You need to complete go the cave artifacts to unlock gemmy and there is a gnome in the forest area (I believe) that you can interact with to unlock the gnome. Please like so camodo sees this and can find the pets :)

So to find the rock pet, those crystals you saw in each area that had the scroll, you need to turn all 4 of them into the Museum. 1 crystal pure scroll room.

Oh yeah, 2 other things. 1, in the first cave you went in, there is a large monument circle thing with candles, it give you a special hat. 2, in the cave where you got the trial hat from those 2 explorers, there are three more chests for the rest of the gifts, one in the frogger area, one in the second trail test room with the invisible bridge where you can get the trial top, and one in another room like the room you found the pants in that gives a frog hat.

to unlock gemmy you need to bring all the gem shards from the caves in the new update, to get the nome like you said you need to find a certain one on the map.
