Most Americans, don't realize the severity of this!

What ever the name on a bill says in effect actually means it's opposite. Secure act = insecure act.

Any "bi-partisan" bills passed by Congress has never resulted in positive change for Americans.

Jim, Thank you for your clarity and your passion regarding this concern. Can you advise whether or not the ROTH IRA would be affected by this?
@chasemiller5036
@chasemiller5036 4 года назад
I haven't looked into it specifically, but I would think not since you are paying taxes up front on Roth IRAs/401ks.

Mr. Lange, on P. 4-5 of your book "Retirement Plan Owner's Guide to Beating the New Death Tax" you write that IRA inheritors who are less than 10 years in age difference from the plan owner would be exempt from the 10 year rule. Do you still think this is part of the proposed bill?

Jim, I don’t understand the graph in the video, I think it doesn’t display the amount withdrawn from the account. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to just show the account value without reflecting the mandatory distributions being reinvested. I have no doubt the stretch Ira is better but I think the graph distorts the magnitude of the difference.

I agree with Pat. The analysis needs to take into account a side account that reflects monies withdrawn. My initial thought is to invest the portion of the withdrawal that is in excess (after tax) of the stretch withdrawal. That assumes inheritor spends an amount equal to stretch withdrawal. That is a fairer representation of the situation. I still believe the stretch will be “better” but the way it is portrayed here is an exaggeration at best and fear mongering at worst.

Interesting..... We were planning to go to cash by the end of life thus avoiding the inherited IRA issue. In other words, instead of leaving the inheritance in paper or hard assets, we simply use cash.
@chaz380
@chaz380 5 лет назад
Hi, does that mean you will have cash outside of the IRA?
@SantaBarbaraAlberto
@SantaBarbaraAlberto 5 лет назад
@@chaz380 Yes, instead of in the IRA. Financial planning typically does not address the end of life. They talk savings phase, 4% withdraw rate, conversion to Roth, long term care, and other state planning. They do not talk downsizing after 80 or going to cash when your life horizon is shorter and shorter. If life expectancy is 85, why in the world would you have $1M in an IRA then? Stretch IRA are great but not the only way to leave wealth to the next of kin.

@@89five3five well for one i look at a 401k as a liability, it sucks money from your paycheck into an account you don't have access to for 40 years and two if you pass it along to your children when you die they have to completely liquidate it within 10 years that's bogus to me. There's a lot more i could add but i won't

schlepers as long as they leave life insurance alone you will be fine
@Brian-op9fv
@Brian-op9fv 4 года назад
Given the tax impact, life insurance has a much bigger target on its back than the HSA. And the fact that wealthier people typically have cash value life insurance...can you see that target getting bigger?? My feeling is that the man is def coming for life insurance. The thing I am hoping for is that they grandfather in current/existing policies....as they have done in the past!
@89five3five

Stretch IRA needed to end. There is already a way to pass money to your kids and grandkids income tax free: life insurance. If you have Any qualified money, you can use a QLAC to move RMDs to 85 years old. Use the QLAC to pay for a large Life Insurance policy’s that will more than take care of any taxes.
