Car audio builder from way back here. Good video bro. It kills me watching some of these RU-vidrs blow up subwoofers and amplifiers on purpose and then suggesting their test was legitimate. There are a few good channels out there though. Keep it up.

Making sure your amplifier is tuned correctly is key, if your amp is 500rms and your subwoofer is 350 then you MUST match the power by doing math to match the voltage to control the amp to not push over 350rms. Also making sure the frequency filters are set correctly.

Setting gain with just battery power is pretty smart, especially if you have a Honda or any other vehicle with dual mode alternators that change from 14v to 12v based on load, as your voltage will swing a lot more on these alternators.

I just got told recently that there's no way my sub has lasted as long as i claim by someone online. I have a Sundown nsv4 18 that's been in use over 5 years with no issues. He basically said i am full of it😂 Proper enclosure size/tuning in a well made box. Proper subsonic setting. No clipping and not letting your voltage drop below 12 volts. Follow the rules and it will last.

yea, my 12s are all 5 years old, and my 10 under the dash running on over double its rated power, is about 20 years old. ive had it for about 10 years

Very important one: If subwoofer is in ported enclosure, you must use steep highpass filter to block everything below tuning frequency; otherwise bye bye driver...

Not really! I've had my HAT I6SW sub for 14 - 15 years now. Bought it after watching this video from Pete; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R_QUm97_kJk.html my t-line design makes it hit below 30, never had any type of filter on it, working fine. BTW this 6.5 (technocally5.7") replace my DD 12" sub! Rated at 120 watts, I've had it on the end of a Ground Zero amp rated at 1,100 @ 4 ohms for a few weeks .... the sub was/is fine! As for my home audio, I have 2 x Peerless SLS 6.5 in a t-line (been designing and building t-lines almost exclusively since 1991) … no filter, and they've been playing for ... 12 years!
