He has done an amazing amount of work in , honestly such a short amount of time. All the people who have given their time are amazing. So proud of all of them. They have worked so hard. ❤❤
Australian carpenter here. If you are nailing the floor you should use a flexible adhesive as well to prevent floorboard squeak. The other way is the add some screws. Loving your work.
Agreed 1000%. I was thinking about that too. I have heard a lot of these squeak on their own only by changes in temperature, let alone by walking over them.
Money on RU-vid: Views for ads and watchtime for premium viewers. The impressions thumbs up or downs and comments are just for the engagement metrics which will let the the algorithm push the videos to others recommended vids. Rumor has it that a thumbs down is counted equally as a thumbs up, but this is in the secret algorithm which adjusts itself all the time.
Love the channel, the man is absolutely slaying this project. It’s a bit like building a Wright brothers flyer, carting it out to a meadow, and teaching yourself how to fly.
Money does not directly depend on thumbs up. Money is related to ads served. Which is related to views and views are indirectly related to ranking in the algorithm and related content. One thing which is alleged to drive the algorithm is engagement.
Dan, you didn't mention you had passed 100million views of your videos. That's a massive achievement in a relatively short period of time. It's a tribute to you, your obvious skills and hard work. Well done..
Holy cow. This is one of those videos that just blows me away, reminding me how much physical labor is required for almost every task. Amazing. Hope you reward yourself with good food and good sleep!!
Every time I watch this channel I am amazed at the things you achieve everyday no matter rain snow freezing temps heat of the summer … incredible If I could only find builders in the USA 🇺🇸 with the same dedication… Truly Amazing…
Well hopefully within the week the roof will be waterproofed, overall the progress has been reasonably good but on the next Wing he wants to ensure it is carried out "before" next Winter so every dry day after waterproofing this Wings roof he should "concentrate" on doing the other Wings beams and floor to enable the Roof to be finished and waterproofed "before" Winter 2024 it will be a lot easier for Dan to avoid working outside in Winter on the roof, it will exact it's toll, the Central part looks like it's going to be a bit more of a slog, he could do with a stone mason/ brick layer when working on that section I think it will be pretty labour intensive and extensive on the fragile top section of the walls where the roof used to be, hopefully he can start on that section in Spring of 2025 but the waterproof roof work may take until 2026, I think there is still another 9 years (Including this one) to go - 2033 for a house party🎉, hopefully I will live to see it, the Chateau is turning more into a building site with each passing day and less of a forgotten ruin but there is a vast amount of work to go to turn it into a home, Dans age and determination is on his side however and his supporters!?!
Great job Dan! For now though, you should use waterproof basement paint on the floor to protect it, or something like that. Tarp will HOLD moisture! And construction adhesive on the beams before you lay the floor would keep them from moving and squeaking. AND make the floor even stronger. ( I rebuilt an old 1874 house and that's what I did).
It is so obvious your heart and soul are into this restoration project. So happy for you ! A big THANK YOU for streaming this for us to follow along. ❤👍
Fabulous! Just love watching you all go through each step and explaining it to us. Every time Nik cuts down a tree and knows exactly where it will drop, I just shake my head. Nothing like watching a professional at his work. Carol from California
Well I suppose luckily (Or unluckily depending on your viewpoint!) the trees in Europe do not grow to the extent that they can do in the US of A or Canada to be fair, but Nick still takes all the precautions and thinks about things, that seems to be key!?!
Glad you are getting this section to completion, Dan. 3 more to go. Order lumber now for the next one; so you don’t have a delay. Liking that gorgeous work table... Crack on.
@@tonygorham Yeah, could be a cash flow issue. Lots of others things that have to be purchased before Dan's ready to take on the next part of the roof.
Always a good idea to practice a joint when you haven't done one for awhile. The main thing is to get a basic technique worked out and then things speed up when you get your eye in.. As a cabinet maker its always frustrating when you do something you haven't done for ages and you have to learn the solutions over again.. good luck with it Dan!
What an amazing achievement Dan in reaching one million views 🎉🎉 Dan have you broken the news gently to your good friend Stephanie, who I'm sure is delighted. I feel a celebration coming on. Xx🎉🎉
A final floor installed. Almost. More tangible progress. Great encouragement for the rest when it feels like you've been hauling, building, pointing and clearing forever. ❤
I’ve been in such a bad place recently and I was literally thinking about giving it all up earlier and then you ping came through for your RU-vid it just made my life a little bit better. Thanks Dan❤
Isn’t this channel the best?! Everybody can get down, but remember that you are a unique gift to this world and there is nobody else who is exactly like you. ❤
Dan you and your mates have done an anstoning job to the Chateau! I can't wait until the whole structure is over with! You have amazing mates who are helping you all the steps of the way! I know you are all pleased!
So glad to see the sketchy osb replaced by real flooring. Between the work and videos I don't see where you get time for project management, Dan, but you're doing an amazingly good job!
As my dear departed mum would say, Nick and Cameron are good sorts for you Dan as they are great at getting in and doing the job. Edit: I like that you have a safer floor so I don’t hold my breath any more. Some of the other people have commented that you should you something else other than a tarpaulin on your floor to protect it. I’m inclined to agree with them. They have products mentioned so would you look them up. You’ve had a long day. You must be knackered. Floor looks fabulous. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
The Amazing Dan! You're an inspiration Dan. There's nothing impossible if you'll take one single step at a time and here you are now. You've done an excellent job. Keep it up Dan! ❤
Come on people, more thumbs up for all Dan's hard work. We can make a huge difference in the outcome of this project if we all hit the thumbs up everyday. We can do it!
Dan, seeing you in a tee-shirt shows that you've really bulked up from all that heavy lifting you've been doing. I always wondered why you didn't nail down your floor boards, now I know why!! It's really looking great!!!
Ok Dan, Nick and Cameron got some more progress on the attic floor and it should be much stronger now to support the roof framing. Looking good! And lets not forget the trees Nick got down today! Nice video much longer than before.
I can't believe what an amazing job you are doing, the work ethics of the three of you is outstanding, all done with humour and great comradery.😌❤️🙏👏👏👏👏👏
Dan, u must be so pleased to be accomplishing this and to have you buddies there helping you! You are so fortunate to have them. They are such hard workers, just like you! You have been wanting to do this part for such a long time now! Take care, all of you!❤️🙏🏼😎👋🏻🇨🇦🫎🦫
If you add Borax to your vinegar and water solution it too will kill mold with the added benefit of preventing mold from ever growing, providing the wood doesn't get washed. Also, consider spraying your plywood with clear waterproofing.
@@berg8970technically you cannot make anything water proof. You can only make it water resistant. But you are right that OSB can have water resistant glue in it and can be coated to gain resistance, but in itself is never water proof. Plywood can survive longer but has the same problem in the long run. On a molecular levels wood likes to transport water, because that is the functionality in a tree.
@@KjerstiNagel There's a difference between lying and not knowing. Dan isn't that experienced so take what he says with a grain of salt. But he's not lying.
This is so nice to watch. I love the ASMR. Cameron and his wild manes are nice too to watch! He always escapes the proper view. Nick knows so much!! Never judge a book by its cover...But you guys are so hard working...if you had a bigger team this Chateau is done in 3 years....😂😂😂
Well done lad, fantastic to have a stable floor to work from. Great team work through the day. Sleep well. Oh and congratulations on 100 Million views. Thumbs up people please. Nighty night K🇬🇧❤️❤️
Nick is really a genius, watching him is pure poetry in motion. He’s one in a million, and so are you Dan, CONGRATS ON A MILLION VIEWS. NOW IF THE SLACKERS WOULD JUST LIKE, you would be on top of the world. Hallelulja!!!
Rural France looks a lot like rural Missouri. You do incredible work and have such a great attitude. This has easily become one of my favorite channels.
I think we'll all feel a lot better watching you walk around on that solid floor, as well! Every time you kneel down, or hoist up one of those big wood panels from below with nothing but joists and roughly 30-40 feet of air below you, I hold my breath!
Oh my goodness Dan it is so amazing to see part of your permanent flooring nailed down and in place. This must be the best feeling ever. The roof is coming along nicely and I am sure it will be a big relief when that section is completely dried in and finished. Things are moving quickly now. See you tomorrow.
Noting the things you note in passing “after the fact” like questioning if the floor still has enough integrity to hold you - thanks for being safe crew. Keep up the great adventure! Love those smiles and enthusiasm- you’ve become a good therapy😂🎉 there is wood yeah!
Dan, I have watched your videos since day one and I have never been disappointed with your content. I have worked construction since my mid teens and I hope that you will at least give this some thought. It is common practice in the USA building industry to use a construction adhesive and screws when installing subfloor even when tongue and groove material is used. I’m well into my late fifties and I can not tell you how many floors I’ve installed in the same manner you are using that several years later were redone because of annoying squeaks. Please save yourself the hassle of having to replace your subfloors down the line and glue and screw the subfloor to the joists. I am endlessly impressed with the work you have done in the chateau and I look forward to following your work through to completion. Keep up the great work.
Awesome progress again! 💖 I love seeing your subscriber numbers going up, and I heard your view numbers have surpassed 100 million! You so deserve it, Dan!!! 👍👍👍👍👍 five thumbs up!
Dan… You and your team… . Nick and Cameron ….are. Spell binding…I’ve fallen madly in love with each of you this is so much morel than a chateau restitution
Uh oh, it's been 4 days! I sure hope that you're okay! It always worries me when you're working at such great heights (on that top roof structure) and go silent, even though you've purchased safety gear. Hope to hear from you soon!!!
Amazing to see tree cutting, falling and also the moss on them is amazing looking too. All 3 of you are such hard workers and knowledgeable. I am so proud of you Sir Dan, Good job on the floor!!!
