The classic genre is reaching young and first time listener says more songs, go viral online, including a Duke Ellington cover from 23 year old Samara Joy, was just nominated for the best new artist Grammy. She talks to Ari Melber in this discussion heading into the Grammys.

There are lots of young jazz singers out there today. For us old timers, it's a joy to hear a new generation of singers who do the nuance and control of singing jazz so well. In addition to Ms. Joy, you need to check out singers like Veronica Swift, Cecile McLorin-Savant. Jazz, THE American art form, is alive and thriving.

I'm writing this now as Samara has done it! 2023 Won Best Album and 2023 Best New Artist! Three years ago I contributed to her humble beginning as an NYC college student. She did a Go Fund Me project for 8000 dollars to produce her debut album. Now she's a star!

Joe Biden's attorneys didn't have security clearances and the FBI allowed them to search for classified documents. Joe Biden had secret documents from when he was a senator. That's a crime with no exceptions. Trump had his office packed by the GSA according to law. The FBI had visited repeatedly and looked through the documents. They could have seized anything they deemed to be a security threat. Trump had the authority to declassify anything he had.

So happy Ari had her on his show. She is a phenom. "What is old is new again" -- she's breathing new life into jazz with her own perspective and youthful energy, but at the same time is talented beyond her years. Her career will be long and successful. So excited for her. I saw Adele shortly after her Best New Artist win, and thankfully will get to see Samara in the coming months as well.
