I could literally sit all day and listen to this woman talk all day. She has excellent charisma and I remember every word she said.

Separating the West and the East is a huge cultural mistake. These two imaginary parts of the world are not culturally homogeneous at all. For instance, Canada which is supposedly in the West, do not practice direct confrontation. Most Canadians avoid conflict. Besides they do not settle interpersonal issues in the workplace directly, and tend to go through the hierarchy. The West and the East do not exist outside of our construction of the world, itself based on our perceptions shaped by our own culture. There is no homogeneity in either "part" of the world. There are lots of subtil but utmostly important cultural nuances, even in a single country. Think about the US, China, Mali, Afghanistan, and so on. So the very secret of cross-cultural communication is awareness. Awareness of others' cultures, but first and foremost of one's own cultural bias in assessing and consequently understanding different cultures.

How did the manager handle the conflict? Why did the manager not directly point the problem to the plant manager? Based on the video, what techniques can you suggest to reduce miscommunication with other cultures?

I am Chinese and I really think that is not a good approach by not telling the factory manager - "we believe you guys go a great job. please make sure the bike is in good quality when deliver. we count on you"..... Just present it in a nicer clear way is more effective.
