@@trancevoyagesessions I’m pretty sure I covered it in this episode, but if I didn’t - best check out the 9 months later of my original titan episode which goes into detail about firmness and the health benefits.
Ye it was funny, unfortunately it only addressed the absolute bionkers concerns, like he said theres stronger magnets in your headset alone. So I really wouldn’t have wasted time on addressing the lizard people worshippers. I’d much rather have seen like a chiropractor or an Orthopedic surgeons take on wether or not this chair is good for your spine.
@@Moonwired Funny you're mentioning lizard people worshippers but that you would have appreciated an interview with a chiropractor, which are quite the snake oil salesmen themselves lol.
I was literally saying this to my wife a few moments ago! Once he goes into the close ups with voiceover it was as if Clarkson was reviewing my newest chair purchase.
Thank you again for the informative video. How's the firmness of the base seat after 6 months? Did it soften a bit? Did you ever experience discomfort at your tailbone? Thanks!
@@StusReviewsUK I can confirm your findings. Im a much larger guy, 6'5" 300lb, and got a Titan Evo. Foam has deff broken in and gotten softer but doesnt bottom out and i can sit in the chair for a long time with no issue. I am using the stock arm rest and have had no issues with them. Bought mine in Nov 2021
I have the new Titan chair and it came with a broken tab on the left arm. Secret Lab went beyond my expectations in sending me a new arm, and tracing the shipment, keeping in touch the whole time. Great after sales service.
Amazing review. There are so many reviews out there that are complete trash just pushing affiliate links. I think you have convinced me to go with Secret Labs.
Got a SL chair (TITAN Evo 2022 Series) in mid June. 1 month in my lumbar is making the noise, 4 months in my left arm rest has tore (in an odd spot) and grows each day. Hoping Customer Service will take action for mine, ask me in about a weeks time of how its going and I will gladly update here. But I don't feel like they are going to replace anything for me. Edit: The customer service is very nine and willing to replace by backrest and armrest with documentation (while the armrest is not covered in the warranty)
Great Review Stu! I bought the 2022 soft weave after your initial video and it’s been great. I did however have the issue with the squeaky back and although I had to wait a few months for a replacement it came through and the support from Secretlabs has been brilliant.
Out of interest, did you have to send the other one back and at any cost to you? I think there’s a few people in here who might want to do the replacement and have asked those questions!
@@StusReviewsUK yes they requested that the old part needs to be returned but they still haven’t responded to my request for it to be collected. Some additional info that may be useful, when I submitted my support request they responded that they will arrange a replacement but will also carry out a check on the faulty one to make sure that the replacement part is free of charge. I disputed this possible charge as the product was still under warranty and also this was a known issue. They then confirmed there will be no charge and delivery and collection costs will also be covered by them. Also, it took them 3 months to get the replacement part out to me.
I have a 2020 model in the Batman design. I bought it partially based on your previous review, as it was hard to find unbiased reviews. So far it's been solid. I had one minor issue at the beginning where one of the adjustment flaps were broken, but secret labs were very responsive and sent new flaps right away. Otherwise the chair has been great. It's definitely firmer than my old chairs, but I do find it's better for my back than my old squishy chair. And I love the ability to recline. Overall, while it's definitely expensive, I'm happy with my purchase and do recommend the chairs. Thanks for the update Stu! You should try reviewing a Cybeart chair at some point to see how they compare!
@@StusReviewsUK Yeah, they're pretty close although they also have some interesting designs, such as the Mortal Kombat designs and the new Batman movie design. Would be interesting to do a side by side and see if Cybeart is close or if they're only good in appearance. I think Cybeart uses the skater wheels you're fond of ;)
I have a Titan Classic (2019). The material is leatherette and unfortunately, it is peeling off. The durability of the leatherette made in 2019 is not very good. The rest of the chair is OK. The peeling of the chair wouldn't be so bad if Secretlabs would offer SKINS for the Classic chairs where I could at least put that on and continue to use the chair for a few more years. However, that isn't possible at the moment. I paid 700$ CAD back in the day and I would have expected the chair to last longer than that; like I said, it wouldn't be that bad if SKINS were sold for it. I'm now looking for a new chair and I guess I will have to think if I want to invest in something a bit more highend that is longer lasting.. It will really depend if the Titan EVO series is more durable. Just one final note, I recently got a new member in the family, a cat.. If you do have a cat, stay away from the leatherette, it will get scratches. For me that isn't a problem since the chair is peeling away. So yeah, if you have a cat, consider getting the softweave.
Hello, I have a question about the lumbar support on the XL and the regular model and it's possibility to adjust it. 🙂 I am relatively tall (6'4 / 193 cm), I could easily take the Titan Evo XL, but I would prefer the "regular", because I have very narrow shoulders and the armrests on the XL are too far apart for me. I measured. How far up can the lumbar support be raised on the regular in comparison to the XL? How many inches / cm can I raise to lumbar support higher on the XL, compared to the regular? Do you understand what I mean? I would appreciate a qualified answer. Greetings from Germany 🙂 Johannes
I owned a Omega 2020 before but sold it as I found the seat cushion/foam was too hard for me. I have heard the Evo 2022 have a softer seat cushion, is it true? Can you feel the different Stu?
I currently own a Maxnomic, regular size as recommended by the Maxnomic size guide. It states that the regular chair is for people upto 1.84CM long. I am 1.84. My issue with this Maxnomic is that my head sits way higher than the top of the chair. I can't use the pillow due to that either. So even though my Maxnomic is only 1 year old I'm consdering getting rid of it and buying a Secret Labs which for my length suggests a XL.
Well put it this way, theres a reason gym benches and machines use leatherette... Sure the softweave wont stick, but sure as hell will it become stinking if you are a particularly sweaty individual. Better being able to wipe it down!
I've got the 2020 omega chair, and I am seriously considering upgrading to the titan evo variant after seeing all of its features and how well it holds up. unfortunately, I've only had my chair for less than a year however the arm rests are splitting on the sides due to pressure from my elbows near the edges and I can't swap them like I could with the new magnetic ones...
Call secret labs or buy the new armrests. They fit exactly same as 2020. Then swap them out with the bolts. And now you have new armrests and now they are magnetic. Just think outside the box my guy
Got my 2022 regular black softweave last August and it's not showing any sign of wear and tear yet. It's getting at least 10 and sometimes up to 14hrs a day usage as I work from home and use the same desk for my own PC. The seat base was initially very firm but has definately got softer over the last 7 months. If I had to criticise, it would be nice if the back rest was a little softer but tbh I often doze off in it after work so I can't really complain.
@Sujin Jung if it wasn't I would have sent it back 😉. Put it this way - it's not a big soft chair that you sink into, it's firm and supports in the right places which is probably more important
@@drichcymru Hi Richard! Did it get even softer after another 6 months? I'm super skinny and really afraid it would be too firm for me - there's no natural softener on my buttocks.
@@OleksiiUkr I'd say no tbh and the difference between day 1 and now isnt a massive amount. If your sensitive to hard seats then I would suggest getting a thin foam cushion to supplement. Failling that a folded up towel will add some softness if needed. What I will say is that 13 months in its still as good as new.
Wow, so they basically made a voluntarily recalled their product just to address some creaking. THAT makes me super stoked that mine is arriving tomorrow, and I didn't even go with the "leather."
I feel that I needed to add that as a disclaimer... You really have to spell it out for some people...The axe and the fire wasn't enough last time to stop the 'ThAtS cLiCkBaIt' comments... 🙄
I have a knackered old GT cheor and would love some thing new. It has lasted me years but I'm 6'4" and more then 100kg lol. Used to weight train now I just weight gain lol.
just got the titan evo xl as im a bit of a fatty lol and i am extremely happy with how comfortable it, i have to say the seat is softer than i was expecting after seeing all the reviews saying its really firm but my previous chair was a cheap office chair so in comparison to that it is softer
I bought the 2019-20 Titan based on your review. The chair came with a minor flaw with the stitching that I reported to Secret Labs just in case it became a future issue. The customer service was above and beyond my expectations the responded quickly and sent out a new base within a matter of days. Otherwise I impressed with quality, packaging and comfort of the chair. I use this chair 4 to 6 hours a day and it shows no sign of wear.
I really want this chair but everyone on Reddit is telling me to go with the embody Logitech, but idk if it’s worth the extra cash, I use the arozzi veron racing style seat and it’s been good and had it for 4 years and really like it so I’m sure I’d love this one but the reviews are so mixed
Actually my best purchase since moving house - originally bought it closer to release following your original review. I will say I get the creaky but it's not that bad tbh. I also choose leatherette to get one of the gamey designs and it looks sooooo good. Thanks for the recommend 6 months ago!
Will also say that I've had it for 6+ months with ~10hrs use 7 days a week what with wfh and there are no signs of wear AT ALL. Like it's crazy how well it's held up
6:23 for that question: *_don´t fortget, that is a gaming chair, and some who used the games and the chair too long, YES they ll be taken over from galaxis xy - that´s the magnets are for !_*
When you started talking about the magnets I thought you were going to talk about how effective they were at holding the parts in place, not what the lunatics believed about magnets.
will the Evo 2022 XL be good for 6"9 and 300lbs? I don't like to sit "straight and right" in chair at PC, I prefer a little inclined position. Have never used neck pillows or something, because haven't had a chair that fits my height...
8:08 was my primary concern as I intend to literally sleep on the pillow in max recline with my headphones pressing down on the pillow. I was super impressed when you asked that and specifically mentioned your headphones, but then super disappointed when you glossed over it because it felt okay with your use case. The magnets are said to be extremely strong on other metallic objects, just weak on the chair itself.
The magnets is an interesting concern considering most headsets used magnets for the drivers. And wireless headsets.. thats another discussion 😄 thanks for the review
Having driven cars/trucks long distance…Vinyl chairs are brutal when it comes to anything that has to do with warmth..in fact anything over an hour and it’s just nothing but sweating? I don’t get the warmer climates choosing the plastic/vinyl vs fabric or even real leather 🤔 With automakers moving towards cooled seating..interesting how they haven’t moved In that direction 🤔
Would this be a good replacement for a webbed Staples office chair? Wasn't too happy with it, but it was cheaper to get a Purple seat cushion instead of immediately jump on a new SecretLabs chair. Eventually I'd like to replace it with a SecretLabs chair though.
Purchased my Evo 22 Black Hybrid Leatherette based on your review and I've been absolutely delighted. Quick delivery with accurate delivery updates and an amazing quality chair. Worth every penny!
@@quintincoetzee It took a while to get the right combo of support and recline but once I found the sweet spot its pretty much perfect. I use the chair for work and gaming for long periods. No issues.
Maybe another interesting question, what about the magnetic armrest while wearing a smartwatch? are they strong enough to damage it? i heard it's not recommended to put your smartphone on the armrest.
My only troubles have been 1) that the seat is rather hard, so I need to get up periodically to give my tailbone a break and 2) that the lumbar support doesn't seem to go low enough. Otherwise, this is a deluxe chair of superior build quality.
I went back and forth on trying to decide about a chair, watching over 2 dozen or so different reviews/reviewers of "gaming" chairs. I'm only 5'7", but weigh about 220lbs. Bit the bullet on a 2020 Titan on sale over the holidays. The cookies n cream softweave version. And now I don't have anyone to really talk to about how great this chair has been! lol Friends don't really care about things like this! I never have the back locked, as for the most party I lean back and type comments like this, and game or watch videos/movies online. When I lean back all the way, it stays put and I can put my feet up on a memory foam cushion under the desk or just sit with my legs dangling a bit and fall asleep if I want. I also was worried about the "stiffness" of the cushion, but no problems here. Just right for me. Will allow it to hold up over the years better I think. If I have one "complaint" it would be a way to get the chair to not spin left or right with a lock of some type. I'm guessing my floor is not level because there is a slight turn to the left when leaning back and my feet aren't on the floor or footrest. I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone. It was more than worth the price I paid.
Great video/review! I did not click on this video expecting to watch it all since I was mainly just looking for wear problems with the chair overtime, but the video was so well made that I could not stop watching! Very informative and entertaining as well. Thank you, you got my subscribe. Well done sir!
I've had a great experience with my chair! The only thing I will complain about is that my armrests have began to peel a bit, but I believe that's due to user error as I press down a lot on them.
I bought a 2020 Secretlabs chairs and hate it. It is high quality but painful to sit in. First the seat is firm, very firm. The only thing worse is a wooden chair. My tailbone hurts sitting in it less than an hour. Second, it needs to be at least an inch shorter. My feet hang so my toes touch and their website puts me a couple inches taller than the minimum for this chair. I am 6 feet tall having an Titan XL should be a good fit. Then there is the height again which my desk has a pull out tray for my keyboard which is now in the way for the arm rests. This chair is all kinds of uncomfortable so I started a return on it to find out its really hard to disassemble it to ship it back. The piston is wedged into the leg base and won't come out. PLUS you have to pay shipping on the return which is a hefty price for a huge heavy box.
As someone who has had a pacemaker since 2018, I do have a few concerns with the magnets in the headrest pillow. It is common at checkups to have the doctor place a pretty strong magnet over your pacemaker to reset it and check it’s backup functions. With that being said, I would think having magnets strong enough to hold up the pillow within that kind of distance could be dangerous. When you get a pacemaker, they give you a book of instructions to follow to keep your device from malfunctioning. A good example is you are not supposed to let headphone wires lay across that side of your chest, or you should only talk on the phone with the other ear. I am not a doctor or anything, but I have had settings on my pacemaker changed twice from just walking by airport security. So personally I would avoid using the pillow even for short periods of time.
I hate mine! Way too hard, the armrests are super loose and noisy and it creeks like a b***h. Currently in the process of getting replacement armrests. Also, you can't leave reviews on the site? If you are considering this chair, please do yourself a favour and go look at some reviews on reddit. I bought into the hype and regret it.
Too early to say. I myself had issues with it when I was brought it and after 6 months, the chair pretty much conforms to my body and it basically fits me like a glove. The creeks are still there but only if I crank the lumbar support to its max. The seat rest softens and has pretty much conform to my butt shape. There's literally an impression on it. Aesthetically, it's weird but comfort wise, better than any chair I've sat on for long period of time
@@nikitafu like all chairs, creeks are inevitable especially in leather chairs. If you're against creeks, don't get a leather chair and get a mesh one instead. And I have two Herman Miller aeron chairs that both creeks as loud as my secretlab does. And I honestly couldn't care less about the sound cause comfort is my number one priority
@@nikitafu the uncomfortable part will go away once you actually get hours sat in without changing it. I recently just swapped out the seat base cause the leather was giving out compared to the back rest. Before that, the chair was extremely comfortable to sit in after 6 months in. After the change, the chair became uncomfortable to sit in and today, after 3 months of constant use and wear, the chair is starting to feel comfortable again. I'd even go as far to say that I prefer my secretlab over my Herman Miller mainly for it's versatility. I'm able to sit cross legged, lean back 180 and just chill on my chair. Try giving 6 months to 1 year of use, I'm sure it will turn out good for you just as it did for me. The problem with people using secret lab chairs is that they're too quick to pass off judgement on a chair without actually using it. The built in lumbar support doesn't creek as much as it first did 9 months ago for my back rest. It need to be seasoned.
@@nikitafu do you live in a cold or hot climate? I've had friends who live in the colder regions and they complain about the constant creeks on their whereas where I'm from, the hot climate seems to fix the creeking sound or somewhat dampen the sounds to minimal
I was originally using one of the IKEA x ROG gaming chairs, had it for about 3 months. During that time I was at my desk for long hours while working from home and the IKEA chair got uncomfortable. Upgraded to the Secret Lab Titan Evo 2022, used it for over a month now. I really shoulda just got the Titan Evo 2022 in the first place.
Still considering one of these chairs. Which size is the issue. I am 5'4 & my weight is usually between 180-200lbs. Despite my height I am close to a "large" frame with fairly broad shoulders. I am used to pretty much NO office chairs allowing my feet to touch the floor and I use a foot rest. According to Secret labs specs the Small should be the one but I am leaning toward the Regular to give me the side to side space I prefer. Thoughts?
I have a Game of Thrones Stark that I bought in September, 2019. My armrest pad eventually fell apart in 2022 and was replaced under warranty. I have an extended warranty which expires this year, and I've just had to report that the PU leather is starting to crack and fall apart on the base of the seat. I don't know yet if Secretlabs will do anything about it. I'm considering buying my daughter a chair and a desk for myself, but this will be a test of whether or not SL are willing to help.
The evo 2022 was my second chair purchase and at the time i was kinda doubting myself because of how expensive it was, but i gotta say a few months later id probably be willing to pay double for it now that i know what its like. Compared to my previous alpha gamer orion V2 (PSA: do not buy this chair), which to be fair cost only a little over half the secretlab's, its night and day...its like comparing a wooden stool to a sofa in term of comfort and it still looks like brand new while in my other chair the leather started to dry/crack after a couple of months and peel after a year. The main annoyance i've had with this chair so far is the amount of effort it takes to get the lumbar support just right since the motion range is enormous and needing to adjust it while not putting pressure on the backrest means you cant feel it while adjusting . Luckly after you get it right you dont have to touch it again. Oh and the tilting mechanism is a-ma-zing being able to be slightly tilted back without doing any force is so god damn comfortable 10/10 would recommend.
I think the Softweave is just overall better, you said it feels cozy in cold environment, but actually it is made to prevent your back from sweating in hot summer days.
they say the XL was for people over a certain height and weight. I'm 5'11" and 17 stone - leg length regular for trousers. I find the chair too big and the seat base marginally too long. Why do they not make the riser mechanism the same for a regular chair as for a XL version/ able to carry the same weight. I have the 2022 EVO soft weave. For the arm rests I believe its a design feature that allows movement of the arms while not leaving contact rather than the elbow / arm rubbing the arm rest if it was locked in position
Ive only had my chair for a couple months. Comfortable chair but worse engineering idea ever to include magnets to attach the arm rests and pillows. The armrests constantly come off when I pickup my children from the chair, or my dog knocks it off and tries to chew on it or me just getting up by pushing down on them. The head pillow I've had to store away since it constantly falls off and is quite annoying.
I have the 2018 Titan (or at least bought it in 2018). I find the backrest to be super hard and it gives me back pain. Did you not have that problem with your chairs?
I have the 2020 Titan. I have had a few issues. Just as you noted in the video the arm rests wear fairly quick. One side cracked. I will say they did replace it as it was the only thing I have claimed on the warranty. The other thing i find is the arm adjustments really squeal some times. The other issue ive had is if i lock the chair upright it wobbles a small amount forward and backward. Enough be be annoying. Don't get me wrong its still a great chair but it isnt without its issues.. I also should point out I use it for work so I'm in it a good 10 hours a day.
I've received my 2022 Titan a week ago and it wobbles back and fort in lock position, according to customer support that movement is intended so the chair is easyer to mount or something like that (sounds like bullshit). Just to check if it is the same movement, when you are sitting up right the chair goes a lil back and returns to the original position?.
I am contemplating snagging an Evo 2022. I am afraid of the leather being much firmer than expecting and uncomfortable on my butt. Is the cloth much more comfortable for butt pain? I have a leather right now and can't stay in it for longer than 1 hour without butt pain, so curious if this leather is pretty comfortable or not? Thanks.
tbh people worry way to much about life now people need to stop looking into things way to much and your common sense on your own health magnets thinking there going to damage there health i think you need to worry what your clothing is made from and how it effects the skin if you all worrying about stupid things. Also when sitting on chairs would need to make sure you dont sit with keys in your pocket in case you ruin the material
@@StusReviewsUK Absolutely. I'm over 6ft and exceed 100kg. I used to replace chairs every 2 years.... this still looks brand new. It's remarkable. No creeks no wear n tear on the leatherette. No grumbles from me. I used to find the balance of the chair eventually tilts and wobbles... this titan is still sitting straight and no wobbles.
I just discovered your channel and the production of the videos gives me strong documentary almost „David Attenborough” vibes. So I wondered if you ever did a voiceover on any documentary and if so, which one? I would loove to see it. Your voice is amazing man. Keep up the great work!
I've been looking at reviews on #SecretLab chairs and yours is the most comprehensive for a wide range of their product offering. My issue is my shoulders are wide. 187cm, 120kg. Would the XL Softweave be comfortable on my back and shoulders?
after 10 months with occasional use, the chair grinds everywhere on base and backrest. It looks quality and sturdy but inner structure doesn't reflect same quality.
SecretLab should just hire me to test their chair. My 2020 Titan is completely destroyed. The arm rests have like large ripples produced tears . The PU leather on the seat tore open and a metal thing is sticking out of it.
Thank you for a great review, I really enjoyed, that’s why I subscribed. 😊I ordered mine this morning and they have a sale on. I also got a couple of freebies, however I think most people probably get. I can’t wait but will have to wait for delivery!
I want to but a 2022 model, it will as expensive as my pc but my spine and ass will thank me. For the sweaty people, do you stick to the artificial leather? And how comfortable is the seat? Also, how is the artificial leather holding up after some months of use and is the piston any good? I plan to use it around 8 hours per day
I currently have a staples chair that's faux leather is falling off of. I've got two cats since getting this chair so I'm looking for a comfy cloth. Definitely looking at this chair. It sucks that there isn't places you can try it out, but I'm still looking towards this as it's getting great reviews.
I just received a Secretlab Titan EVON Titan Leatherette in Black. The box was well padded, instructions were very clear, but what these reviews don’t mention is the formaldehyde like smell from the chair materials. I’m currently airing it out and hopefully the strong nauseating smell will disappear. Overall, the materials are sturdy, good framing, but the lumbar support looks lame. I’ll have to try it out for at least a week or two to determine if it justifies the $580 price tag. Good luck
@@nsnv the formaldehyde smell on the chair died down after two weeks. The chair padding is too firm. I ended up going on Amazon and ordering “Purple Ultimate Seat Cushion” from the Purple mattress company. I just got it two days ago and it helps tremendously. Overall, the chair is well constructed, lumbar support could be better. Did you order one?
@@mc-ph6ei thanks for the detailed reply. Makes sense the smell would go away thankfully. Yeah I've read some stuff the chair is pretty firm but I think I like firmer stuff generally like mattresses etc. No I havent ordered one yet but highly considering it especially since they're on black Friday sale. Would be a big upgrade from my Ikea chair which actually isn't too bad and have been using it for 2.5 years
@@nsnv if you can sit long hours on a firm chair, you won’t be disappointed. The package for the chair weighed nearly 90lbs. The chair isn’t flimsy at all, well constructed. Good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to get a good deal next month during Black Friday. Keep me posted.
How long can we expect any Titan Evo chair cushion to last? My problems with chairs over the years is the cushion/foam wearing out after a year, any thoughts on this?
I have a 2019 Titan and have had to replace the armrest after 12 months due to cracking and indentations, done so as a favour by Secretlab apparently. The other one is cracked and peeling and i'm pretty sure they won't replace it again. A weak point imo otherwise really durable and comfortable chair!
