With the news that President Biden is set to visit Ireland, White House Communications vehicles and US Secret Service have arrived in Belfast. The Presidential security equipment was transported by C-17s of the United States Air Force.
Joe Biden is expected to partake in Good Friday Agreement 25th anniversary celebrations in Northern Ireland before embarking on a trip to connect with his ancestral routes in the Republic of Ireland.
The two vehicles are codenamed 'Roadrunner' and 'Watchtower', and are part of the White House Communications Agency segment of the motorcade that the US President travels within.
Roadrunner, a modified Ford F350, is the Mobile Command & Control Vehicle that provides a communication point for the Presidential limousine to stay in contact with the Pentagon and the White House while the President travels.
Watchtower, a modified Chevrolet Suburban, is the Electronic Countermeasures Vehicle used to detect, disrupt, and jam hostile signals such as those used to trigger explosive devices.
