I can personally attest to how badass this song is, especially live. I saw these ladies waaay back in 1977, Barracuda got the crowd singing along instantly.

Yes, Ann & Nancy were (are) huge fans of Led Zeppelin, and if you haven't reacted to their Stairway to Heaven performance via Kennedy Center Honors of Led Zeppelin it is an absolute MUST. Make sure you listen to the Full Version (7:59) as there is a chopped version out there that deletes the entire second verse and then some, cutting out a full minute of this masterpiece.

Both songs are absolutely great kick ass rock tunes and run neck and neck but Barracuda's riff is so iconic & soul stirring it clearly wins overall. Benetar is an incredible vocalist but so is Ann Wilson. Great reaction video guys!

We had the good fortune to see both Pat and Heart in small venues a few years back. Pat puts on a great show and she could still get high notes and her husband is a very underrated guitar player. However Heart rocked much harder and Ann has a more powerful voice. Really filled up the room more than Pat. I love them both.

Good ear on T for hearing the Zeppelin. Zeppelin were a huge influence on Heart. If you haven't, check out their cover of Stairway to Heaven at Kennedy Center Honors. They also do a great cover of Battle of Evermore, and others but I think that one was under their other band "The Lovemongers".

As you probably know, Heart was heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin. Barracuda sounds like a little bit Achilles, and a little bit Immigrant Song. The drum and riff have got that galloping effect.

Dooood! I never caught that connection to the Zeppelin track! But I hear it now!! I think on some subconscious level I recognized the similarities, but never made the connection - I knew each song "reminded me of another", but it just did not click for me! Nice catch! I'm gonna listen more closely to both and see where the similarities begin and end!

They were great all in the 70s. The band went through a change of performers and went to softer rock in the 80s, which was good but liked them better in the 70s. The good part was Nancy got to sing more with her sister Ann Next for them is Magic Man 🔥

Look anyone reacting to Heart can do the popular rocking stuff like "Barracuda" & "Magic Man" & so forth. But what about the hidden gems that didn't get the hard rockin' rock station air play? Like this gem, "Dog & Butterfly". For me it's the most beautiful song ever written. It brings a tear to my eye every time i listen to it. It's about going after your dreams. The studio version has a little drum with it, but whenever performed live it was just Ann & Nancy Wilson. Both on acoustic & both singing. Good catch in the song similarities. Heart covered Led Zeppelin too and we're probably not shy about copying them where it helped a song. Yeah no world exists where this song loses to anything by Pat Benetar. I actually like her too. It's just a different tier of R&R.

This riff was actually according to them inspired by a Nazareth song. The lyrics to this was inspired by a record producer who insinuated that even though they were sisters they were also lovers.

While Neil Giraldo, (Pat Benatar's husband and co-writer), is a great guitarist and hook-writer, the two solos in Barracuda are just so original in their approach, and they way it works with the drums and the rest of the song is just genius. Sure glad I don't have to choose between them in real life.

You are right in with the Achilles Last Stand and Barracuda. The underlying rhythm for Achilles is the lead riff for Barracuda
