About the talk:
Abstract: Authorization is a crucial challenge in any organization's security operations. While traditional role-based access control (RBAC) mechanisms are effective for many use cases, there are times when companies need to go beyond RBAC and implement more advanced access control mechanisms such as attribute-based access control (ABAC). In this talk, we will discuss how we overcame complex authorization challenges in a hospital setting using Open Policy Agent (OPA) and REGO policies. Specifically, we will dive into how we solved device offline scenarios and offline versus online synchronization issues. We will also explore the differences between microservices and UI app authorization.
