Gravik expected the submarine situation to fail because he wanted to weed out the spy which he said himself is more important than the submarine mission. He said so himself before killing Gi'ah.

Talos does have a friend, kinda... the woman who got kicked off the council. However, I do agree that Gravik and Giah have been very underwhelming, but I hope they get better in the final 3 episodes especially with the Super Skrulls and also the upcoming plane crash which would probably give them more to do.

I have no idea how the invasion remained secret when they leave Skrull bodies everywhere. Someone is bound to find one of these bodies! If at least the bodies didn't change back when they died, that would make more sense. I was able to see the turns on this episode coming from a mile away, but in general I like the show.

Why did the skrull pretending to be Bob care if Fury killed Bob's son?

You know, Fury using the Skrull is kinda a great way to do the Life Model Decoys from the comics without having the have a bunch of robots around

it is revealed in this episode that the skrulls were in talks with Dreykov, so it’s safe to say that skrulls were involved in the red room someway or another. it’s super interesting, but will most likely never be talked about again

I think the whole Neptune mission was an intentional ploy from Gravik to force the traitor to reveal themself. That’s why it was so “sloppy” and Gravik didn’t bother replacing the actual men turning the keys.

When Gravik’s hand started to heal with the Extremis that was one of the most surprising and favourite parts of the episode for me. I really expected us to see that transformation happen with that machine but the way it happened ‘behind the scenes’ without is knowing I actually love. Just shows that it’s not even just Skrulls hiding their identity that we don’t know about.

Emillia's character is not dead. There are many moments with her in the official trailers that we didn't see just yet in these 3 episodes

I think Natasha would have understood along with Wanda who could read their minds, Vision who doesn’t see species any differently being AI himself. Possibly even Black Panther and Thor.

I liked it. The sheer difficulty of spotting a Skrull in a crowd is being delivered excellently. You just have no idea who is who - even for another Skrull. Curious if you are right about Gaia. Sure this isn't another Hill shock moment. Once you have fridged one woman why not fridge any and all of them just to prove how edgy the writer is? (Personally do not approve of that) Dreykhov and his organisation was mentioned as being a target of Talos for Fury. To reach out to an Avenger (until Carol Danvers came back to Earth) 1. Thor - wouldn't see the different between a Skrull and a human especially as the Asgardians know about the Kree (mentioned by Sif to Colson in AoS) and presumably their nasty nature towards Skrulls. 2. Captain America - Steve is a sucker for an oppressed people. 3. Banner - Bruce has an open mind especially to green skinned people. 4. Black Widow - 50/50 her spy built in distrust I think would make her wary 5. Iron Man - Stark would be cautious but you talk tech to him and he's theirs 6. Hawkeye - probably the least open (unless Talos was beating up a SHIELD Security guard in the rain and mud - he seems to admire that).

As much as I love Captain America, winter soldier, I think it was a mistake to get rid of shield as an organization. I think shield gave fury a cool factor that he doesn’t have anymore not to mention the resources and the gadgets and spy tech. Imagine if rather than Hydra infiltrating SHIELD it was the Skrulls.

Grace, it's okay to admit the show is better than doubters have given it credit.

This show is getting interesting! There’s no way G’iah is actually gone because it’s just too soon for that and I don’t think they would have given Emilia Clarke that small of a role. I would say my minor issue with this show is that it should be a more global story but so far it’s all taken place in Europe. Not including (so far) at least one big Avenger is a huge misstep.

I thought you were going to mention how Fury's "wife" talked about Dreykov, the guy that ran the Black Widow program. It was a nice little easter egg.

I'm enjoying it. I do keep imagining how great it could have been if it had been a whole MCU phase though.

This Episode was So Good!!! The 2nd One is still My Favorite, But This Episode was Great too! I didn't expect Gi'ah to get shot at the end, But There was a lot of Trailer Footage that She was in that Hasn’t happened yet, So She's Probably Not Dead. Also I knew Rhodey was a Skrull. He was just acting very weird in The Last 2 Episodes. I don't think He was a Skrull the whole time, He was just recently replaced. This Show has Been Fantastic!!! I Can't wait for The Next Episode!!!

Fury also says "no one calls me nick!" Which Rodey did during their meeting. So that pretty much gave it away

When Grace says "I kinda like it," you know she's doing her best to like the show. She is doing all the effort, and not the series. After 2 Ep, I quit. But never to Grace's breakdowns. Those are gems! ❤

I think it would've been an excellent opportunity for the show to give everyone some context concerning the Avengers. Since Rogers and Stark are no longer around is there even a team, personally I think not.

I understand why in-world it isn't called "The Snap". But I've always have an issue with "The Blip". Like tf, people were turned into ash. Not blip out of existance

I’m pretty sure Giah also took some memories from the scientist lady, therefore figured out how to work the machine to super skrull herself. I am enjoying the show because I’m not thinking about “what it should be” anymore, I am just kind enjoying it as it is. There really is no point in it should be, especially since everyone wants everything when it is obvious that everything can’t be delivered.

The fantastic acting skills of Samuel Jackson, Olivia, Coleman and Ben Mendelsohn are the only things keeping me interested in the show.

It’s starting to really annoy me how Marvel keep tackling these huge, important storylines from the comics but don’t bother doing it justice because it’s gonna be “too much money”. If you’re not gonna have the right budget, don’t even bother. It’s so obvious it’s a money game now, there’s no heart in it anymore, and it’s a shame.

I’m still enjoying the Disney plus MCU shows but feel many have fallen short of how amazing Falcon & Winter Soldier was. That series garnered unfair criticism when compared to its many successors.

I hate how they took such an iconic and HUGE story and cut it down to this…

I feel like this is building up to the xmen and issues they will deal with being different. The skrull want to live on earth as normal, but Nick fury says that's not possible, but what about new asgard. They are on earth and alot of them don't look human. So if the shrulls can't live in peace, the xmen will have the same problem.

The issue as well is that Nick wasn’t the only one that was supposed to look out for the Skrulls but Captain Marvel as well. Did Carol have a falling out with everyone? Talos? Monica? We need to know what happened!

I am liking this show but i dont get all the skrulls nick had working for him undecover and none of them over the decades found out hydra infiltrated shield.

That Talos line was perfect “I’m not with him because I’m with you.” He was explains to Fury that just like you aren’t siding with him, I couldn’t either. It’s alluding to how despite their being different species they are aligned because they aren’t murderers. Talos is just as virtuous as Fury and he’s letting him now this isn’t about some deal that I could make with anyone else by force. It’s not about Nick keeping his promise, but about Talos keeping his. Humans and Skrulls can coexist and he will work towards that.

That lady was/is the doctor that's doing the super skrull tests. She was in episode 2, I think..... I believe he would have reached out to Bruce.

I don't understand the whole point of Secret Invasion... I mean they gave a whole new sovereign town to Asgardians with political rights to Valkyrie so why can't they give similar country to Skrulls who have been helping American government for 30 years. Why such discrimination against Skrulls?

The woman in the fracking pod looks like the female scientist working on the Super Skrullifier machine, Dr Rosa Dalton. I think the tortured Skrull in the butchershop leaked to Sonya that the scientists are a married couple named the Daltons.

Huge marvel fan but this show is SO difficult to get through for some reason. I have basically half-quit.

I would love to see flash backs with Talos and fury doing fun spy adventures like Beverly Hills cop or lethal weapon. Show the bond between them. And show how Talos did half the work but fury got all the credit. And why is nobody talking about why the Fairbanks skrull cared when fury used the human son as a hostage exchange. And if the son was a skrull then why couldn’t he overpower fury because of his skrull strength. And if he wasn’t a skrull then why would the doppelgänger who is part of a mission to exterminate humanity care about this boy and do the trade for Talos.

I still don’t understand why Talos’s group came back to Earth two years after leaving at the end of Capt. Marvel.

I keep falling asleep during Secret Invasion (2/3 episodes) which is something I don’t normally do when I’m watching something but there’s something about this show that sends me straight to sleep 💤 🛌

There are those who prefer jumping from climax to climax with little or no story-building and those who appreciate time dedicated to character building and larger arcs between bloodshed and action. Then there are the rare types who dig both -- if they're done well.

MCU is like one of those cars they crush into a cube at the auto wreckers

I really feel like flashbacks could have been the answer to making this series feel like it has an effect across the MCU. We've seen shows like Hawkeye bring back the original invasion in a flashback so seeing flashbacks to previous movies like Avengers, Ironman, and so on would have been so cool.

I still feel that this show feels like several post credit scenes cut together. This would have been an amazing movie with a big budget or, yknow, an entire phase. Multiverse is going to haunt Marvel for a long time.

Man I was screaming at the screen the whole episode, I was so upset when Gi’ah got shot although I have a feeling she’s still alive. I agree with you a lot of the writing is a bit sloppy hopefully it’ll improve otherwise I like what they did with Talos and Fury this episode. Not sure how they’re going to resolve this issue in just 3 episodes, unless they plan to explain in it one of the movies or maybe armor wars. Who knows? Maybe because Rhoadie has been replaced as a Skrull, that they explain it there. I honestly expected maybe DC coming out with this level of sloppy writing it feels weird to see that Marvel has been reduced to this. I also appreciate the joke Mackie made on Twitter that if the actors and writers strike keeps going they might have to hire RU-vidrs. Kind of a low blow but if it does ever come down to that and things do escalate I do have a few RU-vidrs in mind that could do far better work than what’s been going on. 👀👀👀

This series has a lot of potential (I loved ep.2), but I remember when the John Woo directed Mission Impossible II came out, while solid, it sufferered from using the masks to the point that the audience lost any investment in anyone or anything that happened (oh, is that little girl skipping rope actually Tom?😜). This series reminds me of that. Another concerning trend is that the strong females are being killed (you know who) or abandoned (Olivia Coleman &.... Fury's Skrull wife?!😮) Great review, Grace!💕

Where is the Kree? The Skrulls must know that the humans with their superheroes are the only thing standing between them and the Kree finishing them off.

I saw on another review of this episode that they may have just revealed at least one skrull avenger. War Machine. They pointed out that he got a credit for this show, & it was possibly his voice of the guy Fury’s woman called toward the end. Remember earlier, War Machine said he volunteered to fire Fury.

What would have helped with the code word thing is if gaia saw a memory of him calling his son a nickname and then that was the passcode, so it wasn't as obvious as just being his sons name

They missed a good opportunity to make the Son a Skrull while they believed he was “Safe”.

Samuel L Jackson just has that magic that makes every line he says sound super interesting and entertaining. I was so mesmerized by his Black Dingus speech in Hateful Eight.

I’m honestly curious for MCU as a whole. The Skrulls came to Earth 30 years ago with over a million of refugees… and not one of them were discovered across the globe. Especially when it came down to global tragedies, both real world events and Avengers-Level Events.

I think the next 3 episodes will pretty much be more of the same low key spy stuff, ramping up for Garvik's next big attack in the season finale.

I low key gave up on the show but thank you for the reviews so i can kinda keep up with it lol.

If you rewatch wandavision, there's a scene where agent Jimmy woo writes "skrull???" on a board when trying to find out what the hex was and that took place well before secret invasion so I'm like 50% sure the world knows about skrulls but it could be just the governments 🤔

The fact that "The Marvels" is the next entry after this is absolutely baffling me

I liked last week's episode, and I *wanted* to like this one, but I didn't, unfortunately. I feel like we're just spinning our wheels again, halfway through a Marvel season, without any MCU-worthy action sequences. I also feel that last week's episode strongly implied that Fury was about to regain some of his old fire, but he didn't: he spent most of this episode being lectured by his wife and then lectured by Talos. Disney keeps writing older male characters as broken and apologetic.

I totally agree its possible Gaia is also a Super Skrull. I do wonder if the Skrulls can shapeshift themselves internally, so maybe Gaia shifted her vital organs to survive that shot.

Why does this show seem to hate Fury so much?

The writing on this show is awesome. I used to like Nick Fury and now I really don’t care for him at all. A rapid scheduled disassembly of an icon. As for the rest of the story, ofc, who needs any real motivation to commit genocide, not Skrulls. They just need to be let down and get a bit annoyed in order to wipe out humanity. And finally, even though Emilia Clarke is only 4ft 2” she can take out guards with a single punch and drive cars and motor bikes without booster seat. I’m so excited with this show I’m not sure I can bring myself to watch it anymore.

I heard a theory from another reviewer that perhaps there are two Nick Fury's working with one being Talos' wife in Fury form working with him at times. I have been enjoying the show and eagerly going along for the ride.
