Gripping contest as always!! That instant translation into English was especially cool. I thought the backing tracks alongside your commentary helped to reflect the Soviet atmosphere perfectly 👌
Glad to see you back in Estonia and in Tartu. I wonder wether you took heed of my remark or discovered the museum on your own, but kudos. Some Estonian artists from the Classical era to the Modernist era: Amandus Adamson, Johan Köler, August Weizenberg, Kristjan Raud, Konrad Mägi, Eduard Wiiralt, Evald Okas. The list goes on and on.
Interesting to see an outside perspective on the museum! Just a note: the Estonian people were certainly hit hard by deportations and russification, but they are still a large majority in Estonia, it's not like the nation has disappeared. You say at the end of the video that the British don't celebrate the people and cultures that came before, not like Estonians. But Estonians view themselves as direct descendants of these people (not all finno-ugric tribes, but those settling in Estonia) and see this culture as their own culture. There is definitely no such thing as a pure Estonian, we are a mix of everyone who has come here over centuries (as are most people), but the sense of a continuous culture is definitely there and something people take pride in having conserved (despite foreign powers attempting to suppress it). Oh, and my favourite Estonian artist is Konrad Mägi, check him out if you can. His work is very varied in his different periods and has a pretty unique feel. Thanks for the great content and I hope the crisis doesn't hit too hard!
super museum ! i am due to spend a week touring Estonia in August (Virus depending)..would certainly like to check this place out myself.. i was planning on visiting Tartu on my tour - how far from the centre is it located? and how much was the entrance fee / taxi from the centre
There's a bus from the centre- refer to Google maps - every 15mins and a taxi costs around 5 euros - I took a taxi there and got a bus back. Its about 5/6mins from centre depending on traffic. I think I paid €10 for a ticket - prices subject to change im sure when it reopens after Virus.
Definitely visit the museum of University of Tartu as well. They just opened up a new permanent exhibition last November and it's very good! If you in town, I can show you around!
Beautiful visit. I am from Tartu and have been traveling to long in other places, so have not jet visited the museum myself lol. Yes they where thinking whether to build a museum or airport on the location. Personally I think museum is safer option. When someone wants to bomb the airport than the other one is in Ulenurme, which is somewhat in use. The flights from London use to come there. I and one other person alone where flying from London to Ulenurme last time with Ryan Air. Not much customers so the flights stopped. Thanks so much for taking time to film your visit to museum. Thinking about all the military bases around the U.S. where they keep children and do the satanic rituals, around the world also. Hope there is nothing underneath that building. Save The Children! Q-anon. Trump. Amen!!!
Too bad you didn't mention about the Metallica concert that took place last summer behind the museum on the landing strip. 60-70k people - it was awesome!
The building is brand new not a old base :D there was nothing but airport open field left.. No buildings. funny but for me it is super ugly because it actually looks like some storage house in military base :D and it cost a lot. No idea how I want our national museum to look like anyway.
An airfield and many hangers to hold the numerous buildings + i read there were underground bunkers - would make sense given the secrecy of the base during the cold War.
Yes just before - took me a while to get the video out I have more videos to come but I'm not super fast on my edits 🙃 Hope you are keeping well in the lockdown?
The wondering Englishman yes it looks like 2020 is going to be very bad for the world’s economy. So many unemployed and of course much worse, so many deaths
Hello Alex!!! why do you think , what Russian's people the occupiers? They have their history and could you say to me ? how do you feel about russians ?
I love the people of Russia I object to communsim and the occupation of a country through forced migration by their government. The same thing has happened to Tibet. The Chinese have displaced the Tibetan people by the mass migration of Chinese into Tibet and forced occupation.
@@KenMasters1 Dude, these were often church scholars, who had an agenda of portraying non-Christian peoples or those who still worshipped some pagan traditions as badly as possible.
