Have you ever been in a public place where you felt like people were making fun of you, but you couldn’t prove it? While you were likely just projecting, there are plenty of industries where some people have secret code words to warn co-workers that a particularly difficult customer is on the way. In addition, plenty of occupations have euphemisms for fires and other events that they know would scare other people if they heard about them. Want to know what those folks are really talking about? Treasured guest...I love it 😁 A former neighbour of mine worked in gynecology told me they'd deliberately schedule "difficult" women in for the following Tuesdays...so they could say "C U Next Tuesday!" as she was leaving 😅

I've worked in two retail chain stores and although there were Code Adams in both stores when I worked there, the management didn't do a great job at training me what to do if and when that happened. Luckily the children just ran off and were quickly found. It's a very important thing to do and some managers could really do a better job.

there’s sometimes shops that use the code word “21 on 9” which in the states means that someone is under fthe legal age of drinking or buying alcohol (21) so they need someone the age of 21 or over at checkout 9. so either get your parents to buy the alcohol or have some stranger that you haven’t even met buy it for you or you don’t get the alcohol.

If you’re on a cruise, and you hear the captain say “bravo bravo bravo” over the PA system, there’s a fire onboard the ship.

I used to work on a cruise ship. If an elderly passenger dies on board, you would hear "Starlight, starlight" on the P.A. speaker. The weird thing? Because of this, I believe that ships are required to have a small mortuary because of this.

Disney Code 101 isn't a broken ride. It means there is lightning near by. 102 means conditions are normal. Please don't pass false information. Do your research. Also, we say customer when a guest is rude. Do research.

My favorite tech support "code" i learned many years ago working in a call center for Adobe software. It was P.I.C.N.I.C. It stood for Problem In Chair, Not In Computer.

Here’s a hint most of you never knew..... When your in a department store and hear dings over head, it’s a code for security and management. The number of dings lets the people that need to be aware of something to call in. I was loss prevention, the dings said where I was needed and why. Cool huh. Truth. 🤓

A former employer used code yellow instead of code Adam, and my current employer uses code blue for possible thief, purple for "treasured guest," and gray for befuddled elderly person.

I like one I saw somewhere when I was young: London tailors had the acronym "SLBCH" for certain male customers. It means a certain lack of style and suavity: "Stands Like a Bloomin' Cab Horse." Probably hard to give him a good fit!

Code Blue is very well known now but I used to work security in a hospital in Philadelphia that when they needed us to report to a specific area put a call out on the P.A. system for "Mr. Hercules".

Theatres and Circuses had the band play "Stars and Stripes Forever" as a code known as "The Disaster March" as a warning that a potentially dangerous life-threatening situation had arisen to have the venue employees prepare to evaculate the audience in an orderly fashion. Circus bands are not to play the tune under any other circumstances. Happened in The 1944 Hartford Circus Fire but 167 people still died and over 700 people were injured mostly from the crush from the stampede to the exits and burns when the fire roared out of control.

Used till work at an water park, there was a few code Words used such as technical diffulculties. Aka a kid had taken a dump in the pool. Or i havet to Attend a meeting aka going to the restroom.

Oscar...is the word representing the letter "O" in the military (and others?) phonetic alphabet. O is for overboard. In the old days ships would make a dummy with a lifejacket and throw it overboard for man overboard drills. The dummy's name was, of course, Oscar.

3:00 Is that just an American thing? In Canada, "Code Blue" generally means that a Doctor is needed immediately. It's not only for heart attacks, it could be for a pregnant mother who's "crowning" and is about to give birth

An important thing to note about the retail store missing child scenario: Don’t announce to the world what’s going on, and absolutely don’t announce details about the kid publicly. Irrelevant shoppers should have no idea a situation even transpired.
