Gabriel.b they didn't. If they did lost we wouldn't have donkey Kong or any Nintendo game since Universal was suing that Donkey Kong infringe King Kong's copyright. Universal lost since King Kong was in the public domain
I mean, it's not just another recreation of an entire scene from another movie or show with Family Guy characters, so that's a step in the right direction.
@@TheeKorovaMilkBarTrue, there is that as well. But another recurring cutaway/television gag I seem to notice in this show is with fictional characters being put in more deadpan, real world scenarios like this one. However, the fact they made a strong attempt to imitate the visuals and sound effects of the source material makes it feel a bit more genuine
@@najeewilson1108 1970s videogame noises consisting mostly of electronic beeps. It's kind of referencing how in real life the technology to put voice acting or actual recorded sounds from the real world would not be invented until like at least another decade or so.
In one of the Mario comics from the 90's, Mario and Luigi talk about Pauline and heavily imply that she was a huge bitch and that's why Mario broke up with her. 🤣
@@noobgod6 June 6th, 1984 is when Tetris was made, in gaming years that shit is prehistoric. Pong was 1972. So Tetris isn't as old but its still fucking ancient.
Clever detail: Ordinary People came out in 1980 and Stripes came out in 1981. Donkey Kong was released in Arcades in 1981, so those two movies would be pretty new and relevant at the time DK released, making them appropriate choices for Mario and DK to want to go see.
A similar spoof happened in a game called you only live once. It starts off as a Mario style platformer where the plot is a man trying to rescue his daughter and the game has two endings Ending 1 is if you die at any part from beginning to end and the bad guy gets arrested for kidnapping and murder. Ending 2 is if you actually beat the game and you get arrested for murdering the bad guy.
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9oc Keyword here is yet. The identity of Rosalina's parents is highly debated. Also, you kinda forgot to read the comment properly, "similar spoof" "Mario style platformer"
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9oc Meh, a good chunk of modern ones fall flat or just simply aren't funny. They point out the obvious without really telling much of a joke
@@msthecommentator2863 they are not modern, they still know how to keep their jokes funny. They didn't point out the obvious without really telling much of a joke, they need to make a joke without telling it or otherwise the joke won't make sense if they tell it.
Agreed. I didn't laugh at it but it's refreshing to see the cutaway gags done differently. Even if the joke wasn't funny it was more entertaining to watch visually
fun fact 2, Japanese wonk who developed the game made a mistake when translating the japanese for ``monkey kong``into english. By the time the error was discovered millions of labels had already been printed . The original name was monkey kong, but somebody misspelled it and the name stuck:)
Fun fact: in the actual DK game there was 3 endings 1. The normal one 2. Beating DK but Mario is crushed and killed by him 3. Pauline dies and Mario and DK basically fall in love
Like how the movies they say is history accurate. Donkey Kong came out on July 9, 1981 while movies like Ordinary People came out on September 19, 1980 and Stripes came out on June 26, 1981.
Mario's (or rather Jumpman's) question about Donkey Kong's relationship to King Kong may be a reference to the lawsuit brought against Nintendo by Universal Studios, alleging that Nintendo ripped off King Kong with their Donkey Kong. Interestingly enough, the original Donkey Kong game was apparently going to be a Popeye game; they couldn't get the rights, though, so they replaced Popeye with Jumpman/Mario, Olive Oyl with Pauline, and Brutus with Donkey Kong.
When Mario ask Donkey Kong if related to King Kong but DK said they’re completely different sounds a reference when Universal Studios sues Nintendo for copyrighting but Nintendo said Donkey Kong is way different from King Kong
