause it looked fast when you went over and tried it. Curious on why you didn't go to right side and double on than uphill jump you wasn't tripling as it seemed quite a bit faster if you didn't triple.
Thank you for making this video! 😮Question: what do you think will be your next tire setup? Considering that you own an Alta as well I'm curious what you think of as good tire choice for these high torque bikes.
There is no doubt that the Stark Varg is heading in the right direction. I would personally like to see future models with some nice graphics 5kg less weight , and a metallic silver frame .
Liked the comparision between the YZF450 power, I've heard that most riders never use the full power so running it at a usable power rating which may be more like 50% and see what the impact of the range may be. You may also need other riders in your test to complete an endurance run. I'm following!
Will you be at Pala this weekend for the National? You will get swamped with people checking it out, good place to get new subs! Stark shoild set up a booth even though they probably already have too many orders.
Found it on your q&a. The Elcon 6.6 charger- seems what would have been a logical step up from Alta? At this point after a 30” moto, a 2 hr charge to ride another 30”? Cut it to 1 hour full charge- that would be huge. Maybe you could throw that at Stark as you have their ear.
Hi Bryan congratulations on your stark .. mine will be delivered at the end of the year 🤞 could I trouble you for info on how your charging at the track .. so I can look into how I will do it here in the Uk?? Thanks for your time .. Stacey
I use a gas generator. This day i had the generator placed in front of my truck with an extension cord ran to the bike, so as to keep the noisy generator away from the pit area.
Question will be how longer the power will last with a pro rider on there in 60 or 80hp mode? How long are motos in SX and outdoor MX nationals? And you need at least an hour in between to charge.
You cannot draw 60,000 watts (80hp) from a battery the size of the whole motorcycle. Nobody is certifying these power ratings you need to look into this a little further. Unless they have somehow tripled battery energy density, this bike would struggle to be certified for 10 SAE HP.
@@Dat_Sun Shut up. I had my Alta on a dyno, and it showed 50hp as advertised. Search youtube for the video. Bryan can tell this is faster than the Alta. It may not be possible to use more than 60hp on most tracks though because the bike will be wheelie limited below 50mph.
@@SupercarEngg Friend, taking a hp dyno measurement without something to compare it to back to back is elementary ripping somebody off tactics. I have seen these electric bike dyno measurement videos. I noticed the superskinny tire, a dyno that has been calibrated to read extremely high (happy dyno) and a limited amount of white open throttle time. It's smoke and mirrors, the reality is this bike is an embarrassing flop. Everyone uploading videos of electric bikes is showing a handpicked harpacked situation, you never see these things racing against fast bikes or riders, only actors and editing makes these videos possible. I have been trying to get somebody to come up here to Grand County Colorado with an electric dirt bike to make one trip around the BLM land. I have offered several brand new dirt bikes, cash the guest cabin food generators everything needed.. All I want is the rights to make a RU-vid video with the results. Even if my advanced electronic powervalve 2-stroke top of the line ready to race dirt bike loses to a power wheel.
@@Dat_Sun Having of ridden an Alta MXR back to back with a few other bikes, I can say without a shadow of a doubt it is fast. I would say it feels similar to a 250 2 stroke that is always in the power band. It wasn’t as fast as my 450, but if the Varg is faster than his MXR I wouldn’t doubt it’s capable of producing 60+ hp at the wheels.
👍🏻 Is there no option in the dash to show motor, controller or battery temperatures? There must be an internal motor temp cutoff for safety just wonder if Stark are displaying the temps anywhere?
Hard not to want one …Curiosity has me….How long does the battery Hold up to say Trail riding with some hill climbs or other just fun stuff …last on a charge…. Keep up the content ..
Thanks for the video, Bryan! The bike is really really cool but as a Varg fan I'm disappointed. Even it you had it on 100% it's still a 1 moto bike and if one of the top 3 guys in AMA would ride it, it won't even last 30 minutes TBH. This fact really raises a big concern regarding this bike being competitive 😕 I hope they can do some magic in the SW to make it more efficient but right now (after they already enlarged the battery size) it's a disappointment in this area specifically.😥 I thought it would last for a 60 ride with your riding skills (which are really good! you're a fast rider).
Hard to say how much longer those 13% of the top battery will take you. If it's actually only 13% witch will give him only 5 more minutes, I'm also disipointed. Hes not that heavy rider and not on a full race phace.. I really hope those extra 13% on the top is more power than that.
Agreed, just looking at the numbers & assuming it’s at a steady rate of power drain he was able to ride 26 min before hitting the 20% indicator & noticeable power drop. He started riding at about the 3 min mark & hit the 20% around the 29min mark. So 87% to 20% in 26 min or 2.5769% battery per min of riding at his weight, skill level on that track. So that additional 13% would give him roughly another 5 min of ride time. So 31 minutes total at his level of variables. Probably plenty for most riders but definitely not enough for a pro at a 30min +2 lap national. Why is the battery only able to charge to 87% is another question & when will Stark fix that, update the SW?
@@randyarnson9396 Bryan has now said that Stark have issued an update to fix the bug. Also, having the battery charge to a full 100% should make a big difference, as battery life does not taper off linearly.
@@Bozza36 yeah, I saw his post showing he was now able to charge to 100%. Hopefully he’ll do another 30 min + moto to see how it does. He was going to try the amateur national race at Fox Raceway today but wasn’t feeling well (respiratory cold) so he went to Perris Raceway instead. Said he might try some enduro, single track type riding soon to see how it preforms there. I have one ordered & am still on the fence a little about getting it so I’m trying to gather as much info as I can in the next 2 months.

My 5 year old daughter snuck into my room while I was watching this video... I told her that I was watching a new electric dirt bike on an MX track and she immediately said, "dad, you have to get one of those!" LOL, I'm like I wish 😄 PS: At some point, it seemed like you were looking down a lot... was that your camera moving? Maybe you were paying attention to your app? I can't wait to see 3rd person footage of you in an actual race. Thanks for the video.
You're worried about noise, pollution, and danger.... I already know you voted biden 😂. Grow a set and stop living in fear. Your electric is way more polluting than fuel. Everything is dangerous, drinking too much water can be a danger, and as far as noise... snow flake ❄️
Jumps straight, feels nimble with the instant torque. You have a lot of pitch control with electric. In a sense its safer, cuz if you start endoing you can correct it by simply wacking the throttle since you're not limited to a rev limiter in 2nd/3rd/4th/5th gear like you are on a gas bike. Hold it pinned in the air and the back tire whicks up to max speed quickly.
So when are we gonna see a video of the ones going to the magazines to test? (Not the promo stunt they did in Barcelona with magazines where I'm they were told to be partial)
I think I heard you discussing a faster charger? I think 30 minutes is great riding time, 90 minutes charging is not. I normally ride a 30- rest 30 - ride 30- rest 30- ride a 3rd 30. I hope Stark is working on this. I still want my bike- but it gives me pause- this is something they need to do better. It is charging the same speed as an old Alta.
It's a really cool idea but it also needs a hot swappable battery that can be changed in 30 seconds so you could keep two or three of them charged and ready to go and even have some charging so you never have to stop
Or even five minutes to swap. The way the battery is in currently, it seems like four bolts and an electrical connector would be fairly simple for a battery swap. If they ever try to race outdoors, it sounds like they wouldn’t be able to make both moto’s even with recharging in between.
@@Runk3lsmcdougal are they? I would have to imagine they are a bit less. $12k for the whole bike and production + profit with a $7k battery seems out of line. $5k I could see though unfortunately.
They seriously need to mount a large speaker on the front, both for safety so riders hear you coming and for the fun of hearing it with the "throttle". Then choose between 4 stroke, 2 stroke sound, V8 sound, F1 sound, Twin, etc
That pace was insane bro... I'll bet that beast has alot more instant torque than most any gas engine..They quote the hp but what does it have as far as ft lbs?
I get like 30 minutes out of my 2016 KTM Freeride E on the cross track. Never even gets really warm. With a second battery or the big newer one you can go an hour and no heat at all. Why is there 2023 not much improvement? Of course the Stark has twice the power of the KTM but I thought the riding time would be longer tbh
5.25.23 Great video demonstrating the bike. Question: What would you estimate that the engine braking puts back into the battery? At the Pro level moto cross 30 minutes plus 2 laps, I do not think this bike will last the whole race without loss of power the last few minutes. A local race, say 20 minutes I think would be fine. Are you going to attempt Pala amateur day 5.27.23? Where's your pit crew at?
Bryan Did Stark cone back to you as to why it is not charging past 87% or is it like all EV where the last 10-15% takes a few hours to top out. does it need to be left on charger for 5 hours or more to reach 100%
Have many questions, will take time to answer themselves like how long will the battery last over time, a guy at work has a older electric car and it is down to 50 mile range, started at 280 when new and the price of new battery is more than what the car is worth. Whats the longevity of the motor? Carbon brushes inside the motor will wear out. Only time will give the answers
Can you tell us more about your suspension settings? Apparently the bike comes stock with the forks completely down, probably because the bikes turns well and they are more looking for stability. But what’s your sag? Clickers etc and how does the bike feel compare to the Alta or gas bike for you? Also some people were saying that the Alta wasn’t good on sand track. What’s your take on it?
My bike came with the forks about 5mm up in the clamps, sprung for my weight (of course), clickers set at 12 out, and sag was at 98mm. I put the forks flush in the clamps right away but decided to go back to 5mm since it felt like the front end was riding a bit high. Suspension feels great, just a few minor clicker adjustments but its still breaking in. I have some plans with a company that i'll announce here soon. Hard to compare to my Alta right now becuase it has air fork and custom valving. But so far, i'm really happy with the stock Varg suspension.
Now after the 30 min moto- did you ride it again? How much battery % did you gain with a break while it was charging with a traditional generator ? Love the content
Stark by far. No vibrations, no clutch, no shifting, super smooth power... are all things a gas bike does opposite which wears you out. This bike doesnt wear you out, besides having massive power (if youre using a high power map).
You can order it with Enduro tires, but they have stated this is built for tracks. Im sure it will work on single track you’d just have to do some suspension work.
@@lafdew It ain't tires I worry about, those can be changed. It is how it works as a stealth, silent enduro machine over rocks, logs and up steep climbs.
@@woodysrockspyro6436 clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. 1000 charges will last you for years nobody rides that much. I put two thousand miles on my Alta mxr in three years I ride it two to three times a week and I probably haven't charged it more than 100 times. It's a lot of riding it
