Hi Coach! The problem I seem to have is that my natural accent is British but barely get cast because they believe I don’t have a Nigerian accent for their production. I was advised to introduce myself in my natural accent, then give my monologue in a Nigerian accent. Do you think this is ok to do?
I have no experience with acting I don't know where to start and no support as far as people saying you can do it. I'm 28 years old I've had a dream of acting for a long time can you help me get started any help would be appreciated
I'm 55 and I just started. I signed up with Central Casting in NYC 2 months ago. They took my photo and within 1 week I started getting availability inquiries. So far I did 3 background shoot days on Law & Order: Original, 1 day on Law & Order: SVU, & 1 day on FBI: Most Wanted. I was a lawyer, a cop, a diplomat, a gun convention attendee, and a court room gallery member. Just background. No talking. But it's a learning experience being on set. I plan to take acting classes now and then audition for some small speaking roles. I think you're never too old to start... if it's what you really want to do. And if we don't succeed, so what. At least we tried. Edit: I just noticed and clicked on your profile photo. My old eyes couldn't originally see how young you are. So now I'll add that you're also never too young to start.
