Drove from Flagstaff to Sedona for a creek day and paint out with my dear friend and fellow artist, Lydia Gatzow. We met up at Crescent Moon Ranch and found the perfect creek spot to work. Lydia paints plein air and I worked on a new textural piece inspired by the water. Enjoy this meditative and peaceful look at our experience painting together. We talk about our creative processes, plein air set ups, and how we both just drool over this landscape. At the end of the day, I met up with my mom, sister and grandpa for an evening of hearing Fiddler on the Rock on Airport Vista. Inspiring and masterful music by Tyler Carson, a local musician and artist who often plays at Airport Vista and The Hub of Sedona.

Sedona with fall colors?? Plug it in my veins! I love the conversations between you two and unique ways you each see the landscape.

Loved tagging along. From beginning to end, there is something very soothing about watching you and Lydia create, listening to the gentle sounds of nature-trees, birds, water, the landscape, quiet conversations. Even just seeing you unpack and pack up, casually having a meal and meeting up with family to enjoy music. Thank you for sharing joy♥️🍁🙌🌻🌞

Is there a limit to how many times I can watch this?? This is so beautifully done. I love how you wove it all together, capturing our processes and the moments in nature that influenced it. Perfection! Thank you for this short film and inspiring me!!!! Hanging on the edge of my seat for the next one!

Great Sunday morning video! I had never seen 2 artists painting together like that, very cool, very fun. Reminds me a bit of two photographers together, each seeing a landscape in a totally different way, and each learning from each other. Loved it, and fantastic finish to your day.😊

I love that analogy! It’s absolutely accurate. Painting plein air with friends is such a fun way to get more inspiration and not feel so stuck in a studio all the time! Definitely want to get out and paint like this more often. I have a tendency to hide away and work very solitary. Happy to be breaking out of that a little. Thank you so much for your reflections! 🙌🏻

Freaking amazing!!!! AZ truly has so much amazing beauty to offer, wow. Blending your capture of art and Sedona was awesome... Well done, I am enjoying your vids so far. Defianately not my typical watch tbh, BUT i am liking them so far. Keep it up, the video's are in itself art :)

Do you know about the artist in residency programs that national parks do? (I’ve got a strong feeling you do, but wanted you to know just make sure. NPS can struggle with communication of what they do)

Yes!! I have applied to some - got in to one in Alaska but then Covid hit so I didn’t get to go 😭 I will get back on it though, thank you for the reminder!
