exactly ... that bridge scene is throw back.. the blinged out tank and the pink sward that Lisa was weilding from DDu du ddu du, the earth glob Rose was sitting whistle and she also was swinging on the chandelier ddu ddu, the truck behind Lisa was from boombayah, Jisoo's behind the picture of her wearing pink wig and umbrela Jisoo was holding, Jennie's bath tub with match burning was all reffernces from the past in Shut Down !!! old blinks all noticed that as soon as we saw in the music video..!!
and also may I add.. the scene on the shutdown where they are back to back together singing the line "keep watching me shut it down" at 1:20 is also the same scene from the As if its your last where they are also back to back together and the camera is revolving around them. 😁
Shut Down MV is showing Blackpink old and new era, they are shutting down their old era and when you saw in the vid they are entering the elevator going UP, its like they are leveling up and entering the New Era ❤️❤️❤️ its just based on what I understood on the MV ... So exciting🔥
3:40 glad you caught that. Only that it's not just Playing With Fire. In Shut Down, they actually referenced ALL their music videos. But they mostly referenced "DDU-DU DDU-DU" (especially the tank 🔥). "Playing With Fire" is probably second. "Kill This Love" references are also apparent. "Pink Venom" too (look at Lisa's mask in Shut Down). If you look at the alleyway scene, it's a call back to the bridge in Kill This Love, and ALL their biggest songs are written among the board signs, including the girls solos (Solo, On The Ground, Gone, Lalisa, Money).
There are a bunch of easter eggs in Shut Down that reference almost all of their older videos, even some of the solo work. To me Shut Down is a triple, they are shutting down their haters, the music scene with every song they release, and then possibly their older image and are starting toward a new direction in their music and identity. Born Pink is showing their rebirth.
I love the way he remembers all of the sets in Shut down and Pink Venom. Truly a good reactor. He's not just reacting just go with the flow with the hype. He's a fan pretty sure. Blinks celebrate 🥳
Yep. They even used the hands uncovering the eyes transition to reveal Lisa on the dock at the beginning of Shut Down like they did here. This is still one of my all time favorites of theirs. It never fails to get me dancing.
Yes, Lisa's part in Playing with fire was also taken for Shut down M/V. The difference is that Shut down M/V shows water instead of fire. The surprising thing is that Lisa is the one who came up with the idea to switch from fire to water. This isn't the first time Lisa flexed her creativity in design. For her solo debut Lisa was attributed as the creative director for all aspects of it. outfits, album, design originated from her ideas.
“Shut Down” is basically the bookend of this phase of Blackpink. So, there was a lot of imagery that replicated past videos. It referenced “Whistle,” “Boombayah,” “Playing With Fire,” “Ddu Ddu,” and “Kill This Love.” Now, there are certain themes that keep popping up in their songs. You found one of them - talking about the black heart in “Playing With Fire” and showing the black heart in “Pink Venom.” In the second chorus of “Shut Down,” the signs in the background reference either a Blackpink song, lyric or album name. I hope to make a video about all of the references in “Shut Down.” There is supposedly is also a teaser in that scene to a future Jisoo solo song.
People LOVE this song. The beats are HARD again!!! The vocals come in strong!!! Lyrics actually have a message. Fans really studied those lyrics. This one caused comments on repeatedly containing Jisoo in these videos. Right? she's actually in the closet here,.. and can't seem to get out. The dance choreo is fabulous on this one. One of their best dance practices, if you get to watch it. They really vibe in this dance routine,.. especially Lisa just living in her element here. It's a total BOP!!!!
Shut down has a lot of call backs to their previous tracks like ddu-du ddu-du,Boombayah,playing with fire, whistle, kill this love. If you watch every scene of shut down carefully you can probably see. I don’t think pink venom is a throwback though. Black heart scene was just a co incidence imo
Most Blinks saw the call backs in "Shutdown" and loved the references to this and other older Blackpink music videos. As you watch more videos you will see many iconic scenes from these older music videos recreated in the "Shutdown" music video, but made edgier to suit their present image.
Love "Shut Down"... EVERYTHING is a reference to their past M/V's... I Love how they did that with the sets, even to the billboards, signs, and graffiti "Shut Down"... They are saying don't forget where we came from but WE ARE STILL HERE, STILL ON TOP and Turning the Page to Begin a NEW CHAPTER. New floor, New opertunities, More Space for MORE CONTENT The song samples classical composer Paganini's “La Campanella,” amazing combination of classical music with hip hop beats. And you have it backwards It's FIRE in this M/V and it's RAIN in "Shut Down" with Lisa on the pier.
So, you’re on the right track .. Shut Down has multiple call backs: -playing with fire (bridge, tub) -whistle (rose on world) -Boombaya (all 4 in Lambo, same as on mopeds, Lisa’s first verse) -dduu (Jennie’s tank, rose swing, Jisoo umbrella,Jisoo picture from video behind her on her second verse, Lisa sword) -kill this love (heart next to Jennie tub on table, rose car) .. I’m sure there’s more, but you get the idea
Jennie's sequined heart purse from "Kill This Love" is on the table by her tub in "Shut Down". The final car sequence of "Shut Down" with all the girls in a car going through an LED neon light filled tunnel recalls the LED neon flower tunnel with a car from "As If It's Your Last". The quick slo-mo shot of the girls running away from the camera near the end of "Shut Down" recalls the same type of dreamy slo-mo shot of the girls running away from the camera at the end of "Stay".
If you remember, there were garage rooms in the Shut Down MV. Inside those garages are the old BP sets, which were mostly from this song, DDDD, and KTL. Do you remember the scene where Lisa and Jennie were standing outside those garage rooms and then they put the shutter down? It means that they are shutting down the past, the old BP---meaning, we are now entering a new era. A new era might mean new styles in their music, new projects, etc. Pink Venom does not have that concept on their music video. The black heart is just a coincidence, because it is a common imagery.
It’s not complicated, it’s easy for Blink who’s been with Blackpink from the start when watching Shut Down MV, it’s a homage for most of their MV discography, not only Playing With Fire
It’s not a homage. They are shutting down the old and walking into the new era (the end shows they are walking in a hallway that is new and empty). You can see jennie and lisa closed the old in the beginning. It also has the second meaning saucydad alluded to is not to mess with them or your playing fire
@@16bitdude I’m talking about the MV reference, not the meaning in a whole, even so an homage meant that they play a respect to their previous MV/songs through out their music career, regardless they shutting down this era and going into the new era they are ‘paying respect’ to their own achievements to all those song and Blink that helped them to came this far, so YES it is an Homage. lol.
Actually Shut Down is a call back. However my interpretation is that SD is a slap in the face to all the haters and the up n coming girl groups trying to dethrone BP. So, they're telling those groups that they can't compete with BP because they're on another level. And here's the blueprint to get there, their previous MV's. If you listen to the lyrics, you'll understand this message. Jisoo line, " It ain't cheap, baby" meaning hard work(5 years of training) and having a company spending over the top money on top notch MV's...as well as their brands allowing their products to be used in the MV's. The clothing n jewelry are all from top designers. Smart advertising
Not just Playing with fire but other old MVs as well. I would say the callbacks in the Shutdown MV may suggest that Black Pink is reflecting on its past and about to enter a new phase (That Jennie and Lisa slammed the garage door shut is a strong message that they are so over it and now it's time to move on to the next level)
You are real Blinks! Yes, there are many hints between BLACKPINK MV (both Virual & Lyrics), especially this come back Pink Venom & Shut Down. Next, please react to Netflix Documentary "BLACKPINK - Light up the sky".
The concept of Shut down is shutting down the old Blackpink , so day referrence back to their old sonngs like Ddu du ddu, playing with fire, whistle, Boom ba yah etc.
There's multiple call backs in shut down there playing with fire call back d4 call back and boombayah has a call back and more almost all there songs have been referenced in shut down
Yes that's a call back. Also the bath tub scene for jennie except on shutdown tub is black. They also called back some scenes from their other old videos like whistle, boombayah, ddu-du, etc. It represents a new chapter for them shutting down the old stuff and going up to the elevator on the last part of shutdown coz they are about to level up.
You're on the right track. Shut it down is where the messages are. There are "call backs" throughout Shut it down to their previous videos in which they are closing the door on, shitting it down if you will, their past and introducing the new Blackpink. New attitude. More fierce. More swag, etc. I believe there are 4 or 5 call backs throughout Shut it down. Maybe more. I can't remember them all.
"When we pull up you know it's a shutdown" Blackpink keeps breaking new records(including thier own old records) everytime they release new song. The shutdown mv take references from their old mv to tell the concept (Just my own guess)
wow i really enjoyed the way you approach to blackpink mvs' concepts & storytellings. Some goes similar with mine and some goes not which even made me to watch those again.
All The BLACKPINK References You Might Have Missed in “Shut Down” BOOMBAYAH BLACKPINK’s debut music video for “BOOMBAYAH” featured two scenes that “Shut Down” references: Lisa’s solo shot in front of a garbage truck and the group riding toy cars. The “Shut Down” versions of these scenes have a clear message: BLACKPINK isn’t playing around anymore. Lisa stunts in front of a truck loaded with money-filled duffel bags, while in the corresponding group shot, the four girls ride an expensive sports car while wearing BLACKPINK face coverings. Whistle “Shut Down” only references one scene from the “Whistle” music video. In the original video, Rosé sings while sitting on top of the world. In “Shut Down,” the vocalist does the same thing, but this time the world is, symbolically, black and pink. Playing With Fire The fire motifs in “Playing With Fire” make an appearance in “Shut Down,” through Jennie and Lisa’s solo shots. In the recent release, Jennie mimics her actions from “Shut Down,” lighting a match while laying in a bathtub. Meanwhile, Lisa performs her verse on the bridge that was featured in the “Playing With Fire” music video, but this time, she is dancing energetically instead of watching it go up in flames. DDU-DU DDU-DU “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the most-referenced music video in “Shut Down,” with every member recreating one of their solo scenes. Jisoo holds an umbrella amidst raining money, Rosé swings from a black chandelier, Lisa nonchalantly breaks a ‘record’ with her BLACKPINK-branded sword, and Jennie flexes her bling atop a glammed-out tank. Kill This Love Last, but not least, “Kill This Love” is subtly referenced twice in the group’s latest single. Rosé recreates a scene from the older video by driving alone, but in contrast to “Kill This Love,” she is no longer crying as she does so. And, in one of Jennie’s solo shots, the bejeweled heart she breaks and a pair of angel wings used as decoration recall her opening scene in the “Kill This Love” music video. I HOPE YOU REACT MORE OF BP!! SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH KISSES FROM BRAZIL.
Great reaction. Shut Down has call backs to just about every MV they have ever made. Just the first 2 scenes of Shut Down after Playing with Fire deck scene: All 4 in the car, just like Whistle. Pink Sky Background of this scene: just like opening and closing scenes of Boombayah: Bedazzled tank: DDDD.
If you really are true Blink, you will see there are many scenes YG use from the old BP’s MV. Da du da du da du, Boombayha, Playing with Fire, Kill this love. You can check back n compare. Shut Down means BP Girls will take the level up high so forget the old songs, they are moving up the higher level and most important they don’t care nor pay attention to all the haters. The final sentence that Rose said in Shut down is ‘ KEEP TALKING, WE SHUT YOU DOWN!’
I think the song "Shot Down" with all the references of their past MV's is to remind all the haters that Blackpink has been shutting it down in every comeback since Boombayah. The number of views of every MV's speaks for itself.
This is how you get to know BLACKPINK by going back to their old vids... then you’ll get why they are so BIG...!😉🤙🏽 🔥🔥🔥 You should check out their “B side songs” REALLY, SO HOT, SEE U LATER , DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO and KICK IT..🔥🔥🔥
Its was always my least favourite because they dont switch things up like you expect from other BP songs, so kind of sounds like BP doing a cover of someone elses song. But their worst song still has 780 million views and is better than most groups best song
whats wrong with video bro we also want to see the music video with also make your music videos clear then every would love you bro a suggetion from blink to blink🙂🙂🙂🙂
The callbacks in Shut Down to several older videos were them saying goodbye to their older sounds (the cluttered scenes full of old props from their older videos), packing them all away in storage garages (slamming the rolling doors closed) and moving up (they take the elevator "UP") to new floors filled with vacant rooms ready to fill with new sounds at their next level,... Shut Down.
The fact that Saucydad caught these visual call backs being a new BLINK is quite impressive... I say this because most reactors just "react” to the musics regardless of the fact that they like it or not, and I understand them too because at the end of the day, there's so much other stuffs to do than fanboy/fangirl over the artists. What I actually want to say is you made my day by just catching those because I had been so disappointed with so many reactors (although I understand them) because I expected them to be a fellow BLINK like me❤️
May i recommend some good BP reactors? KnoxHill, andrew pilluk, i forgot some of them, but i bet you'll appreciate them also. But still i love saucey daddy as a new blink. Thankyou 😊
@@infinitechaii thanks but I've known them for a long time now... I've literally watched nearly 94% of the world’s reaction channels that reacts to Blackpink bruh💀
Shut down was a call back to all their old M/V their closing the chapter to the old Blackpink & shutting it down , then they went up in the elevator to their next level 👏🏽👏🏽 Ddu Du , kill this love , boombayah, playing with fire all call backs. The tank , the Samurai sword, the truck with money , the tub , the match , the heart she has on the table , the umbrella , the car , the globe rose was sitting on , the chandelier, the scene with jisoo and the camera , a lot of callbacks. Die hard fans picked up right away it was perfect & fun to look back

Shut down was not a call back to only Playing with fire it was a call back to Playing with fire, DDU DU DDU DU, Wistle, Boombayah, Kill this love.. you just didn't caught it they shut down the scenes with the door in the garage, as they are closing back their past
