Yes its a ground effect vehicle 😅 i said the wrong thing in the video, for some reason i said hydro foil, my mistakeThose History Nerds be attacking me lol
I'm gonna attack you some more. Just kidding. Idk about trailmakers but just to give you the thought of how the real thing actually worked, the ekranoplan had its jets angled in such a way that the compressed air coming out of the exhausts would pass through underneath the wings. That's what provided it the lift.
@@DrJiKentauriuzHero no, that's only how it got out of the water. Once in cruise, the front engines would shut off and the 2 rear ones stayed on. At that point, the lift from the wings, which was higher near the surface due to the ground effect, was enough to make it stay airborne
Yesterday i watched a video about this hoping someone would recreate it in trailmakers, and now this!? must be a HUGE coincidence... Btw I love the design!! Keep it Up!
Same dude. Two days ago youtube recommended me a video about the ekranoplan too. And I started imagining what it would be like if it were recreated in trailmakers. Was the video you watched titled "Thw Caspian Sea monster Not a Plane not a Boat" by any chance?
Precisely what I did with my American version. But on the engines. No flap wings. The Ekranoplan focuses its engine thrust under the wings to help start ground effect then the real one kills half the engines when it gains so many meters off the surface.
You need and altitude sensor controlling weather or not it pitches slightly down or slightly up so an altitude sensor controlling angles sensors, I wish it was as simple as you put it
I have a creation in Trailmakers, and although it is quite small, it is probably the first ever actual ground effect vehicle in the game, as it starts as a hydrofoil but around 300mph it lifts out of the water but doesn't take off, instead staying just above the surface
Before I point out the few inaccuracies in your design, I would like to congratulate you on your build. It looks very good! With that out of the way, the ekranoplan is not a hydrofoil, but a wing in ground effect vehicle. No part is touching the water during flight. A hydrofoil would have the wings be placed underwater while most of the craft stay above water. Feel free to ignore the next part, as it’s mostly nitpicking. This seems to be the KM, and your reference picture was distorted by the camera. The KM’s wings were smaller than this, while the tail was larger than the wings. The picture also hid the two engines mounted underneath the tail, which were used during cruise. The rest were only used for takeoff. Lastly, the engines themselves are too large for the build. Aesthetics-wise only, the raw jets might have been better. Hope you learned something new! Top down KM pic for reference: www.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.5156082.1603376791!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_960/image.jpg
just a quick tip: the kaspian monster used the 8huge engines onli during take off, for the rest of the flight it used back 2 smaller engines mounted on the tail
It is nice to see the KM, the craziest ekranoplane. Nice reminder of the crazy Soviet Union hydrofoil engineers and the thirst for power. By the way, ekranoplanes are a type of plane that uses ground effect so that they could carry more for less fuel, not one aircraft.
Knowing in how it’s a ground effect vehicle it should have been able to work above ground and not only on water, so the real thing could have been made to go over small islands and possibly small boats when moving about the ocean so there would be less obstacles in its way when going from point A to point B
You and scrapman could join content, to see who designs an aircraft or historical creation, and that it looks more like reality. It would be very cool and fun for both
To be truthful to the real design what you have made was the soviet plane called the KM which was a Ekranoplane not a hydrofoil which is very different. However great build and video. If you want to know more about these planes I suggest watching a video on Mustard about these “giant monsters” of the sea. There are 2 videos (one about the VVA and the other about the KM) which both describe 2 Ekranoplane builders and what they did for the Soviet Union.
The front engines are only meant to get out of the water, when the ks Caspian sea monster got out of the water it would be powered by only 2 engines in the back.
Ah, the old Caspian sea monsters. I was hoping if someone ever tackled a WIG (wing in ground effect) airplane, they might instead try the even more obscure Lippisch RFB X-114.
thing is, it was mainly rolling because you messed up the mirroring, instead of both being the same for the flaps, you missed a modular wing piece right at the base of the wing.
fyi it also had to jet engines midway up the tail, the front engines would be switched on to get out of the water and then when it was in the ground affect the front engines would be switched of so it would fly with only the back engines on.
He is WAY to High up. The real was staying just over the water on an Air cushion. That is not in Tralmakers so the best thing to do it with is hoverpads. +he forgot the tail engines. They are the only active ones inflight. The front is just for gaining enough speed. ++What he sid you dont need an ekronoplan to do. You just need to fly a plane glose to the water.
Am BDPskater that kid your don't like but what am good at trailmakers but I might be young but am your biggest fan and all I want is from you is a Hi but did not 😢
