What's the difference between J (join) command and overkill?
@roginoapacible1
@roginoapacible1 5 лет назад
@@czarinaiguico6551 it is a faster way of cleaning up duplicate and overlapping lines.. most of the time if working fast you dont care if lines are overlapping or duplicating and in the end of the day you gonna go back and clean it up.. but with overkill i just go select and area i want to clean up and overkill bam bam..

Great balance of humor and education. Thank you! I use the -PAN command in a viewport all the time. In MODEL space I will have objects a set distance apart (foundation, floor plan, roof, etc) and then in PAPERSPACE in a viewport, I can use -PAN to move the model the same set distance so that all the objects appear in the same location from sheet to sheet and the scale remains the same. (Lock those viewports, people)

for the copy commands. add the control+shift+C 0,0,0. / control+V 0,0,0. this is very useful for transferring your layouts into another model space without altering your origin and position.

Thank you! I’ve used autocad for 20 years and am ashamed to admit that I never knew I could extend while in the trim command by double space bar, nor did I know about tips 6 and 7! Thanks for not taking for granted that “everyone” knows this. I sure didn’t and have spent many years in offices full of engineers with all of us sharing tips with each other and no one ever mentioned “oops” nor “overkill”. Oh the hours I could’ve saved! Especially the overkill command!!! Thank you and looking forward to more! God bless!

need to be careful with overkill though, it can sometimes give you anomalies when polyline arcs are present , say circles made of 2 polyline arcs (i know, retarded but i genuinely received drawings like this multiple times) will actually become semicircles, some poly-arcs will change shape etc ...extremely useful but need to remain vigilant.

Tbh I'm not an architecture student or anything who's related to that field. But of all the Filipino RU-vidrs, your contents are the only videos that I actually finish 'till the end (literally) hahaha. It's very informative and super straight forward. You do not exaggerate on screen. Your voice is moderated and not pesky which makes everything feel comfortable and chill. I also like how every content that you produce has substance. You always make sure to introduce topics that people would be genuinely curious about and where people could actually learn and apply it to their lives. hahahaha Ahh. I'd also like to acknowledge the smooth editing in this video 😂. wala lang share ko lang, more power to you!!

Select multiple line and press J + enter to convert the whole in polyline To join line perpendicular to each other use fillet command or press F + enter and than R + enter then set radius to 0... Boom! The lines will be joined at right angle without the need of any stretch or trim needed

All good tips/tricks. Try align for scaling objects; ma match property; array command for repeated objects like stairs, hand rails or joists; divide; offset for wall thickness; right click "select similar"; poly edit multiple - select group of lines and convert to poly line then join them all; wipeout to make an invisible box to hide cut objects; and layer manager so you can stack your drawings and quickly change views to the layers you want on or off; the ultimate "laydel" will allow you to delete those impossible to get rid of layers be careful all objects on deleted layers will be erased; layoff to repeat selecting objects to turn off their layer; for polyline hover over node to add vertacy or remove vertacy, or convert line to arch. Play with those for a while. Then start to learn dynamic blocks. Please don't ever use line command, use poly line. Selecting will much easier

Xline (xl space) command is super helpful to me. Also " 'cal" expression "mee" (middle of endpoint to endpoint) to find centers of geometrical shapes. Put a "-" in front of many commands and you get rid of dialogs for that command use. Example -array. Txtexp for text explode into lines (helpful in CNC drawing cases sometimes).

No kidding, overkill and oops have saved my life on so many occasions. I'm glad you're actually showing these tips because you have no idea how much I had to peruse the internet two years back to find out that overkill even existed, because my project files started getting so heavy due to the unnecessary overlapping lines from all the exploded blocks I'd used. And pffft honestly autocad hacks actually can make you low-key popular in archi school no kidding people actually ask me stuff because I've helped rescue urban design projects for them

@@landewell6862 the purge command is really helpful to get rid of layers that youre not using. regen command to regenerate curved surfaces that have somehow turned choppy and segmented. spline to make random irregular curves and organic shapes that polyline wouldnt let you make easily (helped a ton on my interior design project). knowing about lisp and how to install basic ones is super useful. ole image insertions are really useful if you're working on group projects or keep shifting your files around.

You can extend to a line that isn't there by changing trimmode and edgemode to 1. Also when copying you can press ctrl+shift+v and it will paste as a block. When it comes to the selection boxes, if you press shift you can deselect whatever you want. Save all and close all is dangerous if you are not paying attention. The command "oops" only brings back the last thing you deleted. It will not do more than that. Two other commands that people should know are "pspace" and "mspace" these commands are very useful when working with layouts with precise scales. Another command that is very useful for making layouts is "vpsync" and "chspace". Another great tip is right mouse button press and hold. If you want to deselect everything without hitting escape you can just hold right mouse button and they will deselect. In addition, if you have something selected you can can hold the right mouse button and drag somewhere for a quick copy, move, rotate.

the OOPS command is an ancient piece of archaeology from the 90s civilization of autocad users. basically it was there before the Undo Ctrl+Z command
