MIDI gear: Korg N1 synth, Roland XP30 synth, Korg X5DR, Alesis NanoPiano, Alesis Nana Bass, Boss DR5, Yamaha TG33, Akai S3000 sampler, Roland MC50 sequencer.
Recording: Roland VS880v2 and VS1680.
Other instruments: 12/11 hammered dulcimer, Fender electric guitar, Dean electric/acoustic guitar, ebow.
This edition features two of the musician's last released tracks "Arisen", and "Horizon", originally featured on the Secret Stairways Myspace page.
Matthew Davis died in 2011 but his memory lives on through his music. A percentage of the profits will be donated to Matt's family.

Wow. What a jewel. Listened to it 2 times in a row. The author put his soul in this work. It is rare to find something so flawless among modern dungeon synth albums. Gotta check out his other works.

Wow, this is from 1999?! Amazing that you managed to recover something from Myspace as well. This type of dungeon synth sounds distinct, I would even say that it reminds me of the old internet a bit lol. The composer was a talented man. Beautiful album.

The two songs were found on an unmarked CD in 2020 among Matt's copious saved projects on tape and CD. (I remembered the melodies and the track lengths matched) Although he had just called them "Something New" and "Something Else New" on MySpace, I asked his daughter what she'd like to name them. And thus, "Arisen" and "Horizon" were added to his Bandcamp, dedicated to her, his 'turning point'. ~ Grey Sister

@@tuomasronnberg5244 Dungeon Synth is an offshoot of the Dark Ambient genre of electronic music. Although the name for Dungeon Synth appeared in 2011, in the 90s we could see Dark Dungeon Music by Mortiis or Dark Medieval Ambient by Pazuzu. Among the precursors of Dungeon Synth are Darkwave and Neoclassical by Dead Can Dance.
