Second year of learning piano

This is what I did in my second year since I started to learn piano.
I didn’t measure precisely, but approximately I practiced for 20 minutes per day in average that year. This includes breaks I took for travel and other things, which add up to about 2 months combined.
The progress may seem much less impressive than already not too impressive first year :)
But I believe that I learned to understand music slightly better than I used to. First year was mostly motor memory training, and now I see basic music building blocks at least.
I improved my sightreading a lot. I worked on technique, however it’s hardly visible on pieces I play. :) At least I can say that my basic technique got much better.
Anyway, I’m not giving up and keeping my steady progress.

I just think that you're awesome--you've spent a lot of time documenting this process and it's so beneficial for so many. Thanks for putting this all together.

Good stuff dude! Good to go back to simple stuff + reading rather than ONLY memorization. It will help you learn pieces faster! Then use a mix of both memory + reading skills.

Keep going! I started playing about 8 months ago and I learned to how to play für elise and I'm practicing Chopin - nocturne op. 9 no. 2

That's nice, it's great to meet piano enthusiasts here! I too learned Für Elise in my first year, at least part of it.

Great stuff! Hope you see this. But i am also new, and I was wondering where are you getting the music from to play in the beginning? are they all from a book or did you find easy versions online? Also which Ballad are you playing at the end and how did you learn to play it so smoothly and know you needed to do arm crossovers?

The first piece is from "It's Never Too Late to Play Piano" book by Pamela Wedgwood. Ballad in the end is basically a chord progression, I think I saw something similar on RU-vid. Smoothness comes with practice :) Good luck in your learning!

Ahhh, you would have made even more phenomenal progress if you started with simple sight reading, scales and arpeggios. No practice time is wasted time but since you seem committed keep in mind to always strive for more efficient practice. Your teacher is your initial guide in this. When you start hitting those Rachmaninoff and Liszt etudes, you will see the huge value of scales practice. Then you will enjoy practicing them.

Very good point! Actually, now I'm practicing scales and arpeggios every day and I'm spending much more time on sitereading than I did before.

So, what are you selling? Because this was an ad @facebook. You need a teacher because you are very stiff. Almost like a statue. You really need a teacher because you will get stuck and you will get hurt with do much tension in your body
