Secondary right or scope for hunters is not that common yet. Tobias Åberg have hooked up with Håkan Spuhr at the shooting range to discuss why a secondary sight can be to consider also for hunters. Håkan Spuhr also show his rifles for hunting and competition. Håkan shows how he have mounted his secondary sights and explain why and how he use them.
We also get a short look at Tobias driven hunt rifle and how he have chosen to mount his Trijicon RMR rm06 as a secondary sight to his Trijicon Accupoint 1-6x24.
Our goal is to provide hunting films with high ethics, good action and some knowledge.

Spuhr makes some top quality stuff, for me the ideal setup is the spuhr hunting mount for tikka, inside the s&b pm2 3-20 ultra short and a aimpoint micro on top, just works for every situation encountered in the field!

Thank you for the new ideas. I got scope rings with a short picatinny rails at 3, 6 and 9 and I will put small red dot there. I got Docter 3-12x56 there without light.. Actually with this video you just save a lot of my money ;-) Tack så mycket

I have the new Steiner Ranger 4x16-56 with red dot which kinda does the same. But I think your idea is really brilliant for those hunters who don't have red dot sights.

Thank you for your in-put. Me personally need to use this more, but I think here is a great potential for hunters in some segment. I wish you a nice day! Tobias

Hmm, it seems that for most of the hunting situations one good scope is more than enough, especially, that we all want to be consistent also in shooting position for better results, without moving the head or rifle too much. But one thing which pops to my mind is active stalking with a combination gun, when you could try to take a quick shot at a flashing bird or a fox using reddot, and to bag a deer using proper scope at a longer distance later in the morning… Cool! Let me have one like that ;)

Hi! Is your Rifle a Steel Action? I like the idea of a secondary scope But i don’t like the Turn you have to do when mounting it at 3 o’clock. Try out the Schmidt & Bender exos 1-8x24. It has a Special Option with no magification and a red dot so it is like an aimpoint But with the atvantage that if you Need you can go up to 8x to take a Save Shot on a Piece of game that is at 100m.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is a Steel Action HM in caliber 9,3x62. ;-) Secondary scope is pretty new for me, I'm still struggles a bit to learn to turn the rifle to get into the 3 o'clock RMR. However I feel that it starts to be more natural and I think by time it will be very easy. I all-ready has a 1-6x24. The reson for the secondary is not that I can't shot with the 1 st scope at 1 x magnification. The challenge is those times I'm at a stand and have the scope at 6 x mag. and a of a sudden a animal appears at 5-10 meters and I do not have time to zoom out or I do not want to move my hands because it will reveal my position for the animal. In those cases, I can use the secondary scope instead. ;-) Regards, Tobias

Red Moose Hunting Thank You Tobias! I am thinking of getting a Steel Action Myself. Are You happy with it? I was thinking in 8x57is cause i already have .270 Win, 30-06 Spr. And 375H&H. But i want a Slow flying caliber that u can shoot also in thicker brushes.

@@carlos17098 I have not had the 8x57 me myself, but I really want to try it out, I think it is a splendid cartridge for driven hunt. I'm like my Steel Actions a lot. Can truly recommend them! Regards, Tobias

Thanks for your in-put. Now I've tried this on 2 different rifles for some weeks and for me I can agree with Håkan Spuhr in this video. So far I lake 3 o'clock the best on my driven hunt rifle and 12 o'clock at my rifle for stalking. However, I think that each individual hunter needs to try out what is best for them, it is almost impossible to say what is best for all. This will depend on what hunting they are doing and their equipment. For example on my Trijicon TARS it is almost impossible to mount a secondary sight in any other position than 45 degree, this because the turrets are too high and cover the RMR totally.... however I do not like the 45 degree position, but there is no other alternativ as I see it.... :-( Regards, Tobias

@@RedMooseHunting thanks. there's not so much video from you last time, what's the reason?🤔
@RedMooseHunting
@RedMooseHunting 5 лет назад
@@yuriys.6352 Main reson is time. :-( I've focused at making more driven hunt films, but we have been less lucky getting good film during our hunts, so I've put in more time hunting and then I do not have so much time over for editing. ...but stay in touch, there will be more films... ;-) //Tobias
