I have sleep apnea since 1995 had the operation and now on Cpap I have been to sleep studies rated 50% and paralyzed vocal cord rated 10% as time moves on I have high pressure ,ED sinusitis , rhinitis in which I think is secondary to sleep apnea the Va even sent me a letter about sinusitis I could get additional benefits submitted claims and got disapproval if you can help me to increase my disability please let me know
I have tinnitus headaches and depression. Filed OSA secondary to these conditions. Got denied 3 times by the VA. I have a cpap tru a private doctor. Did sleep studies. Provided 2 nexus letters. I am now using the HLR route.
I was diagnosed with Depression, sinusitis, pharyngitis, dyspnea, nausea and vomiting, Gerd, headaches, gastroenteritis, and had abdomen issues. Also when I was in the army I recieved a company grade Article 15 for oversleeping and missing formation on multiple occasions. They took my rank from me. I just recently was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I put in a claim for Gerd back in 2008 but was denied. I think it's time I submit a new one with all of this together.
Oh like me, they diagnosed me with sleep apnea and give me a CPAP. They denied my claim even though they give me a rating for Asthma. I have to put in as secondary. They could have just connected it,they want you do all the paperwork.
This is Facts! I wish I never would have sold my body to the Military if I knew that this was going to mess me up in the long run! They rated me for Chronic Sinusitis and I was diagnosed with Obstruction Sleep apnea and was given a CPAP machine by the VA I had a Nexus letter and 4 buddy letters stating that I was snoring all the while in The Military plus my spouse also supplied a letter and was still denied I requested a HLA and if they deny me again I will file a congressional complaint against the VA they are full if shit period
My Sleep Apnea (connected) was reduced (50 to 30 ) because I received an INSPIRE implant to replace using a CPAP. The Inspire is an implant that is used when CPAP isnt working or intolerable (to replace CPAP). A person has to "qualify" for the implant. So surgery is required for the Implant with 3 incisions to include one on the front of the throat. The implant will send a "shock" to the base of the tongue to open the airway to help me breathe at night. So I have an appeal in since 2020 because I feel I shouldnt be reduced, I still require a device to aid my breathing while sleeping.
Throughout the video you had referenced that there are proposed changes the how the VA might change the rating for sleep apnea. When would the VA vote for this ? And how would one go about looking into it ?
Is there a connection to tinnitus and sleep Apnea? I have 10% for tinnitus and the VA just informed me I have severe sleep Apnea. I am a Desert Storm Veteran
Question... I have restricted sleep apnea, use a sleep CPAP machine and was denied. Can I resubmit as a secondary for my PTSD? My initial claim for the restricted sleep apnea was denied cause they have no study proving it was cause from the burn pits.
I was rated at 0% for hypothyroidism due to agent orange. I originally filed a claim for it. I have sleep apnea and have been rated at 50%. Can I reclaim hyperthyroidism as a secondary to sleep apnea?
My husband went to a C&P exam today for GERD secondary to Sleep Apnea. He is taking medication for GERD and it’s coded in his file as GERD but the examiner said she can’t list it as GERD because he never had the upper GI exam for it so she labeled it Dyspepsia. Will that rate the same? He is going to get the upper GI test on Thursday because the meds are not helping as they should. I don’t think I can add his new results after the claim file is officially started. Based on symptoms we were thinking he would get 30% but not sure now that she is labeling it Dyspepsia.
I have Asthma that is service connected did a sleep study when i got out, I got issued a CPAP, I try filing a claim for Sleep Apnea has a secondary and I got denied
I literally have all that documented on my jacket but nothing is “connected” whatever that means. My claims guy said don’t mess with my rating since I’m already 100 but I’m not feeling so hot at 39.
I'll be meeting with my sleep doctor this week to discuss a nexus connection for my sleep apnea secondary to one of my service connected ratings. Problem is I don't know which one would be best or most likely to work. I have ratings for cardiovascular disease/bypass, AFIB, GERD with hiatal hernia, thypothyrodism, hypertension and tinnitus. Any thoughts?
I conducted two sleep studies while I was on Active Duty and was Diagnosed with OSA ( Obstructive Sleep Apnea) also while serving on Active Duty. I was even issued a CPAP Machine while I was on Active Duty serving my country. However, when I filed my claim with the VA, they Denied it. How is this even possible ?
@@MICHAEL...74D50 do you know what question the VA asked the medical examiner? Based on the questions the VA asks we have to give a yes or no answer. Was sleep apnea related to toxic exposure (TERA) or another condition caused it?
@@Bluebirdray I wish back in 2009 the usaf medical retirement board had the same logic. Seems cut and dry, extended time of deprived oxygen causes damage to the brain. I guess it falls into the disabled veterans needlessly having to get our claims reviewed at a higher level. It's just a shame to fight over something earned NOT given. Thank you for your comment my question.
I am a 100 percent TDIU rated veteran! I have been trying to get secondary rated for diabetes due to PTSD, Sleep Apnia, depression etc. Additionally, I wanted to file for Mefloquine Toxicity! I was in Afghanistan from July 2004 until August 2006. (25 consecutive months) any suggestions?
If you are 100% tdiu then I wouldn't do a damn thing. Every time you submit a new claim they will go back and review your current diagnosis and can possibly remove the 100% tdiu.
Can a heart condition cause sleep apnea. I have had bypass surgery and get 30%. I started have sleep problems after surgery. Wife said I snored and stop breathing. Had a sleep test to verfiy this.
I got 50 % for sleep apnea then I just got diagnosed too under Pact Act of allergy rhinitis 0% and asthma, and copd but they combined that to my sleep apnea can I apply for separate rating on that asthma nd copd..?
Will filing anxiety and migraines secondary to sleep apnea cause my sleep apnea to be reevaluated under the proposed changes or is that still grandfathered
You went the wrong direction here. The common scenario is a veteran that never got a sleep study during service. What is sleep apnea secondary to, not what conditions are secondary to sleep apnea.
@@LawDogg01 Thanks LawDogg01,but I am just tired and weary of trying. This old soldier will just lay down in my foxhole, light up a cigarette and look at the sky. My mind is made up.
@@chicago44tj Never say die! It took me almost 4 years to get directly connected. Three C&P's 5 personal lay statements, 4 denials, and 1 HLR w/attorney got me over the finish line. I did direct, secondary, and then got direct at HLR. Now I'm adding secondaries. Never give up. Evaluate your errors and move forward with a new plan.
SO I got 50% for Sleep Apnea and another 50% for asthma. Then the VA combined them because they don't want "pyramiding" to occur, so I now have 50% for both combined. Yay me!
If you take medications for PTSD that made you gain weight, or gained weight due to the effects of PTSD (overeating to find comfort) then you would have a better chance of winning that SA claim. If you are skinny and can't claim weight the chances to win that SA claim are very slim.
