At the Ghent 2024 Velo-city event, Streetfilms went along on a technical visit "Cycling Through School Areas" to see some of the road treatments the city does for kids and families to help get them to schools in a safe environment. Here is a little of that tour to inspire your city to do the same!

All children should be able to ride a bicycle to school safely on protected bike lanes and trails and not have to be driven in a car.

Problem where I live is that in Jaunuary thru March more than half the days are belove -12C and get to -20C. MAkes bicycle commuting difficult for even adults.

In NYC between end of December to early-mid March I and many of my friends opt for transit and other ways vs biking. If you can only bike 8, 9, 10 months of the year there's no problem. Do it when you can.
